Absolutely gorgeous. What a lunch you were served! And those grounds, wow. The interior just sings the song of the owner's own utterly unique and highly committed character. Masculine, erudite, unconventional and hugely atmospheric. I can only imagine what the sitting lounge inside looks like at the time of day when you think of turning the inside lamps on. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing Mr Montoya's great taste with us all.
Susanna has the unique gift and ability to seem at ease and as if she's known all her hosts and hostesses for years. Seems easy but I don't think everybody could do her "job."

What a glorious masterpiece --- brings tears to the eyes!
I'm not a particularly outdoorsy person but the garden that Juan and Urban have is out of this world: so peaceful and simple and beautiful and would be in all four season. I'd love to go through the many books in their home and select a few to read outdoors when I'm not simply enjoying the beauty all around. And if Urban wanted to fix a lunch for me, well, all the more to enjoy!

I remember Montoya from years of reading AD. He had a sense of eclecticism one did not see elsewhere; his work was always curious and engaging. Thanks for such a delectable snippet. Were I to come into money, this is the sort of estate I would have, set with magnificent grounds where I could wander around; the world would never see me again, lol. (And I love when the host/hostess (Laura Slatkin, Carolyn Roehm, Timothy Corrigan) offers you lunch, what a treat!) But Montoya needs an electric gate, lol!
We love Juan's work too and his grounds are so inspiring - in fact he published an entire book on La Formentera! And yes, lunch is always a treat!

Love the entry to the yard and the coziness. There are too many unsafe looking stairs for me but this is still one of my favorites.

I love and agree with his sentiments - We have fresh herbs for our lunch and thats luxury. I love that .... luxury indeed has nothing to do with materialistic nature of things but how you elevate your experiences of the most basic things.

I second the motion! Juan and Urban's place inside and out is so nice that I can imagine someone being there all the time year-round. We sometimes here about people who rarely if ever leave their home and this could be home to stay in not because of being a recluse but because it's so wonderful.

IT'S SO INTERESTING THAT IN BIG CITIES people use so many cars,the oxygen is so dirty,people have so quick rhythm and look as robot but when they are in nature with trees and flowers they get so happy and more kind!!!!it means that nature is our inner, we must respect it🎃🎃🎃
