I'm a guy and I was in an abusive relationship with another guy. It was a mixture of mental and physical abuse. 2 years back I finally took my stand and left. Now I can breathe freely.
YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR STAND FOR YOURSELF. You're precious soul not a punching bag.

@@amoy5657 watch the video. That's what abusers do. They draw you in, they act like they love you and when the cracks start to show they blame you. And then they punish you before making you feel it is all your fault. When you say enough is enough and try to stand up to them they swear it'll never happen again. Maybe they mean it, maybe they don't - who knows? But if it happened once it'll probably happen again.
A lot of abusive partners are very good at hiding their behaviour and are good at manipulating people. Sad fact is you probably can't avoid it - abusers behave like everyone else, until they don't that is. If someone raises their hand to you just leave and don't look back. That's how you avoid this.
I've worked in healthcare a long time and fortunately it's not too often I've had a domestic abuse case. But when we do have a case it breaks my heart, the victim always blames themselves for their partner's actions, its just awful. Most are convinced things will change which is sad, but worse is when they're so used to it they believe its normal and acceptable - its never acceptable. Whilst you can't tell who will turn out abusive before they become abusive, the moment they do the victim needs to get out of that situation - if you're injured get to an ED, if you're not get to a friend's, family member's or go to the police. Don't stay, and again, don't go back.

To the people saying leave, I wish it were that easy. If it was, I wouldn't have lived through 9 months of hell. Abusers often progressively brainwash their partners, slowly feeding them information and making them dependent, making them believe the abuser is never to blame. This is demonstrated amazingly through Dom making excuses and staying with Isaac after he got physically abused, because he had already been emotionally abused and felt he couldn't leave. By the time physical abuse happens, the person being abused is often too brainwashed to just leave. The show did brilliantly to display the emotions involved behind the scenes and between the person being abused and their friends and family - denial, blindly defending their abusive partner, cutting off anyone who tries to help because it's impossible to accept the truth when being told something else constantly by your abuser, until an extreme event like Dom's serious injuries causes clarity and the person finally realises how bad what is being done to them is.

The sad thing is that the abuser never think they are wrong. I was in an abusive relationship for 2 years. Everytime it gets physical, the only justification he gave is that he didn't mean it that he love me. He apologized all over again. And for the longest time I thought his issues was only alcoholism. After 2 broken ribs i don't think that's the only his issues. I knew I should walk away. But I just couldn't. Our relationship ended because he found someone new. this video really hits home for me sadly, outsiders always say just run, if only it was that easy, fear will keep you from running. it's a horrible part of life unfortunately some unworthy people must go thru because there to nice or just to passive to say no, that's why the stronger of us must stand up and defend the weaker ones. no one deserves to be abused for any reason, they don't ask for it to happen to them. usually it's a moment of desperation to feel human contact from anyone. It is human nature to feel the need to have some kind of human interaction to give us a purpose to continue our journey thru life.

Thirty years later I still bear the handprints on my upper arms. Sometimes I still flinch. It's not easy getting out. It's not easy to stay. I've worked on most of the inner scars left from that time in my life. The memories don't haunt me like they used to. I've had healthy relationships since. I'm grateful.

That's what you think, it's not always that easy. My mother had been abused through childhood, so when it happened with her first husband who had taken her away from that abusive home she took it. Almost as if it was an obligation because he "saved" her. She eventually left, but because of certain circumstances he got the kids. The abuse at least emotional did not stop even after divorce, he took off with the kids and it took decades to find them again. For some it is just a continuation of a cycle they started at birth, so why fight it.

    • @anggitaputri3123
      @anggitaputri3123 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JellyBabie1984 he said 'the very first time'. Its much easier to leave when you notice abuse so early.
Its more difficult to walk out when you let him/her abuse you over and over.
I think one should make a boundary like in a relationship if the partner hit him/her then its finished. Many people tolerate this for love but its just getting worse and the longer it goes the more unlikely to break up.

This is the first I've seen of this storyline of Dominic being a victim of an abuser. It looks good but I'm glad I did not watch this from the beginning of their relationship to Dominic reporting him after being beaten. Too emotional for me and I would have been screaming at the monitor while watching this.  Obviously, this is a subject the show felt needed to be addressed. My advice, the first time you get a half of an idea/suspicion your partner may become violent with you, end that relationship faster than you can say your own name. Then talk to the police about him/her but keep in mind the police can't do anything because no physical harm has happened and they have to react to an action, not be proactive. After you’ve talked to the police and gotten their advice, tell this partner so they know the police has their name, number, and know where they live and work if anything happens to you. This should be guarantee you need to make certain they will not bother you anymore when you end the relationship. One of the absolute worse things a victim of an abuser can do is stay silent about what's happening. Keeping you silent is part of their control. Say hell no to that shit. If someone is threatening you or causing you physical or emotional harm, let the world know about it. Silence is your enemy.

      There are several options:
You can have your partner legally evicted by having him or her served with an eviction order.
The only thing is that it will cost you money to have him or her served.
And it would be best that you stay with family or friends until he or she leaves.
Other option is to have a family member scare them into moving out. My nephew did that and the next day, my boyfriend moved out.
And that was a year ago.
