I screamed at this part. Man it felt lile i JUST played a young Kiryu in 0 and now we're here.
Probably one of the few protagonists that has had so much development in so many games and man its crazy.
He is more badass with Grey hair.
I screamed too of joy, it's rare in a game!
Funnily I played through 0-6 in 2024. Loved 0 the best.
it’s funny how i hated his look but then when i played the game not only does it make sense but it makes this moment golden
Everyone who played the series felt it. The moment the first *DONG. DONG.* of Receive You hit, there were chills. Series veterans *know* that tone and what it signifies. If this is going to be our tearful farewell to Kiryu, holy fuck it's going to be in style.
That dying old man voice, holy shit. Takaya Kuroda really brought his A-game in both Gaiden and Infinite Wealth
He really does sound like a man in his 60s with late stage cancer here.
Which makes it even more jarring where Yong Yee just sounds like, an okay impression of Steve Blum as Spike Spiegel
Like a teenager tried to do a tough guy voice, it's laughably jarring in scenes like this. Total miscast
I'm not normally someone who gets into the subs vs. dubs feud. I'm normally fine with either, with maybe a slight preference to dubs. With Yakuza/Like A Dragon, though, I only ever play subs. A big part of that is that I've been playing since the first one. With the exception of the original western release, it's almost all been subs for so long, and I've learned to love the actors. Takaya Kuroda IS Kiryu for me at this point, and anyone else, no matter how good, would just feel wrong.
Best part is that legendary suit is an actual final armor with the best ability in the game.
Is that true? And how do you get the armor?
@@mariojavier3213in the dungeon

Not the best in my opinion.
I prefer detective one or homeless one.
I love how he throws on the suit jacket and the shirt just appears under it.
i guess the usual shirt rip goes both ways
Either he attached them together beforehand, or it’s one of those things where they sew in a fake collar to make it look like you’re wearing two shirts
Funny how Yakuza 0's the only time he had that. And I guess Y6 too.
@@MariusBoss11458 It's a neat trick.
@@emeraldqueen904 Yakuza 0 and 6 shown that they are separate shirts
It's great plot twist when Taichi Suzuki slicked his hair back and revealed he was Kiryu all along.
Also, i think that Joryu guy from Gaiden was also Kiryu all along
U capping dog
Lmfao
woooooow way to spoil who the joryu guy really is, smh my head kyoudai
Nah i think joryu was separate since he has his own game. It's like Yagami with judgment
Source??
Something to note that that Kiryu doesn’t wear this outfit for all of Gaiden. The closest thing to it is once during the coliseum, but he has a mask on during that. So it’s not even the same.
Because he will regain his identity this time
@@Like_a_Tiger.dr0p yep, the achievement you get on steam was "the man who regained his name" after beating the game meaning that he may have finally been released on Daidoji leash
And yet, he wore it when facing Ichiban and his party later on, despite still pretending to be dead. Goes to show how serious he was taking that fight, despite it being just another substory for him.
@@lachlancarter1707I think it represents Kiryu “being the Dragon Of Dojima”. Kiryu only wears the suit when accepting the role of DOD. He also discards the suit during 5 in the beginning.
He actually does just offscreen, he fights Ichiban shortly after the final boss and that was the last time he wore his original suit before the finale of 8
I jumped out of my seat as soon as kiryu rocks his old suit and the receive you started playing
THE HYPE IS REAL
I smiled and yelled :"yes, finally!"
That kpop look didn't suit him.

@@Tofu305 what?
Man it's hard to see Kiryu looking pretty aged.
I know it's life, but damn it hurts.
😿
he did age BUT he aged like fine wine
Nah its majima who’s aged like fine wine
More like surviving cancer treatment rather than natural ageing.
Last game showed him looking pretty sturdy.
to be honest, he already looked like that when he was 20
The worn out suit, greying hair and tired voice. This was beautifully melancholic. One last fight for the dragon of dojima.
just find it funny how all of kiryu's friends are just waiting for him outside the bathroom
you kidding? Seonhee's been waiting for this *her entire life*
A famous star has a ton.
Knowing Ichi, dude's like "maaaan, I needa piss too" lmao
This cutscene gave me fucking goosebumps, and I felt as old as Kiryu realizing I’ve played every single RGG game and it’s all come to this.
Bro ! Same ! I played and beat every Yakuza game. This scene gave me the feels 💯
I started with kiwami 2 and it was amazing.
seeing Kiryu's iconic attire look so faded now together with his aging self, is just a sad thing to watch
Yet still the Moment he pushed his Haar back it became way more dark. He regained his strongest weapon his willpower but lost of All motivation for change. He no doomed man anymore
The suit still looks better here than in Y5 tho
The suit looks the same, only a bit loose because Kiryu got skinnier
just buy a new suit like that and put a hair color black to kiryu and its good again 😂
@@pato6738atleast 5 had actual combat with variations between characters and one of the best mini games ever. Hunting in the mountain. That was so fun. Unlike turn based boring gameplay
One last ride for Kiryu.
RDR2: Dutch's Gang fall apart, Arthur puts his hat back on his head and fights to the end.
LaD Infinite Wealth: Tojo Clan fall apart, Kiryu puts his outfit back on his body and fights to the end.
I love that someone put that comparison
Oh no... then what will be the RDR1 where Ichiban(?) is forced to bring down his old friends by Daidoji only to get betrayed and drowned by the JSDF?
@@jtho8937if you played yakuza enough you'd know the cops are all in on it too though, they need the yakuza money and strength of the tojo. It wouldn't make sense to kill another yakuza, especially the dragon of Yokohama
And the difference is slightly there
Arthur died Honorable
Kiryu Lives Redeemed Himself and Retired
"Tojo clan falls apart"
What else is new in the world of Yakuza?
This is like the third time that receive you remix is used in cutscenes and they STILL HAVEN'T RELEASED IT GNNNGNGNGNGNNGNGGNG
I KNOW! I've been wanting this version for so freakin long!
@@TediousNomenclature have you found ANY version of it ? Ghosh I really want a full one for this
@@aarshdeepondrise I've only seen one on youtube from LAD where Kiryu shows up. Voices are kind of edited out and there are still sound effects, but no clean original version of it, unfortunately
Someone please find it, I tried for 2 hours after work, and couldn’t 😢
@@spat3305still nothing unfortunately
Love how this game is Kiryu finding his will to live again and I’m sorry but Iciban n Kiryu is the best team up for a game like damn they went all out
The hardest thing for people like kiryu isnt getting killed its growing old and actually facing the torment of life. People like Kiryu are truly free to live life to the fullest and actually surviving all those instances and accepting you may not die by the sword as its own share of problems. Live by the sword die by the sword but when you can overcome those obstacles you start to wish for the sword instead.
True to an extent. He's been chasing his death for so long that it feels beautiful when he finally stops and decides to embrace the life he has left. He deserves a bit of happiness, and even though his time as a fighter is well and truly over, there's a possibility he can survive the cancer. If not, he can at least spend his remaining days with his daughter, in long-overdue peace at last.
What gets me from this scene is that it's the end of an era. More than 20 years that we've been with Kiryu and this is probably but hopefully not, the last time we will see him putting that suit on, the last time we will see the Dragon of Dojima rise and the last time Kiryu will fight.
For me i cried during this scene, watching the man i admire looking so skinny and old hurt me in my soul, the man that once could fight entire armies one after the other now can barely handle a few of them without his allies. But even then he is still the strongest, if his fight against Majima, Daigo and Saejima is something to go off he still has that strenght that even at his lowest he can still go head to head and come out on top.
Amen my friend. I couldn't summarize all the emotions and thoughts about this scene better.
My guess? This is his last fight, but not the last time we’ll see him. We’ll probably see him pop up in Yakuza 9, or maybe a cameo at the end, showing him at peace with the kids. Give him a happy ending
@@Twocoolman115 Probably a cameo, he likely won't be showing up as a main character anymore due to his age
@@Twocoolman115he's probably gonna be a lasting character who gives advice and old stories but doesn't fight anymore
Hurts seeing the dragon like this...he looks tired but stiil eager to throw hands
Hurts me even more to know that his whole life has been about cleaning the yakuza's mess, and cleaning the yakuza's mess will also be his final act.
Also hurts that he had to be the solution to the problems near him.
But thankfully, this time, he wasn't alone.
He may be dying. He may be old.
But a dragon is STILL a dragon.
Resurrected with his name reclaimed.
Kiryu wearing a grey suit with grey hair really feels like a legend to him
I cant believe a fucking Yakuza game has bigger content to offer than fucking Starfield. This game is huge.
And this game has been in development for 2-3 years
Why is that surprising ? Western developers are trash, they can’t make an interesting game to save their life’s.
@@Louis_Guiabern alongside Gaiden too, impressive on RGG, shameful and pathetic on Bethesda, tbh.
Yakuza games were always about smaller maps with dense content tbh
More than 90h on infinite wealth and not touch sujimon fights, minigames, remains more than 12 side quests, a few safes to unlock, etc.
It's genuinely upsetting that RGG still hasn't released this version of Receive You in the OST. Probably the best Receive You ever.
Kratos pulling out the Blades of Chaos and Kiryu slicking back the hair and donning the suit, absolute baller moments when it comes to Old Dudes Who Still Got It.
*The Legendary Dragon of Dojima puts on his suit for one last time…*
This moment deserves to go hard if this means the final time we see him in that suit
The suit looks so baggy on him now :((
Kind of reminiscent of his older designs when the suit looked too big on him
because it IS baggy from the start.
@@suijin3129it isnt, those were hardware limitations.
Kiryu is suppoused to be more skinny in this game because of his condition.
@@Jose-se9puI see. I think the only time it's baggy is in LAD 5 right?
And Kiryu has been wearing that suit since Yakuza 0 epilogue (1989) for almost 34 years for now in Yakuza 8 (2023) plus the suit is now outdated and the suit back then was flashies suit during the bubble era of 80s.
One last ride for the legend.
we need the OST for this so bad 😭
its the Receive you ost
i want someone to try to gamerip it
without any sound effects nor voices, just the OST
Really wish this version was on the OST but seeing how it wasn't on 7 or Gaiden's, they're either saving it for a Receive You collection soundtrack or are never going to release it.
@@solidneptune6423 im hoping that they do release it, however i am aware of the chances it won't ever release.
one last ride . .... for now
He looks so fucking good, he actually finally looks correctly aged in the suit
one of my fave things about this and Kiryu's entrance in 7 is Ichiban's reaction
he doesn't really know this dude, never saw him in his prime and when he walks out you can see that hesitation in his eyes - and then it immediately gives way to awe.
Ichiban might have had second thoughts if this dude can handle an army solo or if him coming back is a good idea at all, but it takes no input from Kiryu for him to realize whoever stands against him is fucked
He is literally Vergil.
You know that bathroom must have smelled fucking NASTY
He really is like a dragon.
Kiryu is everything that is right in this world
Even the slick back hair makes him look like a dragon.
Say that again?
Kinda wish Kiryu looked at the player after putting the suit on “ya’ll know what time it is” 😂😂😂
“Its time to be like a dragon. And gain infinite wealth”
This had me in tears
Not tears but intense joy for a few seconds.
Return of the old dragon and the ever rising new one
For the longest time, i thought it was a wig for his agent disguise lmao
Just like the Logan 2017 film
This theme always feels like Kasuga and Kiryu theme. Like the first part is Kiryu's and the Rock part is Kasuga's.
That scene made me euphoric!
This aura needs to be studied
I cant help but think this whole scene would've been way cooler if
1, kiryu stopped wearing the suit after yakuza 4
2, we didnt play as ichi straight after this scene
All this man did was slick back his hair, and it was Go Time... dayum memorable iconic scene.
Right as he slicked the hair back, he became the infinite wealth.
1:05 Majima everywhere would be watching from up there.
Is it just me or is the shirt a bit duller now? I remember the red shirt being a lot brighter in previous games, that's a nice touch showing Kiryu's age if it's intentional. It's still the Dragon of Dojima's suit but just like the man wearing it, it's lost the life in it too
He's had it for at least two whole decades by now, only makes sense that the colors would start fading to be honest
oh i didn't notice this. But yes, its especially noticeable with the red shirt
Looked great during 6 when you would walk around without the blazer jacket
It looks more like his original suit from ps2
The filter makes it dull
Kiryu with his iconic look but mixed with grey looks so cool ... hopefully we will get to play him again after he heal and recovered or maybe we could play game when he is recovering and slowly getting his strengh back that would be really nice maybe another gaiden or something like that ... even though it is hard to imagine RGG giving him happy end
Nah I want a game with akiyama tanemura and shinada. I really liked those different variations of gameplay especially akiyama. Fighting like akiyama was so fun
@@dranzerjetli5126 why not both ?
@@jaroslavmihok740 Because there's a 98% chance that Kiryu retired after his treatment
this might be my favorite scene in the franchise. Gaiden and infinite wealth just make you empathise so much with kiryu and his small dialogue about not even being allowed to dress like himself was even bothering him. Then FINALLY he can be himself again. The grey hair might be his best look

Have they ever once mentioned before this that the hair hes had all game is just the result of him letting his hair down? Bc it didn’t look natural until the game came out and now this just makes it better
Well, he got cancer from, as trailers showed - radioactive waste
