This is why so many kids are failures today. They were never given the opportunity to visualize and imagine the possibilities available to them. A.C. Gilbert was a great man who only thought of enriching the lived of others. What do we teach our children? To get a job? To make money? For what? Teach your kids that they can be anything they dream of. Follow the example of Mr. A.C. Gilbert whose inventions inspired so many people to become scientists businessmen and leaders

I don't think they have anything today to teach the kids like that. The electronics has ruined the kids. Today's kids graduating don't want to work.

Things were just so much more pure, and authentic back then. The toys themselves, would educate, and inspire. Things were REAL. Not so disposable like todays stuff.

I had a Gilbert microscope as a kid. I loved to put slides of pond water and see the microscopic creatures moving. It was quite awesome sight.

My mother saw hers…she told me it said “Hello, boys.” She mentioned to her father and he said “That’s OK.” She loved it so much. Thanks for the video.

I inherited a Gilbert Erector set that belonged to my father. I suspect it dates back to the late 1940s. It has an electric motor with a "sliding gear" transmission that still works.

They need to bring this stuff back to our kids. Computer's and the technology today is wrong. Our children. Don't know how to do anything because when they're babies you're getting on the phone. This stuff teaches kids and they might want to grow up to be somebody someday that the world needs

Love this ad and the products, but one silly bit was when the narrator claimed that Galileo hadn't thought of making his telescopes show upright images. Actually, Galileo probably didn't think of it, and that's because all of his telescopes did show upright images! A few years later, astronomical telescopes began inverting the image because this allowed for wider apparent fields of view, but Galileo made all of his important discoveries with telescopes that showed upright images. Looks like someone didn't study history.

I think they should reissue some of the sets so our youth can learn how to cook meth more efficiently and safely.
And I did have an erector set that came with parachutes.

@@andyokus5735 from my understanding this company has released a glass blowers kit and a radiation testing kit. Those are obviously dangerous, but the stuff in this video look safe and really fun to me.
