The only one difference b/w in time and on time is for instance- "The meeting was scheduled at 10 am but you arrived in time". So here in time refers you came early to the meeting (may be 9.15 am ) way before the dead line. Then you can also say that "you arrived on time" it refers you just arrived on proper time neither early nor late. So using I arrived in time and on time are correct but there is a slight difference according to the account I have given above.

For my example is "I did a test in time" is it correct or incorrect.
here is 2 examples
John: What did you do today?
Gary: I took a test in class.
or
Sally: How do you think you did on the test?
Michelle: I finished the test on time. The teacher gave us one hour to complete the test.

implies arriving for an event,
Will you be at the party in time to set up (showing up early to set up)
I got to the parade just in time to see the band (I arrived in time to see the band)
on time makes sense for my example from above
