While true, you have to keep in mind that while Mickey has a lot of world wide awareness, it isn't like they have made actual shows/movies with him in ages; he is more like Jack from Jack in the Box. Well known, but you don't buy the food for the table tennis head, you go there for the burgers/fries. Hell I think the last thing that starred Mickey in a primary role is like Fantasia, and that came out in the 90s I think. Meanwhile Pokemon drops shows/games basically nonstop for nearly 3 decades, regularly featuring an unaging cast as well.
@@shadowfiresword Sorry to be an annoying nerd here, but Fantasia came out in 1940. And last year we just ended a series of Mickey shorts that ran from 2020 to 2023, and that series is a sequel to the Paul Rudish's Mickey series that ran from 2013 to 2018. And before that series there was multiple things aswell, Disney still regularly makes stuff with Mickey, its just that nobody talks about it, cuz nobody cares about Mickey Mouse
@@andresousa101 Fair enough, I just remembered seeing it in theaters as a kid several decades back so figured that was its release date (might have been a remastered thing). Regardless though that makes the point even worse if they are still doing recent releases with Mickey, with the financial resources of one of the worlds largest media producers, and nobody can even bother to give half a shit.
Idea for an anime watch night: viewer submitted anime clips. Half hour to an hour, presumably a rule against spoilers for shows you're actively watching.

Angel Beats, Clannad, Air, Kanon etc. are all very sad stories, all originally visual novels developed by Key. Clannad is the most infamous one.

@@okluminous566 While I agree, not sure if Angel Beats would be a good fit for a streamer, since it takes more than half the season until things change from light hearted comedy. Even enjoying the goofiness I nearly ended dropping it before it switched up.

Actually if I’m not mistaken angel beats was an anime first and the VN came after because the author wanted to do more with his story but time constraints had it shortened in anime form and I don’t think he finished the VN due to health complications

I'm a little sad that the person who did the video, chose to do only 1 Opening per year. There was some fantastic openings that overlapped with each other in some years.
I'm happy that Cowboy Bebop (1998-1999) was picked, but there were also others like Trigun (1998) and Sorcerous Stabber Orphen (1998-2000)

Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop, two mind-effing animes to die for. Heck, I still use a license plate on my car that reads "3... 2... 1... Let's Jam!"
I'd say Cowboy Bebop is more straight-forward. For Evangelion you better have some basic knowledge of abrahamic religions or it'll be quite difficult to understand on a first or second watch. You'd miss much of the symbolism and references like the simple fact the title, "Neon Genesis Evangelion", is essentially greek for "Gospel of the new beggining/creation"
Cowboy Bebop is nice, and it’s very musically episodic, not too plot intensive. Like each episode is a tribute to a music genre. The show is how i found Yuki Kanno and her musical work is amazing
Also Bebop probably put Steve Blum on the map, if he wasnt already. Man’s filmography is crazy prolific

Erased cheered you up? Weird for such dark themed show. With of course one exception in episode 9. There was indeed a heart-warming scene.
@@matijamaksan4344 Well, when I said cheered me up, yeah, the scene when Kayo finally got her warm meal, warm my heart. But also this series makes me excited and keeps me on my toes with me thinking how Satoru manages to save Kayo and how will he do it and also who is actually the killer of his mom even though at the end, it was kind of obvious but still keep me excited for each episode. And I watch the show on my laptop every time I went back from school, so you know, stress and feeling gloomy every time. I can forget about all of those for a moment when watching some good animes.
I love erased but so much people hate on it just because its predictable🥲

I like how dipper calls us out for not having seen Erased, has clearly seen anime around the time frame of Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass, yet is all 'eh I'll watch them eventually.' Anime bing night those two!!!!! (though fair warning, Code Geass touches a lot on racism, so if that gets to be too much for you I understand dipper dogging out)

angel beats is horribly underrated, it has great music but is also a nice story, really recommend it is also only 13 episodes, so easy to find the time to watch
Evangelion, is kid of a must watch due to its cultural influence and follow ups to the date, really helped introduce classical music into anime, is not that much of a mindfuck anime, save for last couple episodes, now for that you want to check S.E. lain, watch at your own peril
Fully agree on serial experiment lain. Also while I haven't seen it I believe they did some new/remastered version of Evangelion that might be worth the watch. While the old one still is interesting, a lot of it is 'oh look shinji is moping again for another couple of episodes' so might not mesh well with modern aesthetics. That said though Cowboy Bebop holds up well even to this day and they are both from the same era.

At least they end upp in a good marriage even if Sauske is still kinda akward and distant but hey it was for world peace and protection against the Otsutsuki so you can't really be mad. For Hellsing the Abriged version is actually the better story telling, they removed almost nothing significant from the original, more cleanly spliced some of the flashback stuff, and added some more (on release) appropriate content. #CrimsonFuckr. I recommend giving both versions an episode 1 watch, that'll tell you which vibe fits you best.
wrong Magical girls are almost as old as anime himself "Princess Knight" (Ribon no Kishi form Manga no kamisama himself Osamu Tezuka) is considereded precursor of the genre, Sailor Moon Give a More action oriented Spin to the genere (even if was not the first to do it), and created the Magical Girl team. before her the mayority of Magical Girls where alone.
you want a sad anime, well sad is kinda wrong altho not really: Violet Evergarden my absolute Favorite anime of all time, in my opinion perfection, especially with the specials, and if you like the ending dramatic happy it even has a movie to support that.
it explores emotion better than anything i have seen so far as someone who once went on the same journey as Violet.
i am kinda sad that some great opinings were missing due to some of the shonen trends kicking everything else from the list like therre is no way you content as JoJos or Violet Evergarden or Death Parade or Love is War against Demon Slayer or JuJutsu kaisen
