well, we know how Flus was hired, it came straight from the top, the McCaskey-Bears and Polian-Colts connection, which dates back to the 18th century.
Warren is at least offering the possibility of accountability. Poles isn't being pushed out. He's still GM. He's just going to be held accountable for his decisions.
Pat and Courtney are the BEST! Informative and Entertaining. Pat could get anyone talking. He makes guests feel comfortable and he knows how to keep it flowing. Too many hosts HAVE to be the mouthpiece but Pat throws enough out there and the guests just go for it. And I'm an old geezer and listen to them as much as possible the last two years! Thank you.

My takeaway from the press conference: Most of the pressers we saw were Poles and Flus, so Poles was the boss. This one was Warren and Poles, so Poles wasn't the boss. That's the difference.

Knowing that Warren said no to Poles hiring Harbaugh says a lot about Warren to me.

Warren & Poles know they HAVE TO get this right. Whether they do or not remains to be seen, but they KNOW the urgency.
For far too long the Bears current way of doing things has only resulted in exasperated sighs.
Therefore if it takes a shake up in how things get done, go for it! May as well give it a shot.
Ryan Poles is a really good GM. Kevin Warren is a really good team President. There are some really good caniddates that Chicago can hire for their head coaching job. I heard Bill Belicheck talk negatively about Caleb Williams. I am not sure if Belicheck wants the Chicago head coaching job. The are some good guys that are currently working for NFL teams in some capacity right now. There are also some good coaches currently working for colleges in some capacity right now. I am hopeful that the Bears can find the right guy to be the head coach. Thomas Brown is getting an audition. I believe Thomas Brown understands a head coaching job in the NFL is serious business. Thomas Brown do youur best work. As a Bears fan I want my Bears to compete every time they take the field. In the words of the immortal Dick Butkus "when you are on the football field always be aggressive." Bear Down!

What has Kevin Warren even done? He's not a real football guy. He should worry about building a new stadium and leave coaching searches and player personnel searches to Poles. Poles has drafted pretty well and made good moves way better than Ryan Pace. Warren is an administrator not a football guy. Ryan Poles has not had the chance to pick his own head coach. He was forced into Eberflus, he had a choice of basically two guys, originally four but two were not interested. Safe hires is the Bear way because the McCheapies dont want to pay the big money for top coaches or they would have went after Jim Harbaugh last year.
Poles has been very mediocre and maybe even bad. Warren should have fired him.
I wouldn't worry or get worked up about Warren being in charge. I think that this is another example of the media's incompetence. That press conference was a classic corporate meeting/presentation where Ryan likely wrote Warren's talking points. Warren dominated the time to appear like he was in charge and as soon as the meeting is over he told Poles to basically handle it but he sure to Cc him on emails to keep him in the loop.
I've never seen such a large group of people completely misreading what they saw. The tell was that Warren had nothing to say other than cliches.
Supposedly harbaugh doesn't like Warren from his time in the big 10. That's just mustard on a shit sandwich because in addition the mccheapies don't won't a type a personality guy wielding power so it was never going to happen.

What have you done to question what Kevin Warren has done? Do you have colleagues currently in the NFL, BigTen, and SEC because I do yet I don't question what these men have done to earn their spot? re: Poles and "loyalty" to Flus. Right or wrong, the argument for keeping the HC for 2024 wasn't was pretty strong last off season. Erberflus signed up for a two-year roster teardown, and the team finished strong in 2023. Turns out it was the wrong decision, but that's hindsight. Keeping Flus last winter was defensible. Keeping him after Detroit wasn't. You take the hit and move on. But the concerning issue now is that Poles wanted to fire Flus weeks ago, and was prevented by some combo of Warren/The McCaskeys. I spent more than a decade working for a family-owned company that was run by rich, lazy, meddling, overly impressed-with-themselves heirs. We accomplished some good/great things despite the bad ownership, but the cost of those achievements was that sometimes people like me had to stand up and basically lie about the dysfunction that kept hamstringing our efforts. One of the things I took from the reporting on the Flus firing struck me as familiar: Apparently after Poles got Warren and George McCaskey on board, there was another delay in the firing because George wanted to tell Virginia. The woman is 101 years old, for crying out loud! There's no dysfunction like family dysfunction, and while it can be overcome/bypassed/mitigated, there's always a price. But you'll never hear the hired hands describe the embarassing details in public, because they'd be crazy to blow up their careers by telling the unvarnished truth.

Is Ryan Poles a good GM though? Are we sure? I'm not saying he's a bad GM. But are we sure he's good yet? He's made some really good moves and some really bad ones. Even if everything else were good, you gotta hire the right HC. I don't think we can call him good, even by the most generous interpretation, even ignoring other mistakes, until we see who the next HC is.
The HC was interviewed and mostly selected before the GM. Poles tore down the team and completely restructured the cap in 2 years as well as drafting the one of one and negotiating the best trade deal with Carolina possibly of all time as well as giving Fields some grace and input to choose his next team. Davis, claypool (who fans were screaming for as far as Fields deserves a WR stud ) are

My biggest fear at this point is that the organization will fail Williams identically and as miserably as they did Justin Fields. The complete lack of the teaching these young men how to transition from college to NFL level play is appalling and reckless. We’re fortunate he hasn’t been injured.

The football side of the business needs to report to someone, as does the non-football operations for a NFL team. It took forever, but by making Warren CEO, the McCaskey’s finally admitted that they were failing (including Ted Phillips) and took a swing at getting someone that could function like a true CEO. No organization in the world succeeds without a competent CEO level leader. Is Warren competent? Only time will tell. To say it is weird to have a CEO running things at the top level is a recipe for continued failure. The Board hires the CEO, the CEO reports to the Board. The Board should approve HC or GM hires and pay packages, but not be involved in running the search or making the offer. The Board stays out of day-to-day ops and provides support and guidance for the CEO. You do not want a GM to be functioning as a NFL CEO.
Lol if he goes 5-0 or 4-1 there's no question he's the guy they should hire and will hire. Like if that's what he does with a demoralized team on short notice with a crummy O-Line, imagine what he'll do with 3 more top picks, a ton of cap space, and an 0-0 record

Poles doesn't have much to show for his first two years. It's his own fault. He has been delusional about this team. The expectations were wildly oversold. Poles hasn't followed through on anything he promised at the beginning of his tenure. Build long-term through the draft he said. Instead we've seen reactive personnel moves that drained draft capital and left us with almost nothing except the blingy #1 QB. The team is weak across the board. Poles should be on thin ice.
