If you had put the watch on a radiator for an hour it would have sorted the issue out. and if you had pressed the crown stem release button found on the movement the crown and its stem would have been released.
when I bought my Casio Mudmaster GG1000 they warned me not to shower with it on because while it is water resistant to 20 bars it is not water vapor resistant. That may be what happened.
mudmaster is a fuckin joke then, i visit steambaths in my suunto and my komandirskie. Finish saunas at 120c and jumping into cold lakes after that, or sitting in jacuzzi after gym. Works for 7 years
Next time you have watch moisture issues, just take the back cover off and place the watch inside a zip-lock bag with white rice. Start with a ~1/2 cup of white rice in a new zip-lock bag, then place a small piece of white paper carefully on top of the rice, then place the watch on the small piece of paper carefully laying the top of the crown on top of the paper so the moisture can evaporate up and out the back of the watch. Ensure that no rice gets inside of the watch. Seal the bag and place it in direct sunlight for 6-8 hours. Carefully remove the watch so no rice gets inside the watch. Before reassembling the watch, lightly spray the gasket with silicon before final assembly and ensure that the gasket is seated properly. The total disassembly of a cheap watch is way to much work, and your time is far to valuable to do anything but change the battery on these watches!
When condensation is on the watch face it is usually caused by an incorrectly aligned and sealed face,. Alternatively, the seal on the main screw shaft is sometimes not seated correctly, plus it can be caused by lack of Orings, or the watch being put together in a humid environment. I would use thicker or double O-rings where possible, seal the screws with a light seal/oil. Dry the parts out before putting it back together. - Nice tea-down video, seeing more of these tear-downs for other brands like Stryve, Sanda and SKMEI would be awesome. - I did tear down a SMAEL and SANDA before, both similar to a tough GShock, and the internals seemed very similar, would not be surprised if SMAEL and SANDA were made in the same factories, or used the same supplier for core components.
At 8:18 you can see a tiny black stick near the oscillator on the green board. There are two of these. If you lose them the backlit won't work when you put everything back together.
I have about 6 of these watches, in different face designs, and styles... I definitely think they are worth the low costs ($9-11) I paid for them compared to a Casio, etc. Also as a fellow Texan thanks for sacrificing your watch to learn about the inner workings... Tube On!
I live in Houston Texas I actually bought one of these watches at Baybrook Mall about a month ago so far still working but I'm not holding my breath but like you said it was cheap
contact AC means you have to short the battery out to negative when replacing it, from what I remember you used to have to do that on older SEKONDAS too, and sometimes that fails on the chipset. I had a few SEKONDAS that needed to go through the reset procedure and would be bricked as it failed, infact I have a brand new one which works on the analogue side but fails on the digital because the reset procedure did not work.
LMAO....you probably could have stuck in rice like a cell phone. But I enjoyed watching your take the watch apart. I used to do this to everything when u was a kid. So it was satisfying watch you do it.
I have the same exact watch and the black numbers and all dark makes it really hard to do anything, the best way to use it is with the light button pressed. So I wanted to dismantle it and use green fluorescent color and paint the numbers.... I succeeded just because of your video and the comment of @diamondJoe1109. But the only leftover problem is that the color I was sold doesn't glow in the dark.... soo.... it is just dark green now. Still much better visibility than before...
I did it thanks to you mister :) You have to press the crown all the way down, push that small lever( which moves when you pull/press the crown) and pull the crown out.... works like charm :)
EVERY manual movement has a tiny button, tin tongue or lever. You press it gently and it releases the stem. To get the threaded bit out of the crown one needs to heat the stem to break the lock glue.
I'm a watch guy and own really expensive to mid price point watches. I'm also an avid motorcycle rider/builder and wanted a cheap watch that don't care if it gets beat up. For the price point I paid $19 Canadian delivered through Amazon Prime, I'm okay with some of the little defects most of the TH-camr's have posted.
As long as it says the time and i don't have to spend more than $50, i don't care how it looks. I use mine for playing paintball and jet skiing. Stuff the i don't dare to do with my inexpensive $50 Casio Duro.
Can anyone assist me in finding replacement band straps for my Smael 8001 watch? I have 2 of them with broken straps and I would love to replace them with new straps. Any help would be appreciated!
I too have a couple myself, and granted people say their cheap, but be honest did you notice the how it was put together? And most likely Casio's probably the same. So I think it's a great buy as long as you remember not to lose the screws, but most likely it went in the trash, compared to a watch smith.
So I would say that the answer is NOT to try removing the actual analogue movement from the case as it is not necessary to do this in order to replace the batteries (analogue and digital)..🙃
I knew that was gonna go wrong and I'm a complete fuckin idiot. Good luck and nice try. Now I know what not to do. I don't mean this as a backhanded comment as I've learned a lot without the risk. THANK YOU. stevie r
Interesting video, thanks, I did not know how to disassemble the bracelet in this type of watches... Unfortunately you sacrificed your watch trying to learn by yourself how to evaporate those water bubbles... Maybe a normal air dryer would have made the trick... Thanks...
Their disposable. Not worth the cost and time to take it apart to replace battery/batteries. The work good during the life time. $20 or less you can have a new one. Had a Sketcher and G-Shock and realized the same for the Sketcher. Would like to check out the G-Shock in this way.
Man. Save up and get a legit mudmaster. They are amazing. You can get one for around 450 if you check eBay for a while. Definitely worth every penny and I promise you won't be disappointed.
Itz a 20$ watch... and yall are talking like its a 500$ one... i just got one of these for free.. just to replace my icy antique chronograph... most modern mechanical and quartz movements do have a stem release button that needs to be compressed before stem removal... simple watch repair... lolololololol...
I've got 4 of these and they are awesome!! I swim, shower and kayak with mine and haven't had a moisture problem at all.
Me either
Awesome. Im getting a truckload.
I bought dozens of these and it's really cheap but not cheap quality! All my customers are all satisfied with their purchase.
Great up load same problem but also needed to change the bat was quoted £20.00 per watch So now thanks to you have done it myself thanks !!
Bat?
If you had put the watch on a radiator for an hour it would have sorted the issue out. and if you had pressed the crown stem release button found on the movement the crown and its stem would have been released.
Yes, that's it....The crown stem release mechanism needs releasing....I guess the author has not worked on analogue watches very much..
when I bought my Casio Mudmaster GG1000 they warned me not to shower with it on because while it is water resistant to 20 bars it is not water vapor resistant. That may be what happened.
VAPOR DISPLACEMENT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE WATER...YOU CAN'T SHOWER

Yes, thank you for taking it apart. You’ve saved many the trouble. Regards!
Use magnifier to see properly arrow mark to show where to press to remove the shaft.
U need to use some pin to press crown shaft remove button in movement.

I did tear down a SMAEL and SANDA before, both similar to a tough GShock, and the internals seemed very similar, would not be surprised if SMAEL and SANDA were made in the same factories, or used the same supplier for core components.
I have been swimming with mine in the creek dozens of times and had no water issues.
There’s a little button in the movement by the battery you push, then the crown and that whole shaft come off with it.
At 8:18 you can see a tiny black stick near the oscillator on the green board. There are two of these. If you lose them the backlit won't work when you put everything back together.

16:57 there is a spot that says "push" on the movement. Push it and the crown stem will come out.
diamondjoe1109
It is very hard. I tried many times but the stem doesn't come out...
I did it thanks to you mister :) You have to press the crown all the way down, push that small lever( which moves when you pull/press the crown) and pull the crown out.... works like charm :)
Very helpful video!! Coincidentally I took mine apart with same Cabelas mini pliers, of same color!
Its the only work watch I found that doesn't break in a few months.

Hey James that was a successful surgery you did awesome it was great brain surgery
Thanks man!
what size is the analog battery?
Even if the watch is NEW, I ALWAYS check if the screws are well TIGHTENED...
Hot/warm showers is an enemy to all watches.
That must be main reason... Thanks for the advice
So a gshock won't survive a boiling water torture test then eh
Levers out movement without removing crown - cue unsurprising snapping sound
Stick to the day job!! How to destroy a perfectly good watch in one lesson.

It should. They online not to expose it to warm/hot water. Cold water sould be fine though.
It looks like the long screws for the manual clock is captured in the knob at the case. I bet it can unscrew from that, and not the clock mechanism
Lololol... no... its the stem release button... 😅😅😅😅
Just stick it in a tub of rice. Just like a cell phone. Before they got their water resistant act together... 😁
Smael says in most literature avoid steam & obviously hot water or pressing buttons under water. Do not throw your watch in th shower.
Can anyone assist me in finding replacement band straps for my Smael 8001 watch? I have 2 of them with broken straps and I would love to replace them with new straps. Any help would be appreciated!
So when you have to replace the battery of the analog part you have to tear it down almost completely?
Yepperzzz
Not att all, you have to remove the big battery than you have access to the small one which operate the analog part
I too have a couple myself, and granted people say their cheap, but be honest did you notice the how it was put together? And most likely Casio's probably the same. Hey dude, The watch has a screen saver On it, just Peel it Off, The water is Only between it and the Glass.
it was enough to remove the stem of the mass in ora via a small button instead of breaking it ... a true genius
That was fun.
battery size is same as skmei. lasts at least 3 years
Peel the screen protector off the next one friend and you wont get that mist.
Their disposable. Not worth the cost and time to take it apart to replace battery/batteries. The work good during the life time. $20 or less you can have a new one.
Had a Sketcher and G-Shock and realized the same for the Sketcher. Would like to check out the G-Shock in this way.
Which model skemi watch they have
Is this a silent movies contender ,or is it my computer?
You can buy a g shock and Walmart for 40 bucks
a g shock plus Walmart damn for 40 bucks that's a great investment 😂
Lololololololol...^^^^
I would not give him anything to dismantle or repair, total novice and not mechanically inclined at all
A watch destructor ROFL
I really like mine.
Watch Killer!
It seem to be it was exposed either hot/steam water. I have like this watch without any moisture that happen.
So you destroy the watch .. very nice ROFL
what the name of tools you use for to open the screws?
Screwdriver maybe! Lol
Maybe the screws at back is loose 🤣
Now it's buggered
Definitely it is a disposable watch. Throw when battery runs out.
Quit complaining not happy buy another one for 10$ the band is worth that love the two I have.
I just got mine.. what will i do not to make it moist??????
Leo Betiz don't expose to warm/hot water as directions advise. This guy in video admits he showers with it. That's why he has moisture issue.
dont shower with watch thats it you wont have problems like this
You from Lubbock Texas?
Righty tighty lefty loosie

10:48 breaks watch...lolololol... good thing its not an omega...lolololol...
you did shower with hot water thats why....
with a torch you would have destroyed it better and faster. Find a less delicate job.
Exactly don't shower with this watch
No gas mask Smael to me.
No se tiene que cortar nada del plástico si se estira sale toda la corona con el eje, chapuzaaaaaa
Pissed off with that shit watch, worked 1 month than mecanic part stops working, changed the battery, same problem, piece of junk
Itz a 20$ watch... and yall are talking like its a 500$ one... i just got one of these for free.. just to replace my icy antique chronograph... most modern mechanical and quartz movements do have a stem release button that needs to be compressed before stem removal... simple watch repair... lolololololol...
Throw it away and buy another one!
i bought one analog function does not work. this is diffinetly a POS watch do not buy
Just throw it against a brick wall with all your might and buy another
Hahaha no how to get the crown...
Take the plastic off the face
Conclusion....: Don't buy these watches!
It's a kids toy watch with make believe painted on pretend features. Buy a real watch and save these for kids party favor bags.
