Their versions sound like they are singing about a woman. If you pay attention, Donny Hathaway is singing TO THE LORD. Notice the other versions sing A SONG FOR YOU, MR. Hathaway sings A SONG TO YOU! Most Christians pick up on this, and that is what makes his song so special!
