This is actually something based in reality. Many ambulances, firetrucks, and some police cars have an alternate "siren" they can sound, which produces a low-bass-y sound like this. The reason for it, is that you can *FEEL* bass. So even if you can't hear the siren... you'll *FEEL* it, check your mirrors, and see the emergency vehicle behind you. Only difference is, they only sound it off when someone appears to not be noticing the sirens.. It doesn't replace the typical siren noises. Its actually more like a horn used to supplement the sirens and lights. They call it the rumbler, if I recall. When I worked EMS, I've driven ambulances that had them installed. At the station I worked at one of our old ambulances still had the rumbler functioning. Our airhorns were shot which was horrible. It was activated by a switch that would reset after you pressed it and was programmed to remain on for like 10-20 seconds. You would have to press the button again to turn it back on. At least when I was on the truck, used to just keep reactivating it whether people saw us coming or not lol. Was just annoying you couldn't toggle it on permantly.
I find this sound actually pretty futuristic. Imagining it becoming a reality and the prospect of a cop pulling you up at midnight on an empty highway with this siren sounds pretty scary.

Sadly the siren is changed, waiting for a mod to bring back the old siren. The new siren is really quiet too for some reasons, like the police car horn is earrape loud but siren is barely audible.
