you know what's funny, that damn toxic glitch is back in the gen 4 remakes
What's really cool about the fire fang hitting wonder guard glitch is that if you hack a spiritomb in with the ability. It had no weakness as fairy wasn't introduced in this generation. Then if you try to face the elite four with spiritomb garchomp will actually know to use firefang as a move to hit.
That's pretty funny the AI is smart enough to pull from this quirk
here's an explanation: when the ai is going for damage it rolls and then chooses the highest damaging move, since fire fang would be the only move that doses damage they would always choose it if going for damage (going off my gen 3 knowledge, may have been changed in gen 4 but im quite sure it works similarly if not the sam)
regarding the emerald glitch, i can confirm that you can use the move option to clone an entire box at once lol. I may or may not have done that when i was like 10 to have a full box of charizards and zapdos' lol

The acid weather glitch is one of the weirdest glitches I know of
So the Gen 1 fishing in statues thing: using the Great and Super Rods won't work because gym statues don't have wild data, but an Old Rod should still get you a Magikarp, since the Old Rod doesn't factor in encounter data for it's catches, it just has a probability of landing a Magikarp when a use is successful.
Also, I think Cerulean gym has wild encounters, but that may be in FRLG, but if it is in Gen 1, the statues there should have encounter data.
In Red and Blue, the Cerulean City gym did have fishing encounters unintentionally. This was fixed in Yellow. However, it actually returned in Gold and Silver due to the map data for Kanto not being copied from Yellow.
If you can carry a fishing/surfing encounter table into a gym you should be able to encounter pokemon in there. I don't know if it's possible, but that's the same principle behind encountering Missingno in Cinnabar.
In the Emerald cloning glitch, you don’t even have to start the saving process. Once the first “yes” option pops up, you can reset the game and that works. The false save that creates the duplicate Pokémon occurs during that long pause before the “Would you like to save your game” prompt.
Correct and it doesn't matter how you withdraw the pokemon from the box either. I believe the glitch is possible because during that pause the game only saves your party information to the save file while it doesn't save the box data.
I came here to say this exact same thing, but I figured someone else probably said it first. I was right.

Oooh, that "skipping the game" glitch at the start of gen 1! People talk about that one so rarely, really cool that you included it! Fun fact though: It doesn't work just in Pokémon Yellow, it works in gen 1 in general; when I did it in the past, I used Pokémon Red for it. The funniest thing is that you can do this fast enough to finish with a timer of 0:00... xD

Small correction: The famous Missingno and the depicted 'M, while similar, are NOT the same Pokemon. They have the same effects of duplicating items and messing up the hall of fame data, and this is related to how the game unpacks sprite data. They both have a null value for their dex number, which results in being 000, and Pokemon sprites are loaded based on the dex number. The sprite decompression overflows into unrelated data, which happen to be related to the hall of fame and the item bag, causing these common effects.
However, their INDEX numbers are different (Missingno can be a myriad of index numbers, but 'M is always 000) and the actual code behind them is different. For example, it's not that they can sometimes turn into other Pokemon, but rather that catching 'M will continue the battle, and catching it again gives you a Ditto, because of how the game interacts with an index of 000 and its handling of the Transformed state (related: catching a Transformed Mew will get you a Ditto for this reason as well).
Thank you, I came to the comments to see if anyone had said that. 'M can be dangerous but Missingno is generally safe, and when people refer to them as the same thing, it spreads misinformation about Missingno being dangerous.
If you rare candy the 'M it evolves from a zapdos cry kangaskhan to a normal kangaskhan as well
Emerald has my favourite cloning glitch- not only is it the most efficient, it's also the safest.
One of my favourite glitches is absolutely useless, but still funny. In Red and Blue, if you go on the route below Cerulean City but above the Daycare Centre, if you position yourself correctly, as you go up and down the path, the trees on the side will disappear and reappear.
I thought I was the only one seeing that. Lol
The same thing happens on Cycling Road! Inaccessible tiles to the west swap between between ocean and forest tiles.
6:26 was the real hidden glitch. MandJTV never would’ve let that happen hahaha
I always liked the item duplication glitch that's caused by MissingNo in Red/Blue. Used that a lot when I was a kid.
There's this weird glitch where if I do a Nuzlocke I always seem to lose horribly. So buggy!
Correction: on the Pokémon yellow hall of fame glitch, it doesn’t actually matter what your name and rival’s name are, it’s a common misconception, also the same glitch can be done in red and blue
I remember abusing the cloning glitch in Gold...deposit a pokemon and change to an empty box and turn off the game while the "saving, dont turn off" message was on. If you moved to a box with any pokemon in it, you would erase that pokemon from your save file. You could do this with up to 5 pokemon, and I even did to start a game with all starters lol.
In the Cerulean Gym, you actually *can* fish a Pokémon inside the gym statue.
The best cloning glitch was the one in Gold & Silver imo. You don't have to do any running around, just moving mons and restarting the game halfway through saving.
I abused the hell out of this as a kid, and I swore I read about it in some sort of official document, like the manual or perhaps a strategy guide
@@landshark3509 probably the same place I found out about it, one of those old "Tips and Tricks" cheat code magazines or something. I used to scan new issues for relevant codes and cheats whenever I was at the news agency lol
Yeah I got pretty good at it. I used to to get multiple versions of the egg they give you at the day care that has a better than normal chance of being shiny, so I ended up with quite a few shiny babies.
This is pretty impressive, since you actually did the 12 glitches in less than 12 minutes, considering the intro and outro xD
I think the most useless ones are my favorites, especially fishing in the statues

Maybe you've talked about it before, but here's a weird glitch that I, a big Silvally fan, find funny:
Silvally was supposed to be able to learn all three pledges in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Fire Pledge, Water Pledge and Grass Pledge, but due to some coding error, the move tutor can only teach it Grass Pledge ... for some reason. That still is the case in Sword & Shield and I would really like to know what happened there exactly
Speaking of black/white walk through walls, there's a tile in the ice gym that you can walk through and even skip a trainer!

Toxic is really the pokemon move that makes the least amount of actual sense. Not even the glitch, just the fact that every pokemon is somehow hazardous to human life using nebulous purple goo.
And then they tried to retcon it in Gen 8 for some reason.
I mean in gen 1 every Pokemon that could learn TM's could learn Mimic, aka learn literally any move. I think that's a bit crazier than Toxic but yeah that doesn't make much sense either

I love Bike on Water and Emerald cloning, and I ESPECIALLY love the goofy useless collision errors in Gens 3-5. Harmless glitches are the best!
Calling 'M a MissingNo. Seems wrong. Also, iirc, you can catch Pokemon in Lorelei's statue.
(6:14) In addition, the step counter app stops at 99999 in BSDP, but I believe it just rolls over back to 00000 in the original Gen. 4 games. Usually, I would just let the step counter keep counting and rolling over naturally, but in my Brilliant Diamond game, I have to manually reset it whenever it hits 99999 if I want it to keep counting steps.

The "Enter the Hall of Fame without Pokémon" glitch goes far, far beyond that. It's a technique known as "arbitrary code execution". There are videos showing people doing really strange things with it, like showcasing brief segments of dozens of other games all in a row (including Pokémon GSC and The Legend of Zelda). Another made it show an icon from a popular TV show while playing an 8-bit version of the show's theme song.

10:36 Correction on Emerald cloning glitch. You don't have to use "Withdraw", you can use "Move Pokemon" with no issues. The main logic behind this glitch is that you're saving your party, bag and player location, but it doesn't save your PC. So in the end it doesn't matter how you transfer the pokemon/items between the PC and your player character. You can even use the "Move Items" PC option to clone items at a bigger scale if your boxed pokemon are holding items you want to clone.
Also, dude no! Don't power off/reset during that pause, instead wait for it to end and the usual save prompt to appear, then exit out of the save prompt and soft reset. If you do rest during that pause, you risk mistiming it and possibly corrupting the save!
When I'd beat a gym leader I used to use the fishing rod on their statue to symbolize myself pissing on their kamidana.

10:38~10:43 Actually, I don't think it matters if you select Withdraw or Move. From what I can tell, the reason this glitch works is because the game mistakenly partially overwrites your save data before bringing up the confirmation to actually save your game. This seems to overwrite your current location and party data, but not your PC data.
10:53~10:56 Erm... not quite. You see, this is related to what I said earlier. This pause here is *not* supposed to happen. This brief pause is when the mistaken partial save data overwrite occurs. After waiting a second, the *proper* save data confirmation screen appears, which is the same confirmation screen you would get when you save your game through the start menu. I actually recommend that you do *not* reset your game before this confirmation screen appears, because once it does appear, your party data has been successfully and safely overwritten while your PC data is untouched, and resetting before that point could potentially corrupt your data, something you don't even need to risk doing.

The weirdest glitch ive ever had was in saphire when I somehow took over the control of a diffrent sprite.
I have no idea how this was prepared but for some time if I had a battle, random or trainer battle, while a specific fisherman was visible I became this fisherman after the battle. I could see the playersprite idle where I left it. I experimented for a while with reloading the save but couldnt reproduce it in other games.

Except on original Gold/Silver. I would clone master balls so the legendary dogs were easier to catch.

There's one really cool glitch in Emerald that I saw in another YT video, which allows you to essentially input code into the game - yes, the game will actually think you're coding the game and this means that you can do stuff like getting unaccessible Event stuff.

In Gold/Silver, you can duplicate items held by pokemon by depositing them in the PC, changing boxes, and then turning the game off while its saving for the box change.
I did this with the virtual console version of silver to get all the starters
All starters, a few master balls and those pesky game corner TMS.
there was one cloning glitch that I encountered on Emerald which involved the walk through walls cheat. Somehow ended up cloning my Pokemon but their only moves were 'sketch'

"You can't catch any Pokemon fishing on one of these statues no matter which rod you use." Wrong. While the statues don't have any Pokemon data, the old rod bypasses Pokemon encounter data anyway because it can only find Magikarps, so using an old rod you can actually encounter Magikarps in the statues.

I didn't know of the cloning glitch in Emerald! That would have helped a lot as a kid... But I did know about the gen 2 cloning glitch and that one did help a lot! =D

I like the one in Gen 1 where you have to have a Bulbasaur of a specific level with a specific moveset and a specific set of stats (or something along those lines) to activate it. I think it was a walk through walls glitch? The reason it stood out to me was how convoluted it was. How the heck did anyone ever figure that out?

The emerald cloning glitch works with the whole box if i recall correctly not just the maximum of 5 with your method
Back in the day I tried cloning my cousin's Hitmonchan but accidentally deleted it and cloned my Pidgey...
You can actually clonr boxes full of Pokemon using the battle tower in emerald. Just move them somewhere else rather than withdrawing. Also you don't have to withdraw.

the box doesn’t have to be empty, and you don’t need to use the withdraw option, move works. and technically you don’t reset “while it’s saving” you agree to save and then reset your game when the save menu appears.

If I'm not mistaken there is a glitch in Pokémon ruby and sapphire where a trainer will straight up walk up a ledge if they see you to battle you

damn that emerald clone glitch would've been handy to know before i transfered my nearly 20yr old pokemon to newer games, would've been nice to still play emerald with my old pokemon while having a copy of them in the newer games :(
does the box have to be completely empty and only 1 pokemon at a time instead of say a max of 5?
In Pokémon Green, Blue, Red, and Yellow to catch Mew takes a little work. First battle your way past the Nugget Bridge. Battle more trainers but avoid the kid with the Slowpokes. Now make your way through the game like normally. Eventually you'll go through Rock Tunnel and make it through Lavender Town on your way to Celdon City. Now get HM 2 Fly. Stock up on Great Balls and add a Pokémon that knows Hypnosis also get a low level Pokémon as well. Now make your way back out through the underground entrance that you went through earlier to get to Celdon City. Once you exit the underground save your game. Now move forward and quickly bring up the menu and fly back to Cerulean City. From there the Gambler will stop you with a question mark of battle but your flying away. Now the game thinks your in battle so make back towards the kid with Slowpoke let him spot you. Beat him then fly back to Lavender Town and go the way towards Celdon City. Once your about to leave your pop up menu will mysterious appear exit and a wild Pokémon will appear and its Mew. This works in all versions even the virtual console as well

When you beat the game with Gen 1 with a glitch can you then go anywhere? Cause that would be awesome to have the whole game open from the start. I mean you would still to work through badges and such to get your HM moves but it would be really fun.
Honestly while on this have the whole game open to you from the get go I wish you could get all pokemon from the start at a low level cause what do you do with a L70 mewtwo when you are already the champion??? Would be way more fun to have one at 7 that you just had to do some crazy hard task to get and use your favorite pokemon in your first gym battles and such.

Updates to the modern games means the end of Pokemon glitches. By the time you learn about them, they would have been patched.

M' and Missigno are not the same (extra fact, unlike what most people think, Missigno isn't dangerous, M' on the other hand, is)
On the skipping Brock glitch you HAVE to walk on the tile the NPC was in, otherwise you'll be taken back to the gym
I could be wrong but I'm sure you can catch mons in the Cerulean City gym. Only in that one tho

I play gen 6 for 2000+ hours and honestly never about the toxic glitch.
