That mixer is a second generation which was a mod of the original CMA-10-2 and CMA-10-2DL. I designed that mixer in the early 1970s. I was Rudy Bozak's chief engineer when we began our electronics line which included power amps and home Hi-Fi. Some of the input circuitry was the technology of our partners at CM Labs, makers of high-end home entertainment electronics. Our design originally had brushed aluminum panels with black nomenclature. We had many requests to make a reverse of that with the white on black. Your model was made and modified by the company's new owners after Rudy sold the company in 1977, although the basic circuitry remained the same and the sound quality did not change. When Bozak owned the company, we never made one without balance controls or without a power switch. We were quite proud of our mixer product line with brisk sales to DJ's, recording studios in playback systems and broadcasters for production editing. Oddly, many ended up in schools and churches. I really enjoyed your video, both in content and presentation. It brought back a lot of great memories from (as they say) The Golden Age of audio. Thank you. Bob

Thank you for the comment Bob - very insightful. It’s exactly these types of stories and culture this classic mixer line carries which to me makes it a very special piece of equipment to own. Beyond the sound quality, the history and community is unique :-)

Great review! I own a CMA 10 2-DLC that Buzzy Beck restored. I love the historical significance of Buzzy bringing my mixer back to life. Knowing he was there then and still pouring his heart and soul into them one rebuild at a time means the world to me. And of course the sound is amazing!

I used that mixer in palladium in mid 80s ..had the 3 1200s plus a reel to real and ultimately and mpc60 all.playing thru the bozak..I hated dials but richard long only used urie or bozak .he switched to about 1988 . Then I put my mp 24 into the urie ..pissed richard off

This review, in addition to saying 100 times fantastic, would be better if you made a direct comparison with other mixers and you will hear that it is not fantastic, there are better mixers.

That's not a real 1980's Bozak mixer, the company never made a mixer with a booth, never made a mixer with 3 aux, and that faceplate is too new to be over 30 years old.. Look at an original DLA from the company and you will see all the differences.. Now there's nothing wrong with all the changes but don't let people tell you that this is an original factory made 1980's DLA because its not, its all after market made after the company closed and Mr. Beck tells people he worked at the company when he did not its just a selling trick that he uses to sell all the newly made stuff he produces and by saying its all NOS he tries to get away from legal problems with the new owners of Bozak for making new stuff such as the faceplates with someone else's logo..
