I have the anytone version of the rt95. I am always praised on my audio quality on repeater nets. I do get some breakthrough on uhf but almost all my uhf radios get that. Has better 2m receive than my yeasu vx-6r handheld. When doing simplex on 2m this is great!
I have an AT778UV as well and also get great feedback on local nets. Great deal!
Interesting, I have the RT95 and the audio is really weak. I put a bigger mic capsule with an amplifier in it. Now it's loud and clear, only a bit too bright.
The RA25 radio is also a Ham radio, you just unlock it to the bands for your area. Or you can open it wide open but it has the different bands for the different parts of the world including Australia. You can switch it back at will as well, so if you get the games version you can go back to that from ham bands. I have two of those and they sound fantastic on transmit and are really easy to use while driving in the vehicle, with a good simple display. I highly recommend it!
Picked up a Anysecu WP-9900 Dual Band 25 watts from Amazon seems to work pretty good.
I have the Radiodity version of the RA25. One of my favorite budget mobile radios. And it can be unlocked for ham.
Ok - 2 Baofeng cables, a TinySA (not the ultra) and a DM-1701 all off your pages ordered. Thanks for putting this all together!
Thank you for your support! Please let me know how you go with the DM-1701.. I've been thinking about getting it
@@HamRadioDX Wow. This radio is my first venture into DMR, and holy crap is it confusing as heck. Codeplugs, contacts, etc. I haven't had the time to try and figure out where to start let alone program the darned thing. I've seen a couple of suggestions to convert the stock firmware over to Open GD77, and I might just do that. Just need to figure out where to begin with programming channels and such.
One question about the TinySA - I bought a 40db attenuator. I just need to put the one item between the radio and the TinySA in order to check harmonics? Label says it's 10W, so maybe I can check my 8W Baofeng?
Thanks for all you do. Your channel (Along with Temporarily Offline KM9G) is one of my main go to channels when I have questions or need info.
Next steps are getting my general license and getting a HF rig that won't set me back $2k... I can fire up the ASL node if necessary....
@@michaelmeyer2725 Hi mate,
Yes a 40dB attenuator will be enough to measure up to 10W (as that is 40dBm) so the 8W should be fine.
Good luck with the General and might work you on Allstar one day soon!
For the x6100 or 6200…..what amplifier would you recommend to get 100w.
Ordered RA25 radio, On-Air sign and Quan U-K5. Good to help you too.
Thanks mate! Appreciate it!
I purchased the 12ah battery just now. Great video! De W6OBB
Nice! Thank you!
Love my UVk8, can't wait for the uvk10 with the HF board pre installed with a version of EGZumer already wrote on it
unfortunately amazon jacks up their prices prior to prime day to make it look like huge savings.
The best radio I owned was a Motorola Spectra VHF 125 watts. It reached over 100 miles easy
Many enticing goodies but I've blown my budget recently. That Kaiweets multimeter is definitely on my wishlist. Open GD77 will be great to play with, that's another wishlist item. I just bought a gme cb for the car, the 706MKII, a tuner, efhw and something else that I forgot, thats why I have no budget left. Haha. HF time soon! 😊
The Kaiweets clamp meter is awesome, I use it all the time. OpenGD77 is a to-do list thing.. like most of my projects :D
Ahh nice, you have a HF radio! Be good to hear you on air soon
The rt95 is a great radio if you do not mind super slow scanning speed of the 200 memory channels. I actually use a hand held next to my rt95 in scan mode to make up for its slow scanning.
I have had my RT95 for 2 weeks now and I'm really enjoying it. I've unlocked the extra bands and have used my laptop to program it. Super easy, and great features. The only thing, I wish it were louder. I can just fix that with a nice external speaker.
Hayden why not do more for australia ?
Quite simply - Amazon Australia sucks.. they have virtually nothing for amateur radio, even more common things. It's the regionalization I mentioned at the beginning of the video.
@@HamRadioDX Not good for us at all along with spell checker putting "Z"s where "S"s are supposed to be. LOL
@@shanehean1 Yeah.. it has gotten a "little" better since it was first introduced here.. but it's still nothing compared to what you can get overseas.
Buy Chinese, no new products to copy.
I want the Quansheng K5 8, for the advertised $ 21.00 but I want it in orange ! Amazon, can you accommodate ?
With the TD-H3, you being a repeater owner will appreciate this, can it transmit a A,B,C and D dtmf tone? I need that to program or remote my repeaters. Robert KD4YDC
Yes it will!
Press the * or DTMF button.
Then A is the blue BT button.
B is the up arrow
C is the down arrow
And the orange V/M button is D
They had a better deal last year on the G90. I was looking for it this year. I think it was $349
I bought a heil pro 7 ic today for my ic 7300 do you know if they make a AD CONECTOR for the anytone 5555n2 to use my headset on that
I'm not sure about the Anytone - but Heil have an adapter chooser on their website - heilhamradio.com/compatibility/
Any idea who’s selling Kenwood TH-D75’s in VK ?
Nobody, I believe you have to import
Out of curiosity I checked and that Kenwood radio is apparently not available in the USA. I see a few accessories for it but not the radio. I suppose you could get around these import restrictions if someone buys it whete its sold then ships it like an old used radio directly to you.
I ordered a couple items from your links. Thanks for posting. 73 NA5C
Thanks for the support 👍 I appreciate it
The Amazon Australia "tax" makes even their Prime Day prices idiotic in VK-land.
I had the retevis rt95. It gets super hot. Mine fried out really fast. Beware.
Mate! I know you have a US audience but you’re an Aussie, what’s with using miles instead of kilometers? Sprung 😂 ps: those links don’t seem to work for vks or I’m doing it wrong
Americans don't understand kilometres. Yeah you're not doing anything wrong - as per the start of the video - Amazon regionalizes... almost 90% of things that are available in the US aren't in Australia. It's an Amazon problem
Thanks H-Dawg this is a really useful video.
Cheers!
I avoid Amazon, Ebay, and all those other mass mailers like the plague.
Must suck to live then
I feel the same way. I wish I could shop locally for everything.
@@DJCryptoStix I get everything I have ever ordered on time. I'm just fine. Why would you ever think my life sucks? I just don't support monopolies. They start thinking they can control what you can buy. They are controlled by the same people that say you will own nothing and be happy.
Good to know. I’ll keep it in mind next time
You are speaking about the TDH3 radios but apparently don’t know anything about them or even own one? I do know about them and regardless of the reviews, these things are hit or miss. I bought two and they literally would not comm 1/4 mile away to the neighbor’s shop line of sight. I moved to a higher location and one was spot on with zero static, and the other was a static filled POS. Kinda sounds like you are just cruising amazon and talking for likes and subscriptions.
How long ago did you buy yours? I recently bought one and am having trouble hitting repeaters over a mile away
@@dudegalen approx 2 months ago. I returned them to amazon for a full refund. The Baofeng UV5G plus, UV5R, Retevis NR30, and Wouxun KG-UV9G work fine, although I really dislike the Retevis NR30 since one cannot really customize the settings using the Retevis software and their manual us pathetic. Probably alot more than you wanted to know…lol
Suggest you watch the video again champ. I literally held one up to the camera and have done two review videos on them.
@@HamRadioDX okay, sport.
