Will Power Vs Surrender: Wisdom of Autobiography of a Yogi

I just finished reading Michael Singer's book, "The Surrender Experiment." It's a wonderful and inspiring story. But it made me think about the use of the term "surrender." Michael by no means implies passivity of any kind and Yogananda (his guru) certainly emphasized will power in accordance with the temperament of our times.
