  • Trailer for Giota's Journey a 47 min documentary by Garry Beitel, reFrame Films www.reframe-films.com
Giota's Journey is an intimate portrait of Giota Boussios, a 48-year-old Montreal woman, born with cerebral palsy. Warm, good humoured, acutely sensitive and keenly intelligent, Giota is wheelchair bound and unable to speak. She has learned to communicate through an intriguing system that uses subtle eye movements and slight facial gestures. Supported by a loving Greek family, she spends her days at an educational program for adults with similar disabilities. Giota's Journey explores her unique relationships with family and caregivers, her dreams of love and travel, the poetry of her eyes and words.

Hi, we bought the movie at University du Quebec à Trois-Rivières for the AAC class. It is truly a great documentary. The students really appreciated it - so did I! Thank you!

love this! I did this kind of work for years working as a nurse and just loved it! Taking care of disabled people is very rewarding work. Not a lot of people can go home after work knowing they made a difference in peoples lives in the way those who care for them do. A lot of the people we had were very young. One gal was only 19 years old so she was younger than me but her family never came around in fact a lot of families back then weren't around. I am glad today society is more accepting and understanding of people with disabilities and that makes me happy. The 19 year old I took care of had constant seizures and today she could have been helped. Seeing such a young girl in such a state was heart breaking. Now if we could just get the care givers more respect and better pay we would really be on the right track :o)

Friend of my, she is doing this kind of job. It is always low paid long hours selfgiving job, but boy she is happy! I'm sitting in my spacious office dividing work to my subordinates taking very nice money, but I never feel that much satisfaction from work as she does. And I'm to lazy/scared/weak to just quit and go for somethink else...easier to say then to be done. Cheers and good luck to all

I am shocked by Giota's family's opinion. I am glad she has found this way to communicate.
