Well, sorry to let you know that in the early 1980's, while your girl was in college, I used Pink Lotion, Blue Magic Hair Grease, & plain lukewarm water on my freshly washed natural (& extremely thick & long) 4C hair. Also, I'd sometimes add a mayonnaise rich leave-in conditioner to this regimen. After applying each product on my wet hair & detangling it, I either plaited or twisted my hair in several sections, securing the ends w/small, medium, or large soft rod hair rollers. Then, I allowed it to COMPLETELY air-dry, & the results (after I took out the rollers & undid each plait/twist) were amazing!!! All 4 of these hair products worked soooo well on my natural 4C hair. I (in the 80's & 90's) was successfully rock'n super moist & defined, juicy coils & S-curls w/out any chemicals! ! ! Btw.. Order of Usage on My Freshly Washed Hair (section by section): •Leave-In Conditioner •Mists of Water •Pink Lotion •Blue Magic Grease This order was/is very important for properly seal'n in the moisture, & obtaining excellent results! Right! Pink lotion gave my hair life when it was relaxed. When I decided to go natural I jumped on the "natural hair products" craze and have been struggling with dry hair for the last few years. Recently dry scalp became a problem. That's when it finally hit me that I need to go back to the basics. 🤦🏾♀️ So I bought some pink lotion and pulled out my sulfur 8. Now I'm on a mission to reclaim my moisturized hair!
Your are RIGHT on the money girl. My mom use to mix my leave in with castor oil grease and apply it after washing my hair when I was a kid, and my hair was so long but I never thought to try it now until seeing your video, YOUR METHOD WORKS. IF YOU HAVE EXCESSIVELY DRY HAIR TRY THIS METHOD !!!!!
Yes this is something I've been doing for a while as I remember when I was a child my mother did this and my hair was always deeply moisturized for days. I use rose water (rose powder made from crushed rose petals) or some days I use a fenugreek tea as oppose to just plain water which can be hard then I spray my hair with that then I use my leave-in moisturizer and then as my final step I will use my hair grease and then put my hair into two stretched twists. Its perfection when done this way. So its not a new method but its great that you are sharing this way with everyone as you have the platform to do so!
I don't know what rock I've been sleeping under, but, I just found your channel. I love your blatant honest. I recently started a channel your hair and channel are my goals!!!!! Much love!
Yeaaasss and I’ve been using grease more now. Once a week on wash day, and I’ll either braid, plait, or Bantu knot my hair for the entire week and wash it the next week. Less manipulation and I’m hoping I’m retaking some length from it!
I know your hair breath a sign of relief when you added that moisture.😀 👏🏽👏🏽 I’m really loving the grease. In fact my daughter is using it also. Love that Dax with hemp.
You know when your mom, grandma used to do your hair as a kid it grew like crazy but for some strange reason when we became teens and had to take care of our own hair some of us got ...LAZY 😏It is amazing how we always go back to our roots....literally and figuratively ain't it😝😊great vid to remind us of this👏👏👏
The original creator of the LOC method used grease, her name is Chiccora (sp). She had a book called Grow It years ago. Nonetheless it’s a great technique and thanks for sharing🥰
Wow words can't say how happy I am that I came across your channel, I tried the LLG Method and it literally saved my hair from being dry and crunchy😩 to being soft and moist😊😊😊 thanks so much,👍you're the best👏 I'll luv to know what are the ingredients for your DIY deep conditioner.
Lol...I use that same line of Not Your Mother's products...they are really good. They have a liquid leave in also in a red and white spray bottle. As for the water making your hair dry, that likely means you have hard water.
This is not even my hair type but I get fascinated seeing this 4c type!! I want to help the community and some friends! You make it look so easy will pass this along x
Glad I saw this video. Funny thing is for the last 3 months I've been using the L.L.G method but didn't know there was a name for it. and FYI i've been using Dax grease. And your right, my hair be juicy for 5 days, then I wash it.
I actually got the term "fairy knots" from US TH-camrs. I didn't know the name for them before. I've now also heard them referred to as single strand knots. Thank you for your comment and glad you found it helpful 🤗
Great video. No I’ve never heard of the LLG method but great idea. I went back to grease. My hair used to be greased all the time by my mom. NO...it’s not ironic that your hair dries out with water. My Dermatologist told me last year just because it’s water doesn’t mean it’s moisturizing...she said water is counterproductive...you wet your hair with water...it dries but it gets overly dry and then people wet it with water again...it’s a viscous cycle. She also told me to be careful with glycerin. So water is NOT as moisturizing as people think unless used with other things. To bad we don’t live close to each other...I’d give you my Blue Magic w/Hemp...I’m allergic to it. I use Softee and Ultra Sheen grease.
Right! Thank you for sharing your thoughts I feel this exact way I use fenugreek water instead with a tiny bit of conditioner (tea tree tingle by Trader Joe’s) in my spray bottle
personally i use not your mother's natural shampoo( pink mango bottle). It gets the grease out and doesn't dry out my hair. I wash my hair once a week and shampoo each time. If your concerned with it drying out your hair then try pre pooing :) ( I have type 4a/4b hair if that helps in any way)
If you want to get grease out use dawn. I know it’s for dishes but soap and shampoo are literally the same thing it’s just marketed to us that they are not because they want you to buy soap for your body, hair, coochie ,dishes, hands face, clothes, floors.
Any sulfate shampoo will suffice. I like to use the Suave clarifying shampoo and it does the trick. It doesn't have to be a clarifying shampoo, it just needs to have sulfates in it because that seems to be the only thing that completely gets the grease out.
I'll have to try the foam, but grease is from my childhood and of course gotta use a leave-in.☺️ Your hair is looking very healthy and sleek and that braid out is going to be...🔥 #NV that's new viewer lol
Hi Lauren, love your videos! I have 4C low porosity hair. Can I do the LOC method daily without having to wash my hair? I do alternate with Co-wash one week n shampoo the next. Thank you for responding!

Thank you for doing this video ! 💗 you are ABSOLUTELY right! The LLG method is extremely moisturizing and leaves your hair very soft. I did this and there is no comparison when using oil. The moisture stays in as well especially low porosity type 4 hair... Back to grease it is, the old school way...
I lol'd so laugh at this comment because I felt that!! Lol...At one point, I used to be able to do those 2day natural styles. Now, I don't have time or patience to even sit down for braids.

Quick question regarding the liquid in LLG. What other types of liquids would you suggest as a substitute? Would, say, a curling mousse be sufficient, or a curl primer?
Guys can someone PLEASE explain what to do if you’re NOT natural but want this moisture? AKA I straighten my hair once a week and ONLY deep condition the day before I’m going to straighten, but it feels like as soon as I wash it all out, the moisture is gone. I’d love to have super moisturized hair without damaging it by straightening over oil or weighing it down. Lots of love ❤️
It’s almost impossible to do this method on straightened hair because it will cause it to revert back to its natural state. I wear my hair straight/flat-ironed as well. However, about every 4-5 wks; I’ll wash it and do this method. It turns out curly/wavy. Also, gives hair a break from the heating appliances.
What are some other products we can use for the “Liquid” portion of the LLC method if we don’t have the foam or can’t find it? I think some people mentioned pink oil, is that a good substitute?
VBBlogs 81 hey👋🏽. There are great alternatives such as pink lotion for the leave-in part. Other than that other products are pretty accessible thank goodness lol.
Hi LL, I am so loving the LLG method. I think that plain water for hydration isn't working for my hair. I love BlueMagic Supergro grease for smoothness, styling and sealing. Your plaits/braids look so juicy, hydrated and pretty. Stay Blessed 🙏 and healthy. Oh and I just subbed.👍😊
I did say the name. I stated “the first product I will be using for the liquid is the TEXTURE MY WAY STYLING FOAM”. I’ve even stated the products I have used in the description box, in the order that I have used them. I don’t think it could be made any clearer. 🤷🏽♀️
Hi Lauren, Love your videos, they always brighten my day :) Do you use a sulphate or non-sulphate shampoo when using grease. I want to incorporate it into my routine but I’m afraid of build up 😬
LanaChDG you can try bentonite clay that seems to clean the hair really well. Also if you don’t use too much grease I find that some of my sulfate free shampoos that on regular hair feel a little stripping or not moisturizing will get it out. You probably just need to do 2 washes. Hope this helped
Yes, beauticians had us to get away from our roots. That's why a lot of blacks hair has been damaged and falls out. I am so tried of blacks calling plates, braids. Damn the natural hair community scared everyone away from grease. Glad to see blue magic is making a comeback!!!!
Me too. It's crazy how fear can make people comply to do anything.

Not only is too much heat bad for your natural hair, but it will also cause your hair products to melt & drip, leaving your hair lack'n moisture...
Honestly, air-dry'n for at least 1 day is best in my experience with this!

Quick question regarding the liquid in LLG. What other types of liquids would you suggest as a substitute? Would, say, a curling mousse be sufficient, or a curl primer?
Definitely, as long as it has enough moisture and is water based.

Wow! Thank for the tip! 😊
