    Hi Josh
    Have a Defy 600 Slimline hob.
    Replaced all four solid plates due to rust and cracks.
    Connected wires exactly as old plates.
    Any reason why plates do not reach maximum temperatures?
    Each plate has four connectors, but two are used.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi there, I have an Atag electric cooktop with 4 hobs. One 18 cm hob has an outer ring which is curled up somehow, the hop itself works fine. Is there a serious fault that I should be concerned of, since there's about 2-3 mm gap between the ring and the surface of the stove? What should I take into account to buy the spare/replacement (from other brand if possible) since this cooktop is out of production? Thank you in advance.

      @eSpares  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      smurfiennes blue It sounds like the element has distorted and this may cause it to fail shortly. If you cannot find the correct hot plate fill in the information at: www.espares.co.uk/contact/sales
      We will try and match a suitable replacement if we haven't got the original part in stock.

      Hi Vijets, have you lost all power or do some of the rings work? you need to test the circuit using a multimeter to determine which part of the circuit has failed.

    Hi I have a belling fsec50fdos my ceramic plates turn on and off very frequently whereas they didn't used to do that is this broken or is it meant to do that?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sam, the hotplates should regulate each time they reach the setting you have selected, there may be an issue with the temperature regulator which is usually a simmerstat but you would need to test it with a multimeter to determine if it has failed.

  • @Weedug
    @Weedug 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    could you recommend a multi-meter for these checks.

    Hey guys I have a new world white electric cooker similar to the white one you have in this video and 2 of the hobs on 1 side are heating up but not enough you could literally put your hand over them and it wouldn’t burn it does this sound like an element fault

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Aidy, if it has solid hotplates then it can only be either the regulator or the ring itself, the video shows testing the element so try that first before suspecting the regulator.

      Hi Hugh, leave the hob off and allow enough time for the components to dry out, I would normally suggest you test the appliance with a meggar before switching back on. you can take it apart but try this first.

    I need to replace an element. Mine has a little stainless trim ring around the element. When I take out the old element it looks like there was some sort of insulating gasket that went between the element and the cooktop. Parts suppliers tell me there was s not anything like a gasket on the new element and do not show one in their catalogs. Can you help me figure this out? Thanks, Tom

    I have a Miele KM 544 induction hob. Whenever I attempt to use two hobs
    at the same time, they both are turned off and the letters F and E (
    on the the temperature hob) and the number 10 (on the timer panel)
    appear and I cannot use the appliance after that

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If both hobs work individually but come up with this error when used together there may be a loose power cable. This could cause the power to dip and the appliance would go to the error mode. Check the terminals where the power cable connects to the hob and to the wall connector.

      It is likely the element itself has failed, to check and replace see another video on a similar cooker:

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lakshmi P N, this is unusual but can be a number of things, the switches can be in series and there may be a wiring fault, the switch is faulty or the board is faulty.

    I have a ceramic hob . , a bulb blew on the hood . But since then I keep getting the letter L on all rings then it knocks off within 15 to 20 seconds . Please help

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kenneth, the bulb blowing should not have affected the hob unless it took out the trip which may have caused a problem with the electronics in the hob, you don't mention the model details so trying turning the hob completely off to reset the electronics.

    hi electric hob pot boiled over now one of the rings not working whats the solution thanks

    • @garrygemmell5676
      @garrygemmell5676 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Replace the hob ring -hobs develop minute cracks - when water or condensation gets in it shorts to earth causing your rcd to trip but it sounds like your ring is a goner!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your hob is a ceramic hob there is a cut out across the ring that is likely to have blown. Unfortunately this will usually require a new ring. For more information on replacing a ceramic ring see another of our videos:
      th-cam.com/video/mr0yQFKSmh4/w-d-xo.html

    • @garrygemmell5676
      @garrygemmell5676 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      All depends on which type of ring - i recently found to my cost that its not a good idea to leave a pot on the solid hob type filled with defrosting chicken - the condensation running down the sides of the metal pot must have entered micro cracks in the solid hob and now it trips my rcd every time the one hob is switched on - should really have wired the hobs intovthe non-rcd side of the consumer unit but it was installed when i arrived!

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Current regulations for UK wiring require cookers to be connected to an RCD on a Dual RCD board so it sounds like it is correctly installed.
