Manny doesn't get enough credit for the hitter he was.. he batted .312 with 555 home runs and 2574 hits. Manny made the postseason 11 times, with 4 world series appearances, 2 world series rings, and a world series MVP. He's a 12x allstar, 9x silver slugger, 2x hank aaron award recipient. Manny Ramirez also holds the mlb record for most postseason home runs with 29 in just 111 games vs playoff pitching rotations. Never seen a right handed batter with a smoother swing and such effortless power. Steroids or not this man should be in the HOF, what a phenom.
Agreed. Certainly the purest right-handed swing of his generation. Haters gonna hate. He was a scatterbrained airhead with the mind of a child. Maybe he was faking it, but I think he probably didn't even know what PEDs were until he was pushing 40. Look at his build when he was on the Indians and Red Sox. That was a normal build for a man in his 20s and 30s.
Manny caught the ball, ran to the warning track, jumped, gave a Red Sox fan a high five, threw the ball to the second baseman, then the second baseman threw it to the first baseman to get the out.... god that runner is slow as fuck
Manny didn't need to juice. Sure maybe it enhanced some of those moon-shots, but he was still one of the most talented hitters ever. He could go with any pitch and get a hit out of it, and despite his reputation of Manny being Manny, he was a hard worker.
Levi Lively Juniors is smooth by default just because he’s a lefty and for some reason lefties make everything look smooth, you never really see a right handed swing as smooth as Mannys
Wow, I had never ever seen that first video! Classic Manny! Holy crap, some of these home runs..... Included the moment when he high-fived the fan in Baltimore and then doubled the dude off! My favorite Manny moment of all time.
I always loved him as a player. His antics were...charming, and never cost his team a game (that I can think of?) He had the most brilliant right-handed swing the game has ever seen, and he was a surprisingly good fielder when he had to be. The time he high-fived a fan in Baltimore will go down as one of the funniest things I've ever seen, and the fact that he threw out the runner tagging at first makes it that much better. It was actually a spectacular over-the-back catch too (which nobody ever remembers), and his momentum legitimately carried him to the wall. (Not Mays-ian, but spectacular in its own right.) The fact that, while making the athletic, instinctive, heads-up double play, his goofy personality came through as he high-fived that fan, and didn't get in the way of him completing the double play. Just awesome. His athleticism was at the level where it looked so effortless that it gave the perception that he wasn't trying... but you don't hit 500 home runs in a career without trying. Then he failed a PED test there at the end and it was never quite the same. Oh well. I say he still deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. But that's another discussion for another day!
At 1:01, the home run he hits was officially listed as 501 feet. However, a lot of guys on the red sox speculate that the ball went further than that, but the red sox management didn't want Manny to break Ted Williams' long standing record of 502 feet. That home run also came the pitch after Manny swung and missed at a curveball in the dirt, after which he showed frustration intentionally to try and get the pitcher to throw another one. Truly a great hitter.
When he was at Boston I would watch him bat and he had a talent for selecting which pitch to swing at and let go. He could tell if the ball would be a strike or not. His ability at read a pitch was off the charts. Fun to watch the pitcher and catcher try to figure out ways to stoke him out.
Can you imagine being a pitcher battling Manny in a close game, and looking at the on-deck circle only to see David Ortiz? That, IMO, was the toughest 3-4 batters in MLB history.
Easily the sweetest right handed swing I've ever seen. Especially that early Manny swing when he was still rail thin. These highlights are all home runs, but Manny would normally maintain a strong batting average as well - he even won the batting title once.
Pure hitter, was born to hit a baseball. That first career hit was such a Manny moment, what a great laugh! I think the three defensive highlights shown there were probably the only three defensive highlights of his career ; ) I miss his goofiness.
Manny really flew under the radar during his years in Cleveland. We let him do his mashing, commit the occasional blunder and otherwise let him be. It wasn’t until his Boston days that the Manny being Manny image really exploded onto the scene.
Crazy!!! manny ramirez a very humble player who made the game of baseball look easy💪🏼 It brings back memories when the Red Sox had the most feared lineup in the MLB.
Being a Sox fan I will forever be a Manny fan. I swear he was the most exciting hitter I have ever seen in Fenway. That park fit his hitting style like a kid glove. Papi hit the boomers and the walk-offs, and has so many memorable moments, but Manny was just a pure swinger. It was effortless for him.

Just Manny being Manny! Best and most enjoyable player in Red Sox history, in my opinion. There won't be another like him for a long time. From what I hear, the Japanese were excited to welcome him into their organization and country. The Sox just aren't what they used to be.
From his first hit in the league him doing the home run trot on a ground rule double, it’s always been Manny being Manny 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ favorite player of all time
0:27 as a kid we had a Cleveland Indians highlight tape called "wahoo what a finish". I remember watching this Homerun over and over and over. I thought it was so cool

+Klei Lee what? His best days were as a Red Sox player. Manny won 2 rings with Boston and played 2 years with Los Angeles. My all time favorite player on the Sox
Had some great Seasons in Cleveland as well including one season with Amazing 165 RBIS averaging more than 1 RBI per game and also his last season in Cleveland his highest OPS season of his career (1.154). Video should be 55 percent Red Soxs, 40 percent Indians and 5 percent end of career teams.
Manny was the only player who really got me to watch the game and even though i don't like what he did as far shooting up or whatever he was still a master when it came to blasting the ball.
Makes the catch, slaps five with a fan, throws the relay for the out... Manny, Greatness
Lol! That was Cold Blooded!!!
How about finding a Red Sox in an opposing park
I saw this play live. Manny was an all-time great.

No fucking way.Roids do not make one great.
Big papi and Manny was the scariest 3, 4 combo any lineup has ever seen.

No doubt about it!!!

Levi Lively Juniors is smooth by default just because he’s a lefty and for some reason lefties make everything look smooth, you never really see a right handed swing as smooth as Mannys
Ken Griffey JR guys come on

Yes for Griffey. I loved Reggie Jackson's swing too. Also Will Clark from SF Giants
***** I'm an old Blue Jay fan so I remember Delgado. He was BEAST too.
Probably was. That was the "cork bat/steroid era" Like 50 dudes would hit 50 homers. Delgado was among them.
Mannys was fantastic but the best right handed swing was edgar Martinez
