Most importantly, this group produce and write their own music. Often seemlessly mixing genres within one song and making it work to perfection. I think you'll like Venom, Megaverse, Thunderous, Lalalala (rock version), Maniac, Cheese, Easy, S Class and Topline to start. Also, Heyday and 3Racha by 3Racha (the 3 main producers within the Stray kids group)...Lastly, check out "I got it" by Han. One of the main rappers within the group. Looking forward to your journey.

6:44 When Changbin starts a song, it’s called a “Bintro.” 😊Changbin, Han, & Stray Kids’ leader Bang Chan are the main songwriters/producers of the group. Bang Chan is the chief beat maker with over 150 songs to his credit. They call themselves “3Racha” (a play on the hot sauce sriracha). You might like their song of the same name, 3Racha-it’s in the UK drill style & hits really hard.

I highly recommend ITEM, Freeze, Hall of Fame, Superbowl, Easy, Domino, The Sound, Silent Cry, Charmer,Scars and Youtiful. These are just a few of my favourites, but every single one of their songs are amazing. They are extremely talented and their music is very uplifting, positive and inspiring.

In the last 6 years they have released over 200 songs and there is not a bad one to be found.
The rap in Mirror Mirror is Changbins fastest. He is the second fastest 4th gen rapper at 9.75sps. The 4th fastest K-pop rapper and the equal 13th fastest in South Korea.
To catch his speed i would suggest MIROH and EASY. Both are iconic songs.

Okay, just a few things -
    1. Bang Chan, the leader, actually created the group and came up with the name and logo. The reality show was named after them!
    2. They write and produce all their music - very rare in k-pop. 98% of their discography is 100% from them.
    3. One thing Stray Kids does is release "movie style" trailers for their upcoming albums. It's incredibly cool, and no Western artist has this concept.
    4. I suggest the mv's Thunderous, Maniac, and S Class (all title tracks) - BUT you have to watch the album trailers first!
    - Noeasy trailer THEN Thunderous MV
    - Oddinary trailer THEN Maniac mv
    - 5 Star trailer and THEN S Class mv ❤
It's a different way to react to their music.
    Enjoy!

  • @yumega
    @yumega 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +44

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Lol To give you just a bit of context about the video,
There are four concepts within the sets/ motifs that each represent a different aspect of their music making.
The main one that relates to the title is the kitchen and chef costumes. As a group with an incredibly varied discography, they are saying, "No matter who you are, you are going to find something that satisfies your pallet with us." Being chefs is a reference to the creative process of making music.
The second motif is the scientists and lab. This is a reference to experimentation. Stray Kids are known for making very experimental music.
The third motif is a bit more in the background, and that is the construction site. They are often criticized for making, "construction music" and being very noisy. They embrace these criticisms, and in more than one song say, "Yes. Yes we are loud. And?" And obviously the construction being another reference to the creative process.
The last motif is the race track. This is a reference to not only the collaboration that is necessary in what they do, (staff, their internal producing unit 3racha, choreographers, stylists, etc) but also the aspects of competition that comes with being in the kpop scene.
A ridiculously talented group of men. I'm excited to see you guys explore more of them!

Welcome to Stray Kids! If you both like rap or heavier music, then you might like some of the 3RACHA sub-unit songs. 3RACHA are the production team comprising Changbin (whom you heard in Mirror Mirror), Han and the leader of the group, Aussie Bang Chan. They produce and write almost all the music for Stray Kids. 3RACHA rap songs include the self-titled 3RACHA, Hey Day, We Go, Zone. There are also rap solos such as Changbin's (Doodle) and Han's (I Got It). There are group rap songs such as S-Class, Topline, ITEM, Freeze, Venom, Comflex, Easy, Beware (Grrr), Muddy Water, La La La La, Megaverse. There is also the experimental Tortoise and the Hare (you'll either love or hate this one). Full group songs often mix the rap and vocals because all members have their different strengths though they can all sing and rap. When they sing together, the tend to stay in their primary lanes most of the time. They have over 200 songs in their discography, including vocally driven ballads, so lots to choose from!

Han's "I got it" is so good! Another youtuber "Andy and Jas" did a lyrics breakdown and it's a super spicy diss track. "I got it" in English sounds like agari in Korean which is a rude way to say "shut your mouth". No swearing officially but it's in there. Wish I lived close enough to make it to Ollie's Pub!

I always recommend checking out Top and Slump. Back in 2020/2021, they made the intro and outro to the anime Tower of God.
I listened to a reactor with a heavy metal background talk about why he likes kpop and found it so accessible (especially groups like Stray Kids, BTS, and Ateez). Kpop shares the performative and theatrical aspects of a lot of metal, though in a different way and polishes it differently, but it’s still an overlap. There is also an aspect of meaning too. While you can get songs that don’t delve into deeper meanings, both genres tackle subjects that make them relatable in a more complex way than a lot of your typical pop music. And then there is a firm aspect of community.
Take a few Stray Kids’ songs: 1. Hellevator talks about feeling like you are at your lowest (particularly in the context of their career), fighting to succeed, but you’re tired. And the Hellevator is the hard work, grit and determination you apply to get out of that low point and achieve your dreams.
    2. District 9 - from the I am Not album, this song tackles self identity amidst a sea of people talking at you trying to dictate what you are and who you should be but being determined to be an individual in spite of what others think you should be.
    3. Grow Up - A b-side that talks, pretty much, about depression and feeling like every little stumble means you’re failing. But it also reaffirms that you aren’t alone and that just moving forward and not stopping means you’re doing okay.
And these are just songs from their predebut and debut album. Obviously not every song or album tackles these concepts, but that was them at 17-20 years old writing these messages. But you can just look at Cover Me, Blind Spot and Social Path from their last album to see that they haven’t stopped creating meaningful songs.

Subtitles are recommended for kpop groups.( if y'all are going down that rabbit hole) .Straykids has a very wide range of music, different genres but mainly hip hop and rap.....I would suggest that you start from pre debut song Hellevator and debut song District 9.....and come forward..... ( they have videos for most of their songs and for the ones that don't their are lyric videos) if y'all are really interested in the group and getting to know their wide range (and not just the really popular songs).....totally up to you....😊....anyway..nice reaction....keep it up..😊😊😊😊

They are self producing and actually have coined their own music genre called "Mala taste" to describe how hard hitting and fierce their music can be. They do so many genres and include so many different sounds and beats in their music. As a whole they're just so incredible and amazing people who make awesome music. Hope to see you react to more.

Kpop boybands are definitely Not the same as western boybands firstly KPOP was modelled from American Hip-hop...... Suga from BTS said "K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music"... Also straykids write and produce all their music which is rare in Kpop and in western style boybands

I'm sure there are other Stay's out there that can word everything way better than I can, I'll try to keep it as short as I can. Stray Kids started off as just a 3 membered sub-unit called 3racha, under the Entertainment Business called JYP, consisting of the members Bang Chan (The leader of the group, the one who started it all), Han (one of the main rappers) and Changbin (Another main rapper). They're basically known to be the main composers of the group, producing and writing their own lyrics to their songs. Bang Chan the leader got the opportunity to choose who would get to be in the group which is unheard of in Kpop. They have their own reality show called Stray Kids Survival Show where each of the members were tested and judged to see if they would really get to debut as a 9 membered group. During this reality show they had a series of a few music videos that were released before debuting to sort of test the group and see if they could really function together. The first one is called Hellevator. I'm not gonna get much into it in case anyone hasn't watched it and they don't want any spoilers but at this point I think it's safe to say the main spoiler is pretty evident, since we've all seen all 9 of them. Going past that they debuted in March 25th of 2018 with their title track called District 9. They've released countless music all sounding different from one another because their sound is more so trying to tackle all audiences to invite everyone in. I could honestly go on and on about these boys because there is so much to cover but I'm just gonna say that watching the whole group is not gonna do Changbin any justice. They have tons of songs, but if you're looking at songs from the whole group, there are 8 members (one member left the group) in total so the lines will be divided in between all of them. If it's Changbin you want to hear more of you definitely want to check out more songs by 3racha. Some good songs to start off with might be: Matryoshka, Double Knot, Broken Compass, Runner's High, 3racha, & Zone. There are definitely more songs out there especially more that I love as well but those songs are some of my favorites that have my most favorite Changbin versus (since I'm a Changbin bias xD). If you want you can also check out a cover of the song called "Tomorrow" It's originally by Taeyang x Tablo (freaking great song choice, I encourage you to listen to the original as well) that he performed on a show called "Masked Singer" to show of his singing abilities as well. To search it just type in "Changbin Tomorrow Masked Singer".

They've had a live backup band for their big concert tours, which is unusual for kpop, and they had some really fun interactions onstage. Songs with a harder edge would be Social Path, Freeze, S Class, All In, Venom, Thunderous. Some of their earliest releases had a fair amount of metal and grunge influence, for instance Beware (Song of Grrr), Hellevator and Yayaya. Their first international tour after the pandemic, they did little fragments of local songs, so in Seattle, the leader, Bang Chan, sang some of "Smells Like Teen Spirit". He said one of the bored dad chaperones started headbanging to it.
For Grrr you can get a "performance video" which is what newer groups do when they want more videos but don't have the budget for a scripted and edited MV. They just went to some storage basement and performed their choreography while lip-syncing to the music, so it looks just like olden days MTV., but with better dancing. Yayaya doesn't have a video, you can see a live performance from their survival show, or you can look up a color coded video.

I see your flood of comments so I'll make it short. Stray Kids just makes you feel the emotions in their songs, from the bangers and the slower ones to their solos. They have rap in their songs but they are definitely more. All their vocals are amazing. Here's some mvs that you may like:
    1. Thunderous
    2. S Class
    3. Lalalala
    4. Easy
    5. Victory Song
    6. Grrr
But their live performances are great, especially from the competition, Kingdom: Legendary War. Stray Kids performed:
    1. God's Ddudduddu mix with God's Menu tidbits in Blackpink's Ddu ddu ddu
    2. Ghost - mix of their songs God's Menu and Side Effects.
They have slower songs too, that show their range but most people go for the bangers 1st then navigate. lol
Just subscribed to watch more Stray Kids content but what else you have. Enjoyed how you googled some info and read some comments. You guys are definitely musicians! Haha...this was not as short as i thought.

Welcome to Stray Kids! The fandom is global, huge, very enthusiastic, and overall friendly. If you keep going, Stays will show up for it! Be prepared. Stays will keep requesting more now that you've dipped into the fandom.
The deep voiced guy is Felix. People get drawn into the fandom because of his voice. Stays call it "the Felix effect". He's Korean-Australian, as is the group's leader, Bang Chan, and so both are fluent in English and Korean (Felix wasn't originally and had to learn Korean). The rest of the group has worked hard on their English, and many of their songs have both Korean and English lyrics mixed.
They have a WIDE RANGE of musicality and love to blend genres, but they also have a signature style for their title tracks that God's Menu is a great example of. If you want more rap from Changbin, you should check out Miroh, Thunderous...well, you already have a lot of suggestions in other comments, lol. You really cannot go wrong.

Just from your rock background, I recommend watching LALALALA, which has a normal and a rock version (MV is the normal verison), but yeah, I am in deep for their hiphop and heavy-beat and heavy-drop songs anyways xD personal faves are Easy and Wolfgang heh. Oh and Superboard is also a bit more rocky for them, tho I feel like that genre is called differently!

I think you might like their songs like ”muddy water" (performed by 4 old-school rappers), ”maze of memories” (rap by all participants), ”all my life" feat Lil Durk, ”cover me” (lyrical), ”fnf” (song about Australia, since both members grew up there), ”easy”, ”red light”, ”The Tortoise and the Hare” (an experimental song written by Han in drunkenness, a lot of people don't notice it, but I think the song is very worthy and interesting in sound). From 3racha (producers from the band) you can listen to ”zone”, ”heyday”, ”3racha" all this hip-hop.

IM SO GLAD YOU CAUGHT ONTO THE MELODY BEING USED. if you guys decide to continue with Skz reactions your going to see influences from every side of the globe in their music ON TOP of ones you won’t even be able to catch. they even use baby song melody’s like twinkle twinkle little star, they write produce etc dig into their beats and their samples. ALSO REMEMBER THE CC SUBTITLES FOR ENGLISH SUBS. You’re going to want to react to a lot of songs on each other albums. You got about 40 videos ahead of you. The English subtitles are important for non Korean speakers because they use words that have an English twist or facade to them so it flows so much better. you guys seem really unsure of what your doing and what your getting yourselves into so heads up. STAY will come for you 😂 there’s so much deeper to react to than just the music videos as well. Dance practices, live performances, solo songs as well as 3 racha songs. When you love music and are passionate about it you dable into every genre and find your favorites, they have rock covers of songs, songs in Japanese, a pop punk ish beach vibe song, deep trap rap along with UK grime and drill, the dance moves in each you’ll see different nationalities like african as well. There’s also the show called kingdom legendary war where they really grew into what they are now through the performances each week. 😮‍💨 that was a lot.

Thanks for the reaction! If you want to explore more kpop, I'd recommend checking out Shinee, on the one hand they're classic kpop on the other they're pretty experimental (and also extremely talented). You could start with their latest song 'Hard' - I can't tell you what genre it is, but it goes hard :D

This is nice, I'm a rock and metal lover myself, but I fall into tge SKZ rabbit hole and am still exploring after a good year.
I think you should continue with the 'bigger' and newer songs: S-Class, LaLaLaLa Megaverse, Maniac, Venom. And older but really catchy: Miroh.
I recommend to listen with subs on, most songs have deeper meanings.
For some special songs (for different reasons): Red Lights, Taste, Vulcano (solo bij Han), Muddy Water, Christmas Evel, Cover Me.
    Have fun!!!

Y'all being music producers/writers would enjoy the last album they dropped. It's called Rockstar. As you've probably already read, they produce and write nearly all of their music, and they tried to implement a lot of rock vibes in their latest album. As a writer myself, I hope y'all enjoy the rabbit hole you're about to go down. I know I did.

Or- try their PreDebut & Debut songs: Hellevator & District 9.
It just depends on how you want to discover them.
Other favorites: Easy, Thunderous, Maniac, or more vocal focused- Cover Me or Neverending Story.
We hope you continue to enjoy your Stray Kids discovery.

And you have an interesting take on their music. This particular song was their breakout song (other music before this one is just as good and varied in styles and genre) and many new Stay found their music meaningful and insightful.
Look forward to more reactions to Stray Kids.

    They debuted in 2018
    They are ages 23 - 26
    Fandom name is Stay
    #2 Best Selling Artist in U.S 2023
    #3 Globally Best Selling 2023
They are unique for several reasons...
First, the leader Bang Chan was allowed by JYP to hand pick all of the members himself. They were not placed together in a traditional way, by the company.
Second all of them are all arounders. They can all sing, rap, dance, produce and write.
Third, they have written and produced about 99% of their music.
Numbers of songs each member has copyrighted according to Korean Music Association (KOMCA) so far...
Bang Chan 182 (#3 in KPop)
    Changbin 154 (#11)
    Han 148 (#12)
    Hyunjin 27
    Felix 22
    I.N 21
    Seungmin 20
    Lee Know 17
While they can all do everything they do have 3 different subunits...
3Racha... Bang Chan, Chang Bin and Han which are the main producers. They are always credited as 3Racha.
    3Racha Achievements
    - Four Time Billboard 200 #1 Producers
    - Hot 100 Hitmakers
    - 3rd, 11th, 12th Most Credited Idols on KOMCA
    - Produced Albums Sold Over 20 Million Copies
    - Japan Hot 100 Hitmakers
    - 100+ Weeks on Hot 100 Lyricists
    - 100+ Weeks On Hot 100 Composers
    - 2023 Asia Artist Awards Best Creator
    - Makers of Time Magazines 2020 #8 Best Song (their song Backdoor)
Danceracha... Lee Know (in charge of leading dance practices), Felix and Hyunjin. They also contribute to the choreography.
    Vocalracha... Seungmin and I.N
While the songs are hype they always have significant meaning to them. Their lyricism is always insane.
Since they are so experimental their sound has its own genre and they have a very diverse discography.
Example... Gods Menu, Back Door and Case 143 all completely different sounds.

Make Sure that you Turn on the Subtitles so that you'll know what the song is about. I didn't see the Subtitles on the bottom of the mv screen.
You should REALLY check out their other mv's, Thunderous, Easy, Venom, Freeze, Back Door, Christmas EveL, Up All Night, Topline, and LaLaLaLa And their Sub-unit 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin and Han) who are also writers and producers of much of their content and songs. Check out their songs (no mv's) "HeyDay", their name sake song "3RACHA". Stray Kids Genre is so real !!! Its called "Mala Taste" or "Mixed Taste" and they are the pionneer of this genre. No one does it like stray kids. They are Also the King's of Transitions in their mv's.
You should check them out on the Korean Competition show "Legendary Kingdom Wars" back in 2021, where they came in First Place and Won against 5 other kpop groups. They also wrote the Intro and Ending song to the Japanese Anime "Tower of God" Top is the Intro song to TOG (Tower of God) and their song "Slump" is the ending song. You should check out them performing in Studio on "First Take". Stray Kids wrote both songs for the Japanese Anime it, (Tower of God). And in the anime, that "is" what the anime is "all" about. It is about a bunch of people trying to be the first to climb to the top of the Tower. And the protagonist is in love and trys (of course) to win the girl's heart. But that's all I will tell you, you should check it out yourself.

3Racha - Stray Kids' main writing and production unit, consisting of Bang Chan (the leader of Stray Kids), Changbin and Han (two of their main rappers)
Bang Chan was an idol trainee at JYP for several years. While waiting to debut with a group, he formed a rap group called 3Racha with two other trainees, Changbin and Han. They wrote and produced their own music. JYP gave Bang Chan the highly unusual opportunity to help develop his own idol group (which they did through a reality show, but Bang Chan had WAYYYY more say in picking the members than pretty much any other idol trainee in the industry), and when Stray Kids was formed 3Racha was absorbed into that group.
3Racha still performs on occasion. Several of their songs / videos are posted on TH-cam. They write and produce (and often compose/arrange) the vast majority of the music for Stray Kids. But over the years the other members have also gotten involved in writing and production.
    ----------------------------------
Stray Kids debuted in 2018. They started with 9 members (in their early videos, you'll see 9 people performing) but Woojin left in Oct 2019. Stray Kids have been an 8-member group ever since.
    ----------------------------------
DanceRacha - their main dance unit (Hyunjin, Felix (the deep-voiced guy), and Lee Know). But all 8 members dance very well.
    ----------------------------------
VocalRacha - their main vocal unit (Seungmin and I.N). But again, all 8 members have great singing voices and they switch around on lead vocals, depending on he song.
    ----------------------------------
Main rappers - Changbin, Han, Hyunjin and Felix - however unlike many K-pop groups, all 8 members can and have rapped, depending on the song.
    ----------------------------------
    Languages:
Bang Chan (the leader of the group) and Felix (deep-voiced guy) are both Korean-Australian, so English is their first language. The other 6 members speak English with varying degrees of fluency.
All 8 members are fluent in both Korean and Japanese. The group can sing and rap in all three languages.
    ----------------------------------
Not all of their music is super hard all the time.
Stray Kids also write / sing beautiful ballads and have also written a few songs for K-drama, anime and video game soundtracks. They also collab with / produce for other idol groups and individual artists from Korea, Japan, China, Thailand and the U.S.
