    If you are in need of an upgrade in low light video performance this drone has proven to be better than the Air 2s.
    If you mainly use your drone for photography there is not a major need to upgrade.

    One thing that infuriates me is when the Air 3 came out, they are biased in their opinion and review. The Air 2S and many others (Air 2, Mini 3 Pro) has almost every feature the Air 3 has but they rebrand it as “new” and “improved”, the Air 2S has a variety of important features that are intentionally being left out to make the Air 3 look better.
    This might just be my opinion but id say the omni-directional sensors are just a gimmick. As an example; you are tracking a moving object and you parallel to the object while positioned a little behind and beside it, the Air 2S can just fly forward while panning the gimbal 80° towards the object, the Air 3 is forced to fly sideways because of is embarrassing 5° gimbal pan. Then they rebrand it as “safer flying”. I noticed almost all of the “new” features on the Air 3 are mostly compensated with other features that fix the same problem. Also the Air 2S can fly 7mph faster than the Air 3 before the sensors disable because the Air 3’s sensors are the same as the Mini 3 Pro sensors. There are many more examples of this if you do a little more digging in their stats. The Air 2S and the Air 3 are like the Iphone 14 and Iphone 14 Pro, almost the same features but rebranded as “better”.

      thanks for your comments canman! I won't be picking up the air 3 personally but I've been recently surprised to learn that you get better video noise performance with the air 3 due to it's stacked sensor, the other new features are great just not worth upgrading for me personally!

    This sensor is smaller but completely different for a small sensor. It’s a stacked sensor and I’ve seen comparisons between the the two drones. Have you checked out the images to compare yourself???

      send a link I would love to see them side by side, it is a smaller sensor but I do know that the minimum aperture is f1.7 instead of the air 2s f2.8 so that could help a little with noise performance!

      This point will be lost on people who think that the sensor size in the Air 2S alone makes it better. Though there is value in telling people you have a bigger sensor. I've been flying air 2S for two years with great results. I'm going do much better with Air 3 using two prime focal lengths and the increased light sensitivity, better than Air 2S. Sensor technology has improved over the past two years. We know what sensors such as in the iPhone 14 and Pixel mobile cameras can do, along with color science.

      @@VisionCommunications Your guy is the first really good review I watched about new drone and you should listen it more carefully. He's the first one the admit that for photography, Air 2S raw files kill it (except for night photography). Talking about sensors - shiny new Air 3 uses sensor from the Xiaomi 10 Ultra from 2020, so sensor technology really has improved in past two years, but this guy is not using it. It's more than 3 year old flagship sensor. Air 2s meanwhile uses sensor from the freakin Sony RX100 VII, the "real" camera that still costs the price of Air 3 fly more combo (without RC2). Can't beat physics unfortunately. Take the 10 years old sony a6000, and it's APS-C standard CMOS sensor will blow out of water both of these even it is ancient. Cheers

      @@VisionCommunicationsThe issue is, DJI shortchanged buyers by basically reusing the Mini 3 Pro camera which is also 1/1:3” stacked, 12mp, f1.7. All DJI did was combine the Mini 3P camera with the Mavic 3 Pro 3x, 12mp, f2.8, 1/1:3” sensor with a 70mm or 3x equivalent. I’ll wait for the upgrade where DJI will bring back the 20mp, 1” backlit or stacked sensor, and hopefully a f1.7-f5 variable aperture.

    I'm thinking it doesn''t have the 1inch sensor becasue the Air 2 didn't. This is why i'm confused that the Air 3 is being compared to the 2S and not the Air2? It seems like everyone has forgot about the Air 2. So was the 2s a one off or can we expect a 3S?

    I think a hands on review or even get some footage to compare would be better than going by specs alone, the air 3 sensors are smaller but they are stacked, the sensor is actually closer in performance to the mavic 3 in low light conditions and the difference between the mini 3 is day and night.

    • @MattyDCCollins
      @MattyDCCollins  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a fair point, I can't wait to see a good side by side low light review of the two. While I think it's great that the smaller sensors are stacked and they are innovating that way, I would have still loved to see them stick with the 1" and improve upon that existing sensor because I've been loving it in the air 2s!

As an Air 2S owner, I think I will wait until the next drone then an upgrade will provide itself. @@BlairAir the RC Pro and the DJI RC have only been out a little over a year. Kind of dumb to sell these remotes for such a high price when they just become trash. I have over $1,500 in two remotes now that lasted for a few drones for barely over a year.

    • @BlairAir
      @BlairAir 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @flightriot3454 absolutely agree. Then again it's not Autel 3 different transmission systems just on Evo 2 Pro. I bought it and the huge, 2000 nit V2 7.9" cobtroller. 6 months it's extinct, V3 transmission on same controller..for the Lite+ a fantastic 5.4K camera and actually gets 38.x minutes of 40 claimed. But NO smart controller even after promising the SE for over a year. Every aircraft they sell is in a Silo with a single controller no interoperability between ANY of them. They finally got a great range/penetration tri band system, after abandoning a half DOZEN aircraft models over 3 years. Great hardware especially aircraft design but literally everything else is a hot mess. Support is wonderful one case, next you can't even get a reply. 4 MONTHS to hear back, not shitting you. That doesn't excuse DJI, just saying there's worse out there. If DJI can't predict what's coming next and offer high value trade-ins they will lose customers... not sure where to though since everyone else is worse! DJI has done this since Lightbridge. I just annoy aftersales support until they take care of me, and they do. But it takes a lot of patience, time and effort. O3/O3+ will be supported for a long time to come - its the interoperability matrix that will hurt your head. And wallet.

    Original Dobo and Quickass Tutorials have side by sides. Its superior to Air 2s as far as noise, color science and overall image. Its a Mavic 3 Pro alternative, not Air 2S. The only area Air 2S has any lingering value is in photos which it does really well. As for Panoramas the Air 3 is an order of magnitude better. Flight times, adjustable sharpness and Noise Reduction. A backlit stacked sensor with dual native ISO and better lens. The proof is in IQ for which it excels. Stsgnating? They improved every single function of the Air 2S except for panning the gimbal. 10 M/S Ascend speeds us better than Mavic 3 series, and Inspire 3. This is an agile, long flying high image quality machine in my opinion.

    You fail to mention the NEW TECHNOLOGY in the smaller sensor. Every youtuber who has one and has actually tested it is reporting better images from the "smaller" sensor. And low-light conditions, the Air 2s has WAY MORE noise than the Air 3 because of it's much smaller
    aperture. 2.8 vs 1.7. I'll take the "smaller" sensor, better images and twice the real world flight time any day of the week. No way DJI going to backslide in image quality. She will sell

    I don't think it's a great idea to put in ND filters in the drone, that adds mechanical complexity its easier to put in variable aperture lens / camera combination so you have more control over exposure. Btw I own the Air 2S and I see the Air 3 not really as an upgrade, I am with you on that. They should have released a singel lens camera with micro 4/3 Photography edition for folks who don't care about video as much.
