Had one of these lorikeets in the past, unfortunately passed last year and ever since I've been wanting to see the bunches of them in Australia. Most talkative and playful bird I've ever had

Rainbow Lorikeets are SO loud when they get together in trees in Australia! But they are beautiful birds.

Around my area, driving by some of the decorative trees on the sides of the roads around dusk can be rather noisy as the lorikeets will be in the trees, but still loud and chattery.

Mimi Sardinia Ha, yeah, especially right before dark. They are LOUD!

I used to work an evening shift at one of the supermarkets a few years ago. It meant a lot of the time I was going over right at dusk, so the lorikeets were in all the trees at the time.

I live in inner suburban melbourne and have a tree at the end of my street that hundreds of them roost in. I love the chatter they make as they get ready for bed lol. I recently rescued one while I was walking my dog that was getting attacked by a crow and as I carried it home the whole flock followed me to my front gate and squawked loudly at the door! The next day I took it to a wildlife rescue Center and a couple of weeks later they let it go back where I found it 👍

Wow! So much Rainbow Lorikeets! I find that when you're kind to these precious Lorikeets like giving them good food as well as talking to them, that they actually become not so wild but they understand your kindness to them. The more I talk to our backyard Lorikeets and feeding apple, watermelon, slivered vegetables like bok choy, plus the bird seeds and fresh water too, the birds get to know you and they call more birds with them and everyone of them is really happy too! Thank you for sharing your wonderful video Series with us. God bless you all too and your family! 😊💕💕

I have them in my backyard, they love my pear tree! It is such a big difference for me who comes from Montreal Canada. We actually shaped our backyard to attract Lorikeet.

@polytelismedia I wish I could but Australia is 10,000 miles from Toronto. What an amazing country with fabulous birds and wildlife! Nikki was bred here in Toronto. I am so happy I bought her. I am almost 60 yrs. old now and a birder all of my life practically! Your video is beautiful and so is your country!

I am so glad you enjoyed the footage on the Rainbows! It's one of my favorite sections in the entire DVD series.
I had to chuckle as I read how your Lory started talking to the Lorikeets in the video clip. Great stuff! Thanks for your comment! - Don

My little one (conure) is totally in love with this video. So if you get random messages or dislikes it’s because he’s chewing on the phone!! Lol thank you! Moving up that way in the next few months so will have to visit Currumbin for sure :)

@polytelismedia I guess it is the social nature of the bird, since I have only got one of the loris inside, him hearing the other birds even if it is via youtube keep him happy as he interacts with us and our cockatiel

rescued one (I figured just took first flight or, likely kicked out of it nest - in the big city (NSW CBD/20** residential p/c). I've been blessed with him/her, called "lucky"
+9 months & feed is Lottie Dry/wet nectar x 2 daily I feed literally by hand, open the cage door, using a soup spoon feed lucky: named lucky as he/she was Lucky I found him/her - lucky won't survive if feed.

You forgot to mention that Rainbows aren't native to the south east coast, they have established colonies via 'freed' pets. They are gorgeous, stunning but ruining the south east range.

Tragically, these birds are sold, to be kept as pets,. without the social, free, enriched lives they need. I wish people couldn't buy birds. The life of a pet bird is so sad. There is no way to compensate them for the existence for which they have evolved.

this video cannot begin to convey just how loud and annoying a large flock of these birds can be.. particularly in the tree outside my window at 7 in the morning.
    still beautiful though.
