Same here! I watch it every couple of years. I actually watch it more than the original since there are things about it that I just find comforting.
I was wondering if you were going to go 3for3 and prefer the remake to the original. Lol. I have never seen Ringu or its sequels, I did catch The Ring on video and thought it was effectively creepy, strong performance by Naomi Watts and a well done film. Yeah the early 2000's not a good time for American horror. As for why some people dislike the movie, perhaps it has a bit to do with being spoofed in one of the Scarry Movies. One tidbit if I recall correctly, the young actress that played Samara had a pivotal role in Big Love (HBO series)
I think you might be right about Scary Movie. That part is funny though lol. I dont know if I’ve ever seen her in anything but it looks like she has done a fair amount of stuff.
