This is arguably the saddest moment in the whole story. Sasuke made all of them look like nothing to him. Sakura sustained more injuries from Naruto than Sasuke. It was like their entire relationship, Sakura not being able to do anything to and for Sasuke.The saddest part about this arc is that the reason they failed the mission was because of Naruto. The one who wanted to save Sasuke the most. He was very inconsiderate about what Sasukes reasons. Naruto failed even harder than in the first Sasuke retrieval mission. He was warned repeatedly to be focused but he let his failure of saving Sasuke get to him when he felt reminded of it by being around Sai. He unleashed his power to the highest and it cost him. To the point where he was so damaged he couldn’t fight properly so he looked even weaker in front of Sasuke. To the point that he was so weak that he validated Sasuke reason for leaving the village to focus on his true goal. Sasuke finally sees what Naruto’s look like and shuts it off with an underwhelming genjutsu. Making it look like Naruto is nothing without Kurama.Naruto’s incompetence nearly lead to the team’s destruction only to be saved by the man who started all of this(imagine how painful that felt);Watching the same man take Sasuke away again before his very eyes.
