The Oshawa Generals are one of the most well know junior hockey teams in the country, and at one point had to play their home games in Toronto. #ohl #oshawagenerals #teamhistory #offseason
Hi Mike, what side of the fence do you fall on as far as counting the original 1937-53 Generals as a separate franchise from the resurrected current franchise? Do you combine the stats and championships, or keep them separate? Keep up the great work, loving the team history series.
I consider it to be the same franchise since they were in hiatus. If they relocated to another community and adopted a new name during that time I would probably view them as two separate teams, like the St. Mike's Majors when they came back in the 90's.
The Gennies are part of the culture of this city. If Rocco moves on down the road to Pickering, he would be a fool. The fan base wouldn't follow and the Pickering market wont support them. Rocco wants the whole building, and he wants the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame gone. If you have been to the Tribute Centre, you would know it is of the best arenas in all of junior hockey. Oh and Bobby Orr billetted here once his first year of junior was done. His mother wanted him home until he was 16.
As someone who’s born in Oshawa in 90 and played hockey here my whole life. I’m a huge Generals fan! Loved the Civic and the Bobby Orr lounge lol, had a few hockey banquets there! Still a fan of the generals bruins and the leafs we got a lot of history here is the shwa!
