I like the movie, but I can really feel how overlong it is on subsequent viewings. He really dropped the ball on not establishing the connection between Art amd the kid's father!
I used to feel that way too, but I watched an interview with Damien Leone recently and he said that it will all be tied up in the future, so I imagine part 3 will address some of those things.
My cousin in croatia had that movie on vhs in the 90s. I was traumatized as a kid watching it. Had a few sleepless nights after watching.
Great memories, eh?! I think we all have a movie or two that traumatized us. I have a few, like the exorcist.
I love this video pls make more it's the best
Thank you! I will review Terrifier 3 as soon as it comes out!
Might have to rewatch this as I only remember the lab scene 😂
By far the most memorable part of the movie, for better or worse.
Ha! Louie can squeak it!
@scratchd0g He sure does! Sometimes at the worst moments 😁
Like you I saw the film in the theater, which might have been the only time that I watched the complete film (probably caught a few minutes here or there on cable over the years). I recall the interesting take on the Ripley character and the memorable character of Vriess, and not much else. And of course the Winona Ryder "twist", which seemed obvious. I believe your last pronunciation of "Jeunet" was right or close to it, I sucked at French in high school but the "t" is not pronounced.
Yeah…Winona’s twist was not all that great. I’m already second guessing my 6.5 score haha. That said, I’ll always have a bit of a soft spot for it.
Ha Ha this brought me back to the days when I managed a Kay-Bee Toy store!!
I miss Kay-Bee!!! Still think about it all the time lol
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth It was a great job!!
Hahaha these are pretty cool much better than what I expected for $16
Yeah me too haha
The trailer looked great and your review definitely backs it up. Hahaha I still like Darkman. Yeah cinemas are always next to empty when I go but I usually go in the morning or afternoon. Oh man that story has made all the wrong images appear in my head 🤢😬🤣
Darkman rules! Still holds up pretty well I think.
I recommend "Incantation," an awesome Korean film that's one of the best I've ever seen. Genuinely scary stuff. Keep the vids coming man 🤘
I love Korean horror! I’ll definitely look into that!
Probably needed to use the bathroom really urgent and didn´t wanted to go during the movie.
@@dbdeets That could be! He did walk past all the bathrooms on the way out of the building, but some people don’t like public bathrooms.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth The movie has a longer running time. So perhaps he was off on his timing. 😁
Thanks for encouraging to go see this. It is well worth everyone's time.
stinky pinky
I definitely assumed you would dig it for numerous reasons
You know me and Body Horror, but you made me wanna see this. Hella Props!!
It’s not realistic, like you said body horror never is, but it works because it’s not really supposed to be. I think you might like it.
Certainly on my list, this movie, unfortunately I have not much time to watch a lot these days.
Life is too busy sometimes. I know what you mean.
Check out "The Borderlands" from the UK (2013). Starts of slow but the ending is quite unique. Cheers!
Thanks for the reminder, I have wanted to see that for years!
Frogman was excellent. The Fear Footage trilogy is worth checking out as is their last film Project eerie. I blame society and 1974 la posesion de altair are two others worthy of viewing.
Those were not on my radar! Thanks for the recommendations.
What's with TH-cam giving notifications on shorts days after they're uploaded? Frogman? 😮 You know that's gonna be good or hopefully really bad it's good 😂 I take it back lol but TH-cam was doing that 🤦♂️
Haha I was gonna say, I just uploaded it! Getting some stuff together to send you, by the way, should be next week.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth Hahaha yeah I jumped the gun as usual with that one! 😅 Cheers Eli it's really appreciated! I'm still waiting to see some goats and blood from you or even just a goat would suffice 😅 I'm sure you could incorporate it with a film or two? Contest goes on for a few more weeks but I'm not closing it until you've entered 🤣 no pressure! 😆
Unless I've seen the trailer here I haven't seen it! 😅 I'm going to go check it out now though. Sounds like a movie title I've probably seen so I'll have to check out the original too haha 🍻
Damn right Simon! I should be your only source of movies 😂
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth Hahaha you sound like one of my old drug dealers 🤣
@pieface8032 Nice! I feel like a character from Snatch or Pulp Fiction or something.
I heard the remake isn't as dour and devastating as the OG!!
I totally believe that. I’ve been told the OG as really good, but likely not something you’ll watch twice. One of THOSE movies…haha.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth Totally!! It made me SO MAD the first time, I won't ever revisit it!!
I loved Terrifier and Terrifier 2, I also really enjoyed All Hallow's Eve. I can't wait for Terrifier 3. Damien Leone is my new favorite horror director definitely.
I have a lot of respect for him, for sure. Can’t wait for part 3.
Terrifier is one of the most garbage horror movies I've ever seen. I can't even fathom how there's a sequel.
Pretty polarizing, I get how it’s not for everyone.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth Well, that's I suppose true of absolutely everything but that doesn't justify it or make it worthwhile. The acting is bad. The cinematography is bad, the effects are bad. Was there music ? I can't even remember. There's no character development at all, which for some reason you're fine with ? ... What is actually redeeming about it ? It's not treading new ground. It doesn't have something to say. Why do I care about anything that goes on in the movie ? As I watched it I wondered what I was getting out of it. It wasn't escapism. It wasn't living vicariously through any of the characters. At the end I was no different than when I started except I was older by the run time of the movie. Cheers ! Thanks for the convo.
Totally agree with the Freddy Krueger comparison
Totally dug this one.
It’s a lot of fun!
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth I really dug,” the deliverance.” From Lee Daniels. African-American demonic. Unapologetic unflinching.
I recently picked up the 4k scream factory slip just to round out having them all. I’ve only seen it once and while it’s not the worst in the franchise I remember not loving it. I do need to give a rewatch.
It’s hard to justify its existence. I can’t see myself watching it too often, but it isn’t terrible, i had a little fun with it.
This was very hard to get through. It’s definitely the worse anthology for me so far from this franchise.
Glad it wasn’t just me!
I decided to skip this one. The reviews from pretty everyone have been just awful. Sometimes A24 hits for me and other times they make some stinkers.
I don’t think it’s the worst thing ever made like most reviews, but I can’t really fully recommend it. I don’t think you would like it, honestly.
I watched deadpool and wolverine yesterday for a furst date. Went really well!
Awesome, that would be a good date movie I would think!
I watched Beetlejuice last night! I watched Haunt for the first time and enjoyed it as well.
The original Beetlejuice? Or Beetlejuice Beetlejuice lol. And did you watch the Haunt that is about the haunted house attraction type thing? Because I’ve been wanting to see that.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Yeah Haunt is about the haunted house, good movie imo.
I like to think of Curse of the Blair Witch, Blair Witch Project and Blair Witch as a nice trilogy. Blair Witch was a great theatrical experience for me as I had the cinema to myself then when I left found it had gotten dark outside so wandered alone down back alleys to my car. I'd also been camping a few days before where you hear lots of creaking sounds in the night which the movie exaggerated to great effect. It all added up to a great creepy experience watching it at the cinema. It was too much of a retread of the original though rather than moving the series forward. Having Heathers much younger brother think she's still alive living out in the woods seemed silly too. They could have just had him go out there to investigate what happened to her rather than trying to actually find her alive.
I totally overlooked the part where James was like 4 when Heather went missing. He likely has little to no memory of her. But I do wish I had seen this in the theater, like I did for the first one. I had a similar experience though, everyone in the theater seemed pretty creeped out and it was very quiet from what I remember. I was 17, and lived in a rural town and had a 30 minute drive home by myself…I was creeped out until the next day.
"somewhat entertained" 😢 I really liked the trailer but from your review it seems it didn't delve deep enough into everything the trailer portrayed. I still want to see this at some point though 😄
It’s not terrible. Some people really hate it. My gf liked it, maybe a bit more than me.
I'll let you know if I see anything? 😅 I did watch Sisu yesterday which was pretty good
I loved Sisu!
HAPPY 🥅 🏒 🔪 🩸 TO YOU TOO… not sure about what I’m gonna watch…
Well, let me know! Cheers, James.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth think I’m gonna start with the new Lee Daniels horror on Netflix. “Precious” is terrifying and it ain’t horror so fingers crossed this will be good 🤞🏾
I was 21 when the 1st one came out. Me and a friend of mine went to see it i think it was us two and another man in the theater that day. 1999 was just a great time...miss those days.
Yeah, there’s not a lot of mystery anymore. I kinda miss those days as well.
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth to think we were around doing the beginnings of Found footage movies is a trip in it's self.
@ButtaMilkBiscuitsGaming Another great point! I still like the genre. Obviously it’s been done to death, but I still think there are a lot of gems.
It's been some years since I watched it, but I still remember the impression it gave me. To me, the third Blaire Witch was more of a morbid monster movie, than the eerie, moody, woodsy, mysterious, witchy movie that the first one was. 🎃
You are correct, I definitely prefer the first movie!
Didn't realise there's a 3rd Blair Witch. The first one is always going to be one of the best films ever whether you like it or not. Predictable or not I still want to watch it, hopefully I don't regret it 😅
I would say check it out. It certainly isn’t terrible. That’s cool you have such a high opinion of the original!
I actually like them all for different reasons, but I think this one is my favorite. It all comes down to more like able characters.
I’m one of those that likes the characters from the first one. I know a lot of people didn’t like them, but I did for some reason.
"No Wake" is my favorite of this one!!
Yeah it was cool. Like a unique zombie story.
This is exactly what I needed I've been dancing around this movie for like the past two days. You convinced me, I'm watching it. Thank you!
Well I hope you like it! Let me know what you think.
Sounds like this is better to watch on dvd than vhs as it'll be easier to skip past the middle stories ⏭️ 😆
Haha. But then you would miss some of the wraparound scenes, which are cool.
Yes, along with Argento's Jennifer are the best!! I love movies about lost movies. This, The Hills Run Red, and Antrum have all covered this subject.
@@infernusrex796 I have both of those! Good point, it’s a really cool topic, I might have to look around to see if there are others out there. I guess there is Scream, with the “Stab” movies, but you never get to see those, and I doubt you’re a fan anyways.
Yes. Yes it is.
Agreed!
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth this and the Boondock Saints are my favorite Norman Reedus things ever he’s done in his career.
@jamesgwarrior1981 Boondock Saints is definitely going to be what he is known for, even long after he is gone. He seems like a cool dude, just in general.
I can tell by the average view duration that the bird sqwaking is a problem, haha. He’s cute at least!
I didn't get that far 😂 I burnt onto dvd the first couple of series of masters of horror when they came out as I really liked alot of episodes, but I don't really remember them not even the 2 I bought on dvd a while back 🤦♂️ so I'm going to see if YT has your top 3 and give them a watch.
It’s only a minute in! Haha, I’d say it’s a terrible video in that case 😂
@@darkhymnsfromthecoldnorth Hahaha 😅 I've just ordered the first series
That’s awesome!
👍
Definitely a good one. The Takeshi Miike one is also great, but this was a great comeback from carpenter! Cheers
It was cool seeing him give a shit again! He was kind of over it at that point I think. Cheers, Ed!
Cool shirt. Nice HALLOWEEN III edition. I like it too a lot. Very special.
Glad you like it too, some people don’t!
The Sadness is crazy, it does live up to the hype with the hyper violence. It does have mean spirited torture parts but it’s very watchable.
It’s a hard balance to find sometimes!
Good horrors released this year that I’ve seen are Longlegs, The Watchers and I just saw Oddity which was great. Haven’t seen the new Alien film yet. Nosferatu, Heretic and The Devils Bath are three I’m looking forward to that are coming out.
I’ve heard very good things about the devils bath, so I’m interested in that. I’m also looking forward to Nosferatu, I’m an. Eggers and I think it’s going to be great. Longlegs and Oddity are two of my favorites from this year.
Have you seen The Woman in Black from 1989? It’s my favourite horror film of all time.
I actually have not! I wasn’t familiar with it either, so I looked it up. I have seen the remake from some years back, which I liked ok. I need to see this one!
I wish I would have enjoyed this. I just left the movie feeling kinda meh with it. It wasn’t terrible but, i doubt I’d watch it again.
