You talking about all the updates that happened between the original appearance and Ultimate makes me appreciate them so much more. They didn't just simply bring old stages back, they worked hard to make them visually in line with the latest entries of the respective series.

Something worth adding for Poke Floats, it was originally going to be Sprout Tower from Pokemon Gold and Silver, but because of time constraints, they just put together models from Pokemon Stadium and made a weird stage out of it.

    few details you missed:
    - in saffron city, the pokemon voices are completely different in ultimate than they were in 64
    - in great bay, ultimate adds a piece of heart that is reminiscient of where it is in majora's mask
    - in corneria, you can find a building featuring general pepper
    - corneria and venom feature secret taunts for fox and falco involving the rest of the starfox cast talking on radio
    - flat zone has the falling tools from helmet which can damage other players

Here's some other details missed on Ultimate's version of Fourside:
-If you zoom in on the Monotoli Building, there is a full render of Monotoli's office. Though the furniture inside are a copy-and-paste of the rooms seen on the right-side building, the gold aesthetic matches the source material.
-On the right-side building there is an orange Hawaiian shirt and a pair of red sunglasses hanging on a clothesline, resembling the clothes worn by Everdred in Earthbound.
-Also on the right-side building is a water tower that resembles a house from Saturn Valley, from the shape of the tower and the bow on the tip of the roof.

Course more recent fighting games don't always have characters sticking to to their home stages in singple-player modes, especially with the advent of story modes in fighting games where the opposing characters often move around through the course of the story and sometimes the heroes going together have to fight each other.

you missed out certain other new elements that's been done to Fourside in Ultimate
    - the overall design of Fourside in Ultimate now resembles a lot more closely to New York City than in Melee
    - the redesign of the Monotoli Building now has a translucent window where you can see a gold room, which is actually the office of Monotoli, you can have a clearer look of the office when you zoom in.
    - the right side building now has a shack on top with a clothesline with an orange Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses, the same clothes worn by Everdred. You can say that it's Everdred's shack, though his shack is in Twoson in EarthBound. However, Everdred did go to Fourside in order to attempt to steal the Mani Mani Statue.
    - the UFO used to simply just blink and disappear after a certain time in Melee. Now in Ultimate, instead of just blinking and disappearing afterwards, the same UFO sounds from the EarthBound intro plays out in intervals with the green light on the bottom of the UFO blinking with the sound, indicating a countdown for the UFO where when it finishes its countdown, it'll zoom back into the background & then fly away into space (flying up into the moon)
Worth to point out that of the Melee stages that returned in Ultimate, Fourside had the biggest design overhaul

17:50 Additionally, the actual DK64 stage doesn't resemble the Smash stage at all
21:44 What is the big, round thing in the background? It' wiggles and shakes when the acid touches it, so it is alive, but what is it?
30:21 The models look like they were shifted straight from Pokemon Stadium 1/2, specially with Onyx's spinning middle section, just one of the many weird liberties the animation team for the series had.
Additionally, the stage could be a reference to the 2001 Macy's thanksgiving day parade where they had floats representing the franchise with a giant Pikachu Balloon.

Something else worth mentioning about Saffron City: Obviously, the stage is set atop Silph Co., indicating an obvious reference to the games. There are of course plenty of skyscrapers in the background. While there really aren't any skyscrapers besides Silph Co. in the games, there are several skyscrapers which make up Saffron City's skyline in the anime. Therefore, it's likely that the Saffron City stage took some inspiration from the anime as well as the games.

Nice video, I've always wondered the origins of those stages, however, you left out the stages that were only featured in the single player Adventure mode in Melee

Pretty sure the creative direction behind Smash and Kirby is connected, and it might be more reasonable to suggest that the Kirby guy(s) reimagined the fountain in smash first, but weren't 'inspired' by it or whatever. They just took an opportunity to make what they wanted, then kept doing that when working on the primary IP as well.

I always found it weird how Melee Corneria has the music of the original Venom level on SNES, while Melee Venom has the normal Starfox theme and sounds much calmer. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Venom is normally the more chaotic of the levels.
Not that I complain, I've just always found it funny.

Fun Fact for some strange reason the music For Corneria is actually the Music for The Venom Stage In The Original Star Fox Game which til this day confuses me as to why the developers didnt just put the original Star Fox theme for the Corneria Stage Instead

The falcon fligher has appeared in F-Zero for the SNES. It’s what refills your shield/energy bar. You see it descending when you go across the refill strips on the track. Need proof? Look at the falcon flyer trophy and see the bottom matches the snes version

While Pokefloats pretty much has no inspiration, I would say it’s very possible that it inspired the third act climax of the Detective Pikachu movie, which involves a parade taking place with giant balloons shaped like Pokémon.
