I bought the vinyl tape about an hour ago on eBay then headed to YT to watch how to apply it. This video came up on my search and now you've convinced me to get the replacement parts instead, I know they are expensive but you only live once. I'll resell the tape. Thanks mate. 😁
Glad it was useful
Thanks to your great video and descriptions, I just replaced my beltline today! Going to do grille next. :)
Glad I could help!
Amazing how much better they look. Why they aren't standard is beyond me! Same with all the other chrome pieces too. Suppose they're just trying to keep some of that mini heritage in the cars still. Wish I could do this on my r53.
Totally agree, they should do it for all gens
@@tweedbean hi tweedbean, hey are there any problems or tips for spray painting the chrome beltline trim gloss or matte black? I would mask it well and keep the trim in place, ie spray it without removing it. 2013 mini R56.
@@rd264 Killallchrome sells the black chrome pieces for a fraction of what this costs but the only drawback is the final quality, it's basically a light chrome black. Doesn't look that great. Much better going with the OEM belt line from Mini.
Seen people try and it always chips and looks awful after some time
Was looking at using tape but changed my mind after seeing this. Great video
Thanks a much better choice
Doing this, just bought the kit. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching, good luck
Looks great! Window tint would complete the look between the black roof and the belt line. Your vids are making me forget the nightmare my R56 was to own. Well, almost. LOL I think I'll just keep watching your videos though. Much cheaper, and no headaches. 😁
Thanks for watching, I have to say the f56 is much more reliable than the r56 generation. Window tints is a good shout
Great instructions. I was a little bit worried to break something and the kit is wasted. If you understand what you do with the clips and you are patient it is easy. It took me less than 1h with thorough cleaning Thanks again.
Thanks for watching, glad it was useful
Here in Belgium, that black contour alone, costs almost €500 from the dealership. Think I might get it from the UK instead, when I visit London sometime this year
Sounds like a plan
Love that mate😊...just got a JCW and the chrome belt line has to now go. ....Have thought about a Black Bonnet Air Scoop on yours ?...would look wicked mate. 👍
Thanks for watching. I actually have a carbon eventuri intake fitted now on mine
hi tweedbean, hey thanks for this great video!! I am thinking of spray painting my chrome beltline trim gloss or matte black - I would mask it well and keep the trim in place, ie spray it without removing it. 2013 mini R56.
Yeah I’ve not seen many do it and it holds up, prep is key. Also assume you’ve seen the belt line tape much simpler and cheaper option
Can you get the OEM black trim for the F57 convertible?
I have not seen it, may be worth you checking with your local mini dealer parts department although I couldn’t find any with a quick google
@@tweedbean ok thanks. My F57 is featured bit on my channel.
Looks great! I wish it came in red since I started a red, white, and blue motif a while back. I've done the tape option but it has faded quite a bit and needs to be redone.
Thanks for watching, now that could be interesting
Doing gods work
Thanks for watching
Do u need a trim removal tool to remove the trim on rear hatchback door?
I would always have them to hand
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻, planning to do this soon 👍🏻
You should!
does it exist for the Clubman?
I’m not sure, your local mini dealership parts department will be able to confirm
do you have a video how to do the the top belt line? mine is getting old.
Top beltline?
The rubber bit around the roofline above the glass.
Great video what was the cost for this and do Mini do these for the R56.Or are the ones you used compatible for the R56 thanks.
Hi they only do this for the F generation, no previous generations. As the cars are different shapes and sizes to previous generations, this will not work on other generations.
Did mine today but one corner of back window bit doesn’t click down properly, tried for ages. The other side went in perfect. Annoying
Very odd, did you get it sorted?
This is the way to go…no way am I putting tape over it.
Thanks for watching
the beltline is currently £369 i think ill just get the tape and redo it once a year for a tenner, when the car gets its annual buff polish wax ect
Always a good alternative
How much does this cost mate?
Prices vary so much you are better checking with your local mini dealership or eBay with the part number in title
👍
Thanks for watching
@tweedbean Just saw your video. Just got a quote from BMW-MINI 400 euros with VAT for the installation, i will do it myself thery're crazy. I suppose it is the same on a 5 doors.
I would guess so but never done it myself on a 5 door
Really nice video, well explained and the look is much cleaner. BUT: That’s an awful amount of styrofoam packaging, shame on BMW and Mini, they should really get an intelligent designer involved and do it like e.g. apple cardboard can look nice and package well and will do the trick too !!
Thanks and totally agree
Do you where this product?
Mini parts department
Camera died. 😂 The back end bit is a pain in the ass to fit.
That rear bit is tricky

Merci
Finde diese Waistline sieht bisschen billig aus. In Hochglanz würde es besser aussehen.
It’s all personal preference. High gloss black plastic tends scratch so maybe that’s why they went that route
