Excellent video. Not long bought a similar age JCW and also looking to de chrome. No great shakes at bodywork removal so I’m looking to add the stick over light and grille covers. Nicely BS free info. 👌

The front looks so much better with the black grill surround & headlamp surrounds makes the red on the grill pop

I get it as it looks cool BUT the chrome looks cool as well and the inside has chrome. At this rate, chrome will be more unique. Chrome gives it contrast more than the black...

I’m looking to do similar, but I fear that the stripes have been in place too long on the bonnet. I just brought a ten year old, and to add to that, it’s red. How old was your car when you pulled the stripes?
It was 6. Needed a polish.
Definitely looks a lot better after the chrome delete.
Just bought a JCW myself and it’s a 21 reg so they started doing the black packs at this point but conveniently left the belt line chrome….
How much did Mini charge you for the OEM black belt line?

Hi mate, where did you get the plinth from for £40? Mines cracked so need to change it.. was it a quick / easy enough job getting the bumper off? I'm clumsy as anything with DIY lol
Really easy taking the bumper off. Plenty of tutorials on here that's why I didn't bother making one. Unfortunately, you need to take the grille surround off too to remove the plinth and it's quite tricky. The listing has expired now, closest I can find is £65.

Fairly sure it is. Most websites selling aftermarket parts I've seen are just reselling from Chinese wholesalers with a bigger profit margin. Fair play to them, easy way to make some money. Saw it a lot when I had the M140i. Don't get me wrong there are companies out there than spend a lot on R&D to produce their own stuff, but for daft things like mirror caps or rolls of vinyl you'll find they all come from the same factory.
@@lookship can’t see if it’s the company I’m thinking of especially with the level of sales…. majority of eBay sales would get poor feedback if they sold China vinyl 👀
