    Sage is coming out with some killer rods and reels.

      I thought the same. I loved my Sage Reel until I bought a Ross Animas for my 7wt. I quit wanting to use my Sage 5wt. I bought a 4/5 Ross Colorado for that rod. My wife is taking my Sage.

    Bought both a SONIC 5wt and 4wt from Red’s and love them both.

    Its a Sage One with a new blank colour, it feels so similar and hums line like the One did too

    Workhorse is the word. My Sage 4 weight has gone all over with me and I even fish it a lot in the hill country. Nice power and feel, old school Sage. What’s a nice reel to pair with it ?

      Oh there are so many options, if you have a brand you are loyal to and trust - go that way. I have Lamson Litespeeds, Sage Arbor XL, or a Galvan Tourqe. These are a few nice options depending on your flavor.

    I'll be moving up to WA this fall and was wondering would a 4wt Sage Igniter do well on your waters like the Yakima? I was told that it was a more western type of rod.

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely. That is a crisper version of the Sage SONIC. Same action, superior materials.

    What net are you using bud? Fishpond?
    Looking for something similar for steelhead..

    Im looking to invest good money in one setup. I currently have a Clearwater 9’ 5wt. But I want a top notch rod as well. What size/wt. rod would u recommend. I live in North Carolina

    Joe...do you ever catch small fish ? Geez.....what a beautiful monster.

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha yea of course. I don't care a whole lot about the size of the trout though, it's fooling them that is rewarding. Early season right now is a great time for mature trout. By May we'll start to see a much higher number of smaller trout.

    Have you fished the 390 Sonic? I have a 7’6” 3wt Winston Pure, which I love but it fits into a very specific niche. To complement it I’m thinking it would be good to have a more general purpose 3wt, hopefully in the mid-price range.

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not, but would think for a big river dry fly rod it would be absolutely awesome. That SONIC would be perfect for throwing small dry flies accurately in the wind at some distance. If that is in your wheelhouse go for it!

    What sonic streamer rod should I get? I'm looking hard at a 9.5FT 6wt or the 7wt single hand rod. I live in Oregon and WA so if it could handle a summer steelhead that would be cool but mainly for large rivers, trout, and bass. Rods are getting hit about their listed weight nowadays so I am leaning towards the 6wt. Thanks.

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the 9'6" 7 weight for this scenario. Very versatile. Good lifting power for sink tips, streamers, indicators.

      @@redsflyshop What fly line would you recommend with this setup? I think I'm going to get an outfit going on your website here soon. Looking at the predator line but not sure. And not sure if I should go full float or not. I do have a Rio Gold 8wt that I could use for floating stuff so I may try an intermediate line but I'm not sure.

      @@Ryan-yp7zb I sure like the Scientific Angler's Amplitude Infinity, good match for a variety of applications.

    Just moved to Washington, would you recommend the 4wt or a 5wt Sonic for western Washington rivers?

    • @redsflyshop

      Oh the #4 for sure, some tight water on that side of the hill.

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rs5280 I would say 8'6" for your side of the mountains, the rivers are a bit smaller.

    What line are you throwing on the Sonic?

    • @ryanstines9748
      @ryanstines9748 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He’s using the new Rio Grand Elite 4 weight in Pale Green/Lt. Yellow/Gray color, but he’s nymphing. He said in his previous video of the Sonics that the Rio Gold would be ideal for dry flies on this 490-4.

  • @Nrussell11
    @Nrussell11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really? This 4wt can throw a hopper/dropper?

    • @redsflyshop
      @redsflyshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. I wouldn't run beyond a 9' leader on that rig, but yes. The 9' model will kick over a hopper/dropper extremely well.

    • @redsflyshop

    • @redsflyshop
