Stjepan Cindrich no, it's not. american football is basically only played competitively in america. rugby is played throughout Europe, the southern hemisphere and asia
I'm aware that it's popular around the world (draws audiences comparable to Am. Football.) But I really want to see it as popular as American Football here in the states.
Last year on my school team there was an A team and a B team, as you can guess A team is good and B team is a bunch of sissies, i was in the middle, I played half the games on B team and half on A team, it was so frustrating because I wanted to be better, I watched this video every game day of the season, once the season ended I dedicated myself to the gym, now one year later, we just had our first game, because of my efforts and time, i'm 20 pounds heavier and 2 inches taller, I'm now the starting outside centre for our team and because our frst game i made 2 HUGE hits and scored 2 tries, my very first try ever, and 2 of them onthe first game of the season. I still watch this video every game day. Hard work pays off
+thekamron1234 Totally dude, I'm doing the same thing, freshmen year I made it into varsity but I was shit compared to the others, same happened sophomore because I thought I'd get better If I just told myself to and watch a bunch of videos like this. So this year, junior year I've been training hard with weights and doing conditioning with my wrestling team. The more you train, the more you go through pain than all the other players on the field you can see the difference. I'm a loose forward but this year I wanna be the eight man
+Lincoln X hey you weren't lying new zealand has one crazy rugby community, but thanks alot, I finished the season with 11 tries in total and I can't wait for next season, I'm all about rugby now where before I was all about american football
I luv watching these vids cuz I play rugby for under 12s and I've played a entire match without realising I broke my left hand lol it was after the adrenaline ran out after the match
Rugby isn't easier than American Football lol. Sure, you will likely specialise in a specific position on the field, but you have to attack and defend and you don't get to stop and catch your breath every time a tackle is made. American Football is definitely athletic in a different way - it's like a 100m sprint vs. a 10km marathon.
CptXXXEvilXXXFluff A big hit is usually defined by the force or power of the impact. Benson's big "hits" (actually tackles) wouldn't be big if he didn't have the force and power to go along with it. A lot of Rugby players tackle in the mid section of the ballcarrier. If the player had the ball at his mid section, it could create a turnover. If he held the ball up higher, then the tackle would be clean and unguarded which may make it look like it was a "big hit".
As an American, I deeply wish rugby was broadcast in the USA. I would gladly give up soccer(yes SOCCER it's a *British* term) and football for rugby on TV. (8:07) I don't know the rules but that was fucking awesome.
Asher Jack Its action packed, highly athletic and stategic, brutal, padless, and the rules are a huge mystery to me, which I think might make it more entertaining. I never know whats going to happen next.
As an American who is used to watching football hits, this doesn’t seem anywhere near as violent. But I will say I’m out of breath just watching these guys run so much.
A sport that deserves true respect. Back in high school, i used to play football and thought rugby was basically the same. Wrong. Rugby is fuckin rough. You have to have stamina, be smart about your positioning and be able to take hits. I only played one year of rugby.
+Drew Grey i played both. Football was scarier for me. I cant deal with someone going headfirst into me and the only thing i could do is put my head down too
why is their so much hating in the comments this is a video about rugby "for men played by men" c'mon guys if you don't like it then don't watch it, Jesus
Cool video, but you can see that its someone who loves the Aussies who made it... Australia is very good at making hard and dangerous hits, its just sad that they arent that great at winning games :-) Bokke FTW!!!!
Bryan Habana is such a good player and you only showed like one run and the rest of the clips he was in it was just him getting dominated but anyway great vid man enjoyed it!
They always slide when they score a point even when they're in the clear - is it just a celebratory thing (like spiking the ball in American football) or are they required to slide in order to score the point?
David Williams, they slide mainly because you are taught to slide when you train, helps to lower your centre of gravity and make it passed the goal line if they're are defenders, it also helps to make sure they don't drop the ball although some people don't do it.
For me it's just unreal how they can take these hits and only seconds later stand up and go again for it.... I would lay on the ground for days after such hits!
I'm American and this is my first time actually paying attention to Rugby. You fuckin need some balls to play this lol, and this is a hell of a lot more fun to watch then the slow ass dudes in American Football. Juking appears to be much more viable in Rugby than in American Football, part of that could be because of the protection they wear. In Rugby, I can see it makes sense to juke more often since getting hit can be a little more dangerous.
This sport needs to be as famous as American Football. This is something that I would totally get into. May watch it regardless.
this sport is actually bigger than american football
^^ not really, american football is way more popular.
Stjepan Cindrich no, it's not. american football is basically only played competitively in america. rugby is played throughout Europe, the southern hemisphere and asia
I'm aware that it's popular around the world (draws audiences comparable to Am. Football.) But I really want to see it as popular as American Football here in the states.
oh you mean in the states my bad. you should watch super rugby competition. it starts on the 13th February
Last year on my school team there was an A team and a B team, as you can guess A team is good and B team is a bunch of sissies, i was in the middle, I played half the games on B team and half on A team, it was so frustrating because I wanted to be better, I watched this video every game day of the season, once the season ended I dedicated myself to the gym, now one year later, we just had our first game, because of my efforts and time, i'm 20 pounds heavier and 2 inches taller, I'm now the starting outside centre for our team and because our frst game i made 2 HUGE hits and scored 2 tries, my very first try ever, and 2 of them onthe first game of the season. thekamron1234 Come play in NZ. You'd all be considered sissies haha
+thekamron1234 Totally dude, I'm doing the same thing, freshmen year I made it into varsity but I was shit compared to the others, same happened sophomore because I thought I'd get better If I just told myself to and watch a bunch of videos like this. The more you train, the more you go through pain than all the other players on the field you can see the difference. I'm a loose forward but this year I wanna be the eight man
+Lincoln X yeah that's true but I'm still proud of myself
thekamron1234 Ignore that previous comment man, keep chasing the dream.
+Lincoln X hey you weren't lying new zealand has one crazy rugby community, but thanks alot, I finished the season with 11 tries in total and I can't wait for next season, I'm all about rugby now where before I was all about american football

This is a mixture of rugby league and rugby union........when played well both are equally thrilling.
Tuivasa sheck, Johnson & Milford!!! can step!! cool vid
Big Hit = Technique + Bravery
Big Hit = Bravery + Extreme Collision
Doesn't matter if there was a technique involved or not.
Hollenthon2468 not true
Louuis Santos How is that not true?
Hollenthon2468 Benson Stanley, his technique is superb and he makes huge hits.
CptXXXEvilXXXFluff A big hit is usually defined by the force or power of the impact. Benson's big "hits" (actually tackles) wouldn't be big if he didn't have the force and power to go along with it. Great video!! The song...well to each his own I guess.
This is the shit that I live for
Not a fan of music with the videos but I like the video. Plays like this, to me, make this the best
game on the planet.
Good ol Rene Ranger, never fails to make the highlights reel.
Damn, some absolutely phenomenal plays!
I’m new to rugby any advice on which league or team to follow?
Jordan Williams could be one hell of a player
This just shows how you can either get through with pure agility or pure strngth
Great music man!
Great video realy good job! :)
As an American, I deeply wish rugby was broadcast in the USA. I would gladly give up soccer(yes SOCCER it's a *British* term) and football for rugby on TV.
(8:07) I don't know the rules but that was fucking awesome.
+Harry Balzak hahahah Americans when they see rugby they love it don't they hahaha one day ma bro
+Harry Balzak Im happy America started rugby but they suck. All blacks almost scored or if not 100 points on them. It was like playing against a baby
Asher Jack
Its action packed, highly athletic and stategic, brutal, padless, and the rules are a huge mystery to me, which I think might make it more entertaining. I never know whats going to happen next.
Olikong McManus America didn't make rugby

Sick video dude!
As an American who is used to watching football hits, this doesn’t seem anywhere near as violent. But I will say I’m out of breath just watching these guys run so much.
Weepu handing off Aaron Smith then getting smashed by Nonu at the end is the best bit

Rugby just rocks, only played it for a couple of years at school, biggest regret, not pursuing it further
With you 100% man. haven't played in 3 years. hard to even find someone to talk to about it here in the US let alone find enough to play
A sport that deserves true respect. Back in high school, i used to play football and thought rugby was basically the same. Wrong. Rugby is fuckin rough. You have to have stamina, be smart about your positioning and be able to take hits. I only played one year of rugby.
+Drew Grey That sucks man only one year...
Olikong McManus couldnt hack it man. I pussed out.
+Drew Grey Well, at least your honest. I probably wouldn't play NFL from what little I've seen, the hits just look dangerous.
+Drew Grey i played both. Football was scarier for me. I cant deal with someone going headfirst into me and the only thing i could do is put my head down too

I got question i dont play rugby or watch it but why do they dive at the end always. Is it a rule to touch the ball on the floor when you score.
Anthony Mata they dive as a celebration but if you don't touch it in the try area it doesn't count or if they drop it it doesn't count
