@jon4lakers I prefer the one camera angle honestly because its nice when we see you looking directly in the camera. Also do you think BB10 will be on all major US carriers?
Like the second camera Johny, but purhaps have it a little further away, equal distance as camera 1? Also, are there any spec detail leeks on the flagship device(s)
One thing. Do you know how the internet connection is? I have a BB Torch 9800 which I have to pay the service provider monthly fee to connect to the internet and use this phone 100%. But iOS and Android OS is always open to connect by 3G and data service. I always have to find a free Wi-Fi zone to be updated. Anyway, I'm wondering the internet connection on BB10. Anyone? can tell me how it is? And is this already to buy? when is the opening and where?
Have you heard about any kind of Maps or Navigation app that will competitively compare to Apples Maps and the dominating Android Maps and Navigation for BlackBerry 10? Do you know if the BlackBerry Playbook will have the capability to have a Maps and Navigation app of the BlackBerry Playbook when it's updated to BlackBerry 10 that's even if it gets updated.
I honestly feel that swipe to text is the new way to go. I used correctional typing on both physical and touchscreen keyboards and truly feel that I can type the fastest with swiping
you gotta remember, os' prior to bb10 are under totally different coding. QNX is behind this OS and I'm sure they will be able to purge memory from a restart menu or something similar to what you see on Android and iOS
shoulda thought out that 2nd camera thing. yo, buffalo can you tell us anything about the touch face screen on bb10? and what about the camera? and you briefly mentioned the speed on the old bb im assuming this one is much quicker. hopefully, you'll do BB10 vs samsung galaxy, iphone, etc. Thank you!
I remember when I was caught up in the whole "processor" theory. When I left android and went to an iPhone, I realized how optimization is really important. I have a S3 now and love it. I just wish there was a Tad bit more optimization for some extra smoothness and better battery. I know BB was the king with battery life, and this OS looks very optimized and smooth , even on test hardware.
I also think the virtual keyboard looks awesome. The "bold" phone looks really good but I wonder how big the screen is. If the phone was note 2 sized would be great.
I think you should stick to one camera. The feature I'm most excited about is the camera, being able to go back in time in order to get the best face for the picture
hey Jon! (i badly want to type your name with an "h"), im a long time watcher and live in the same wonderful city you do, for a while now I've always wondered, what is the video at the end screen in which you throw a phone (the clips at the end)?
Hi again. I want to clarify what I meant. The second camera is not bad, but switching to the first and going back and forth causes distraction to the viewers. Thats what I wanted to say. Hope this helps!
Awesome to see how excited jon is about BB10. He never seemed like a BB fanboy which really shows how great RIM is doing. The media's mind has completely changed in regards to RIM, this is very exciting :)
I think its better if you use cut scenes of the product then maybe use the second camera as a sort of topic setter so people can easily tell when u have changed subject
I didn't mind the dual cameras. I think it has potential, but the timing of the view switching was what made it weird to me. Take reference from multi-camera newsrooms, etc. Switch to whatever camera the person's facing, and own it. No showing side profiles, etc. It disconnects the viewer.
I like the 2 cameras. just a clarification on the live titles. these are running active apps not short-cuts. they make use of the multitasking power of QNX. you were right about them receiving real time updates but it's not just for first party apps. it's up to the developer what they want to be displayed in the window. but if the developer did not program it for anything specific it just defaults to the logos.
I would definitely love to see more on BB10, but the second camera angle isn't so great. I could be...maybe a different angle than what was tried here?
Im just hoping for a larger device in the future. Im using a S3 now, and I love the size of it. 4.8 in is a nice screen size. Make a larger device next year or this year please.
A lot of people I've talked to don't even want to go back to a physical keyboard, too many years in an iOS/Android life. I'm planning on buying the X10 when it comes out
@jon4lakers, I think I would agree with Kristen Wybo. It's not so much the use of the two cameras, but rather the way they're implemented on the final video. I personally do prefer you looking at the camera, so when the camera angles changed and you followed the new angle, that seemed to work out well. But it's great to see your team implementing new ideas and techniques to your videos!
They you switch shoots doesn't really work. But I will say that I really like the angle of the second camera. Maybe you could work something out were you introduce the segment in the first camera and then talk into the other.
Hi John, I'm sure a lot of people complained about the 2nd camera, but I also want to add to their criticisms. I think showing 2 cameras really distract the viewer from the topic and focuses on your face. If you were showing this video to show your face, then doing this is fine but people hear want to hear about content. as soon as you change to the 2nd camera, I begin to lose focus from the content and start focusing on your face. Sorry for long post but hopefully this helped you :)
Most good apps are available on all platforms. For popular ones that are not a good alternative is always around the corner. Blackberry 10 looks good but other handsets will likely adopt their best unique features fairly quickly. At the moment I will upgrade to one of these when my current contract runs out.
For me: 5. Blackberry Hub. 4. Blackberry's keyboard. I can live with or without a keyboard on my smartphone. 3. The user-interface. 2. Active Frames. Hoping it'll expand to more apps. 1. Swipe gestures. I love not having to press "Home" or "End" buttons. P.S.: You need to figure out how to creatively utilize those two video cameras. :D Cheers!
I like the second camera idea, but I think that It should it should just be a tighter shot from the same angle. That way you are still connecting with the audience, but you can hide those jump cuts. Making your cuts seem intentional; not a cover up.
I think the 2 camera view can be slightly improved by having your head transition to the other one, rather than seeing your other side of the head. If you look at video by "The Verge" you will know what i mean.
Don't do the two camera thing. It doesn't look good in this setting, Jon. I found myself focusing on the camera and honestly couldn't tell you more than 2 features you talked about in this video.
If you are going to use two camera angles I would suggest that the host be looking straight at the camera in each clip shown. It looks much more professional that way.
Hey Jon, I wanted to get the HTC Butterfly but Sony's Xperia ZL has a much better camera but now there's a rumor going on that HTC is going to bring out a new phone HTC M7 which has a much a better processor and camera plus, it has Beats Audio which I like. I would really appreciate if you could help me decide which phone I would like. P.S. I am a heavy phone user.
Hardware keyboards on phones are nice to use but it also means having to sacrifice most of the screen. I use my phone for a lot of media consumption so love the fact the keyboard doesn't get in the way.
I like the second camera, it lets me feel like I'm part of a group and that he's talking to "us" rather than to the camera. Seeing a different part of his face is refreshing. It can seem a little dark lighting sometimes, but it's an office, so whatever. ~ please do a "What would Jon like to see from WP8.5/9, phones, features, specs, anything! Thanks!
Great and funny video. Don't really like all the camera angles tho. Like sometimes when the camera switch, you're still looking at the other camera! So, why make it switch when you're not even looking at it?
The two angles is awkward when Jon isn't looking directly at the camera. When he turns to look at the other camera and the angle switches too, it's fine but it's awkward when the angle changes and the camera he's looking at doesn't.
Maybe if you look at the camera at key moments and give a rant or express something or tell a joke, the 2nd camera might work, but if is there like just another angle... It doesn't works
Thanks for the suggestion!
I appreciate the feedback!
That's a good idea. This was out 1st one. Mostly I'm just playing with the options.
Thank you!
I was messing around seeing if I could destroy an old Palm Pre that didn't work anymore!
I'm definitely going to try!
Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu for the 1st rate feedback.
Will you be able to have 2 separate phone numbers on it? (one for work and one for personal)
Is BBB specific to personal/business? Or can you split it between 2 of your own stuffs?
i love the new technobuffalo website. Keep up the good work. The blackberry hub is the top feature of any phone not just blackberry 10.
will bb10 be able to play movies currently available on iphone and android platforms?
You have a great unique ability to maintain our attention using just one camera. Not many youtubers can say that.
@jon4lakers I prefer the one camera angle honestly because its nice when we see you looking directly in the camera. Also do you think BB10 will be on all major US carriers?
the two camera angles is very fresh and I don't see a lot of youtubers using this
Your videos are my only daily digest for the Tech World updates .... keep it up!!!
Thanks for the vid jon! Love the blackberry 10!! I also hope RIM can pull it off. Do you know what carriers it will be on??
I think the second camera is a nice addition, but I think you should transition back and forth when you change up topics.
you can also sideload android apps to work on the blackberry phone, I've done this with trip advisor and netflix and I have had no lagging issues.
Will the blackberry bold 9000 be able to update to blackberry 10 ?
Like the second camera Johny, but purhaps have it a little further away, equal distance as camera 1?
Also, are there any spec detail leeks on the flagship device(s)

I can't ait to get some more hands on!

Love the dual camera, helps with the immersive value of the video. Think you can do a video on the Xperia Z?
My Top Five Is 1- all new blackberry 2- front facing camera 3- new bbm 4- social apps 5- new apps , thnx man :)
shoulda thought out that 2nd camera thing. yo, buffalo can you tell us anything about the touch face screen on bb10? and what about the camera? and you briefly mentioned the speed on the old bb im assuming this one is much quicker. hopefully, you'll do BB10 vs samsung galaxy, iphone, etc. Thank you!
i just want to use the phone ..im not sure if blackberry is for me im more of an android guy...are they coming to Verizon??
I remember when I was caught up in the whole "processor" theory. When I left android and went to an iPhone, I realized how optimization is really important. I have a S3 now and love it. top five was great. number two really impressed me. thanks for the coverage of RIM !
I will try! - Jon
WHAT EDITING SOFTWARE DO U USE
I also think the virtual keyboard looks awesome. The "bold" phone looks really good but I wonder how big the screen is. If the phone was note 2 sized would be great.
Yup turning will make it good.
What i think they should do is: switch to second camera, and about 2 seconds later jon turns(whole body) to the camera
Is it going to be touch & type phone just like Nokia E6?
can you find out which carriers will have bb10.
I think you should stick to one camera. The feature I'm most excited about is the camera, being able to go back in time in order to get the best face for the picture
are they going to have a 'ONE BUTTON BATTERY PULL' for when it freezes? ... the ALT+CAPS+DEL its gettin kinda old

It will be enabled with 4G LTE, and the official announcement of the BlackBerry 10 Series phones will be on January 30th, 2013.
I think its better if you use cut scenes of the product then maybe use the second camera as a sort of topic setter so people can easily tell when u have changed subject

so true. but if they edit that in more tactfully then it can be nice as long as he stays focusing on only the regular front camera.
Im just hoping for a larger device in the future. Im using a S3 now, and I love the size of it. 4.8 in is a nice screen size. Make a larger device next year or this year please.
Cool with 2 cams. =) Great cover of the CES aswell. Keep Up the good work=)

CANT WAIT TO BE HONEST THE KEYBOARD PHONE LOOKS AWESOME AS HELL

@John try sail fish...ur gonna love their way of multitasking and active frames!
For me:
5. Blackberry Hub.
4. Blackberry's keyboard. I can live with or without a keyboard on my smartphone.
3. The user-interface.
2. Active Frames. Hoping it'll expand to more apps.

Having the second camera is like watching our local news when they screw up and are talking without looking at the other camera! lol
The new camera angles look much more professional in my opinion. But maybe they could use some tweaking a bit. But I do think you should keep it.
I wouldn't say lose the second camera but put it in a more ideal location. If done properly it will look very good.
I like the second camera idea, but I think that It should it should just be a tighter shot from the same angle. That way you are still connecting with the audience, but you can hide those jump cuts. Making your cuts seem intentional; not a cover up.
Any new features on any device is a good feature, it means your favorite OS has to compete, which means more great features for everyone.
Same here!
I think the 2 camera view can be slightly improved by having your head transition to the other one, rather than seeing your other side of the head. If you look at video by "The Verge" you will know what i mean.

is the internet supporting flash on B.B 10?
Hey Jon, I wanted to get the HTC Butterfly but Sony's Xperia ZL has a much better camera but now there's a rumor going on that HTC is going to bring out a new phone HTC M7 which has a much a better processor and camera plus, it has Beats Audio which I like. I would really appreciate if you could help me decide which phone I would like.

Spice it up a bit!
I think is good and funny you are using second camera, keep making great videos like that!
Not a huge fan of the second camera, I just find it a bit distracting. But great video guys :)
I'm looking at you right now!
Hardware keyboards on phones are nice to use but it also means having to sacrifice most of the screen. I use my phone for a lot of media consumption so love the fact the keyboard doesn't get in the way.
hey what about the camera photo reverse feature
I like the second camera, it lets me feel like I'm part of a group and that he's talking to "us" rather than to the camera. Seeing a different part of his face is refreshing. It can seem a little dark lighting sometimes, but it's an office, so whatever. ~ please do a "What would Jon like to see from WP8.5/9, phones, features, specs, anything! Thanks!
Xperia z or BB10? im leaning toward Xperia because of how much better it is hardware wise but i dunno :S
Does Lumia have a physical keyboard.?
have to say the business and personal profiles sound really good, and stick to one camera!
Great and funny video. Don't really like all the camera angles tho. Like sometimes when the camera switch, you're still looking at the other camera! So, why make it switch when you're not even looking at it?
how is BBM on the device ??
Maybe you should only switch cameras when you move to a new topic. Discuss number 5, then turn to the other camera and start on number 4, and so on
The two angles is awkward when Jon isn't looking directly at the camera. When he turns to look at the other camera and the angle switches too, it's fine but it's awkward when the angle changes and the camera he's looking at doesn't.
It made it obvious that you're looking at a screen or "notes". Its not so obvious when the camera is directly in front of you.
Looking at both cameras would be better :)! Also, maybe switch between cameras between the camera cuts it could look very professional :
I like the time stitching in the camera app
should i buy stocks???
The dual cameras are a little distracting. Stick with the information it's what you guys are good at!
I want to see the full touch screen on the BB 10
No mention of the awesome camera app???
The dual-cameras are great and at points made me chuckle.
what about apps? is bb10 going to have apps?
Maybe if you look at the camera at key moments and give a rant or express something or tell a joke, the 2nd camera might work, but if is there like just another angle... It doesn't works
I'm very interested in BlackBerry Balance 2:55, that seems like an enticing feature.
Use two camers but make sure to adjust the lighting evenly next time!
Not a fan of the second camera. I know its something different, but I seem to be more interested and focused when your looking at the camera
I want to see how BB 10 will hold up seeing how late it's coming out. Hopefully it won't pull a WebOS on us and fail
I wonder what kind of phone blackberry will create for bbx
Don't record with 2 cameras any more, or change the angle of the second camera. :)
