We've similar food in Maharashtra called Ghaavane or Amboli in the Kokan area. We soak rice overnight, grind it, and make a little thin watery puree, put a little salt, and throw in a pan without oil. And surprisingly we also have it with black tea. We also have a special pan for it which is always rare to find generally.
