To viewers from across the world: Not all Filipinos are comfortable with eating monkeys, bats, and insects. In fact, I'd say that 99% of Filipinos don't eat those. However, I do respect my fellow Filipinos in the provinces who eat those as part of their culture and tradition. There is great diversity in cultures across the Philippines' 7,641 islands.
Do you really need to explain it like that though? lol I don't need people to tell me that not all Americans only eat Cereals for breakfast and Burgers for dinner.
I've watched almost all of your videos, and I'm going to say this is one of my favorite so far. Your documentation of "Pagpag and Monok" should be the staple of mainstream media. Focusing on the inside and out of the problem and showing the people fighting behind these struggles to live should be the mission and end goal of a documentarist. My grandest salute to you for this one!
It really breaks my heart seeing them smiling and talking happily despite their situation. I love my fellow Filipino people and I really love my country for real. This video made me realized something and learned a lot from it. I'll pray for everyone's safety. Thankyou sa mga kapwa kong Pilipino for being so matatag for fighting and surviving life.
I appreciate you for never withholding your view on foods, too much entertainment has been sterilized and has absolutely zero authenticity. Thank you for being different I hope to see more like this
In the beginning, I thought Sonny's YT Channel name was pretty bold and a bit corny. *BUT over time he's in fact truly lived up to the "Best Ever Food Review Show" claim.* *Informational, full of culinary adventure, mind-boggling (stomach churning?) extreme exotic food trials around the world --- AND --- quite entertainingly full of humor (he's the only one that does that, and genuinely). KUDOS!*
It really, really breaks my heart that a whole people have to salvage literal garbage to survive and eat. Thank you Sonny and BEFR for spotlighting that segment with such kindness and compassion. Poverty is a worldwide problem and every single life on this planet and precious. Much love to you, your family, your crew, and to everyone here that feels exactly like I do. Peace. ❤
FUCK!! That made me so queasy!! Never again will I complain, I’m Filipino American and the fact that if my mom didn’t sacrifice so much of her younger years to come here than this would’ve been me…now our Filipino family is middle class and lives peacefully. I’m so sorry for how ungrateful I was.
Sonny being very informative, and gives a context of “at your own risk”. Although I started a bit late following the channel, especially during the pandemic, his documentaries are very eye-opening, expansive and entertaining.
These videos never fail to entertain and educate me, you always are so respectful and willing to try almost anything! Keep up the amazing work, plus credits to the editors as well!
When you are pressed to survive, you will do everything to survive. I pity my countrymen. May God bless you everyday. My heart beats in tears for you. I love you all.
It's an honor to be a Filipino. Thank you so much Sonny and Chui and to the rest of your crew members of your show in which you undoubtedly showcased the other side of our heritage, culture and tradition here in the Philippines. We're so glad that you somehow learned to appreciate and embrace the uniqueness in this country. We're hoping you the best and more success on your show Sir! Keep Safe Always and God Bless you! Love from the Philippines! 😇❤️🙏🇵🇭💪🏻
From Andrew Zimmer to Joe Rogan! Like the risk and time, energy, sweat you put into this channel… it truly has lived up to its ambitious name, & you deserve every bit of your success! You’ve introduced me to several other content creators, that I’ve enjoyed immensely with your collaboration! Always fun to watch, & everyone!? Share this stuff with people!
Oh here we go! Okay despite many of us (outside of the tribes) not eating these, It is still lovely to se an insight and learn about our diverse people.
I know this is a long shot, but my boyfriend and I will be visiting his family in the Phillipines for a month in June!! We LOVE your videos and are long time watchers. We see you’re in the Phillipines and wanted to reach out to see if you needed a local guide of any sort to try some foods. Anyone from our family would be honored to show you around to some restaurants or even welcome you into our home to eat some home cooked food with us while we are there. We will be in Bacolod City specifically! This island is known to be the, “city of smiles” & also known for their chicken inasal!! 🤗 regardless if this message gets to you or not, safe travels!!
That's a lovely gesture and I hope you have a beautiful trip with your boyfriend and all the family 😊 Just to give an insight behind the scenes on a "traditional" web series show - the footage for an episode is often shot on scene weeks (or more likely months) prior and goes through a lot of post-processing and approval etc before being uploaded. Not to say that's how BEFRS puts out episodes, just that from experience, he's very likely somewhere else. Just wanted to offer that in case you don't hear back, as closure of sorts. Please have a bowl of chicken inasal for me, I'm jealous of all the delicious foods you'll be enjoying!
I can't think of anyone else that has labeled themselves as the best and actually lived up to it. This show is the best show on youtube hands down. Better than anything I can find on TV or any paid service. I used to live my dreams of food tourism through this show, but now I'm living abroad, and I've been to a few places you've been and tried things I watch you try on this show. I'd like to think that you inspired me a bit to leave my comfort zone and be more spontaneous in life. I've left my country, I'm now married, and have been to more countries and tried more foods than I thought I ever would in my entire life.
I love being able to explore the world with Sonny! He dos his best to show "his" experience when traveling. I can't safely travel to a lot of places, but it's nice to have a snapshot of how complicated and beautiful our world can be.
Beautiful, respectful coverage of a controversial emotive subject. What a beautiful country and people. Resilience is at the heart of those who live in the most deprived areas. Amazinly beautiful people is what i see.
Something is happening with this video I didn't get notified of it that is why I'm thinking it has no views as nobody was notified I will definitely be watching liking and sharing now ❤❤
I'm from the Cordilleras and I learned about pagpag during my elementary days. I thought that this practice was banned or stopped years ago. It was shocking for me to see your video documenting this food. And as a Cordilleran we eat exotic foods but in our culture eating food from literal trash is a big no. However, this documentation is really important in spreading awareness regarding the current situation of Manila.
Hey Sonny? You may not see this, but I wanna thank you. Lemme explain. Before I saw your show, I was, and still am as I'm just starting this little personal journey, a picky eater. If something smelled off or looked off, I turned my nose up...or if I just THOUGHT I wouldn't like it....But... Today, I went to the Chinese Buffet down near me, United Buffet (New Yorker!) And when I got sushi for the first time in a while...I didn't take out the stuff I didn't like, and I even got some I had never had before! You've got it in my minds eye to try things, even if I think I wont like them, don't like the smell, or the texture. And if I Do dislike it, who cares? I *tried*, and that's what matters. It's thanks to you and like...1% thanks to a little show called Delicious in Dungeon...that I'm stepping out of my comfort zone and into the world! I can't leave America, with my mental disabilities and my phobia's of leaving home, I'd never survive it, but with these documentaries I can go there without having to leave home! Thank you so much, Sonny...If you ever come to NY again, and ever go to the United Buffet in Schenectady to try it, I hope I bump into you! I may just bake ya somethin' if I do! (Pies? Specialty~) Today I learned: Avocado isn't my thing on its own, it's mushy and has too much of an earthy flavor....but in sushi it's not bad! If it's okay, now and then I'll share my journey with you in your comments when I try new things! I'll enjoy the video now! Thanks!
Wow 🎉thanks Sony for these awesome 😎 videos personally it has really helped me in appreciating the culture and food of different communities in the world 🌍 #thankssonny❤
I think your the only foreign vlogger who can features this than any famous vloggers in Philippines, they might scared thats why hehehe.. But there are feauturing this kind in National TV. Keep it up! We like this kind of videos very raw!
Man sat down with an absolute legend and shared a meal... then got the honor of her OFFERING to tattoo him. Maybe I'm weird but that made me emotional.
God, thank you for my supermarket supplies and all the regular food you provide. Sustain people worldwide as only you can. Thank you for this channel, it's so truly eye-opening. Watching from Zambia 🇿🇲

Complaining and feeling bad for yourself for the struggles of other human beings. How about doing something about it in your community.

Yep I saw the same thing😅
Yeah that was actually the most shocking point😅
This show is truly remarkable. I admire how it focuses on people appreciating food for what it is, rather than just its origins.
Loved it Sunny
