I genuinely don’t know what I would do if this show ended. Between top gear and grand tour I could/have re watched the series so many times . best trio hands down , keep it up lads !
@@deadrickellis879 yes, not just the 3 of them but much of the crew went with them too when they left TG. Just shows how much fun it is to work with these guys! I'd sure live to follow them around on an adventure!
May getting that boat through that sea was pretty impressive. Felt bad for Richard too his boat looked super lite it had to feel like a bobber a lot of motion but hardly an progress. That looked brutal.
Agreed absolutely one of my favorite specials. I don't watch the blokes for the cars, I watch them for them. In this case throwing them out of their comfort zones and into something so interesting was a great show.
As someone who has been doing coastal rowing for almost two years, I can tell you, the fear of capsizing due to strong waves is very accurate here. It doesn't matter if you know how to swim, once there are strong winds and big waves, you must be careful not to lose your cool. Not only that, you typically cannot move and must remain still like a statue. I remember a few months ago, my boat nearly capsized.
Can we just appreciate how much the grand tour team has been through, from the Argentinian onslaught in Patagonia, to the death road in Bolivia and now the sheer terror of the rough open ocean, they are probably one of the bravest film crews in television
I get so wickedly sea sick that watching this scene made my mouth water. I once got seas sick sitting on a boat that was still in dock. I love the ocean, the ocean hates me
The ocean doesn't hate anyone or love anyone. It's indifferent to you, regardless of your background, ethnicity, sexuality... anything. The ocean is a part of mother nature. It doesn't matter whether you're a door to door salesman or Jeff Bezos... everyone will return to mother nature whether they like it or not in the end. And that's just part of why i find it so amazing
That camera crew doesn't get enough credit for what they do.... That could have turned into a massive rescue mission in 1 second in seas like that. 😲😣 Thank You GT cameramen and crew.... Seriously, I appreciate that you risked your lives to film that and stuff but it's a little unnecessary. 😅
i have crossed that stretch of water in similar weather conditions but in the ferry from SaiGon to Vung Tau and the crew passed out safety belts and paper bags.
It's these moments where they genuinely are worried about each other's safety that make some of the best moments of Top Gear or Grand Tour. The three of them really are friends and will look out for each other, in spite of the bickering and pranks.
Especially with Hammond saying it was the most dangerous thing he's ever done. That's a man who's had two major high-profile accidents, and therefore nothing to sneeze at.
Problem for those two planing boats was they were not going fast enough , they were half on , half off the plane which is the worst situation when it’s lumpy like that , if they had increased speed things would have been a lot better .
You could tell how stressy and demanding that last run through the sea was. How the heck did James' boat stay in one piece in a place that has sank large cargo ships and tankers?
Someone should have warned them that was not the Irish Sea that sits cozily between Ireland and the British Isles, or the North Sea sheltered by the British Isles, Scandinavia and mainland Europe they were sailing into. That was the South China Sea; a sea about as brutal as the Pacific ocean it belongs to.
On God I hate the South China Sea. I spent most of my deployments in the navy in that area, and even in an aircraft carrier you can feel it. Those little boats had no business in that sea and they're lucky to be alive
Was anyone else genuinely worried there for a sec? 😨
Yup
No because we have the footage so knew all the time they would arrive.
Only May with his nutshell 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I was genuinely worried there for a moment or two.
Yes

I think it's cool how they stick together

@Fazekay; it's on Amazon Prime

Especially brutal considering Hammond hates the water 🌊 th-cam.com/users/shortsGiqvThZb0gQ
He was too slow for those waves
Tho richard his boat is made for these kind of seas if im correct
If Clarkson says he’s been really worried about May, you know it was rough.
May? Captain slow😂😂😂
Yeah, that actually sounded genuine
Seamen is got a be one of my favourite gt specials cuz it was something different than the 3 of them doing cars
Agreed. A lot of people hate it…but I return to it 1-2 times a year.
@@rceric1 same I love rewatching this one

In Argentina and Bolivia was still Top Gear, not The Grand Tour
@@lorenzoborgo2500 I know but the Grand Tour and Top Gear used the same film crew

Still the best trio in tv
This has to be the most intensive scene ever in this show
I’m assuming they had another boat following just in case??? This is actually so dangerous lol
I know this was a dangerous and serious thing.. but I couldn’t stop laughing when Jeremy’s seat broke 😂
I am not sure if these guys know their limits but they keep trying to find them. Great adventures as always.

1:07 Whoa, is that the Medal of Honor: European Assault soundtrack? Mad respect.
genuinley my favourite special, this and mongolia. soooo good
Sailing with the fenders on 😂😂😂 well done Hammond 😊
You guys are the best love watching yall stay safe and dry my friends
I was so happy james made it across alive in that old boat
Looked brutal would have loved to be there on the high seas. 😅
Love the Grant Tour these guys should still be doing Top Gear
I held my breath during this whole thing when first watching it.... 😨😨

The best episode ever !
Wow that was intense 😱😱
Really enjoyed watching the boats rocking in the sea. Makes me want to go fishing.

Especially with Hammond saying it was the most dangerous thing he's ever done. That's a man who's had two major high-profile accidents, and therefore nothing to sneeze at.
Captain Mayyyyy what a legend
This had me crying with laughter 😂😂
Beautifull scenes, congratulations my friend 👍
This is the most dangerous thing these three have ever done, it's genuinely a miracle all three and the camera boat made it. God damn this was stupid
Hammond was the only one in an OFF-SHORE powerboat. Actually designed to go on the ocean. Yet he lost to a RIVER boat...
He was going far too slowly for that hull to really work.
@@matthewsmcdill Exactly.
Love these dudes.

😱😱😱😱😱
Jeremy Clarkson said the F word!!!
Hammond is cruising with fenders out.. 😅
The Jizzle Drizzle performed brilliantly on the open water.
Was it too powerfull for Clarkson, he did take off some of the throttle 😂
They guys cant be beat even Mr Slowly lol
Hammond at 2:49😂
"I just pissed myself standing up where I was" 😂
I really enjoyed this special
What was your favourite moment from it? th-cam.com/users/shortstO5muBKGyt0
2:48 😩🤣What!!!??!!!
The music at 1:25 is from one of the Medal of Honor games
Inexperienced skippers on small boats in open water, what could go wrong? Bad weather and cargo ships? I'll light a candle for you.
good job the mother boat was following them all
4:35 “Hardest thing I had ever done”
*Bolivian death road*
Been on three motorboats in rough seas it’s a life and death struggle towards the finishing line.😨
4:03 how did his seat broke?
why would you laugh at that?
Problem for those two planing boats was they were not going fast enough , they were half on , half off the plane which is the worst situation when it’s lumpy like that , if they had increased speed things would have been a lot better .
Just what I thought. Done for the cameras. No denying it was tough but c'mon... basic powerboat training teaches you about planing.
Definitely a bad trip if the best thing you can say is "We have survived".
after you've survived, it becomes the best trip of all time. ask them today
Yesssssssss......
Too bad the film crew didnt make it
Isa The best one adventure!
Bring them Back!
There’s one more to go
You could tell how stressy and demanding that last run through the sea was. How the heck did James' boat stay in one piece in a place that has sank large cargo ships and tankers?
Meanwhile Willman was laughing his arse off in his luxury yacht at them.
Wilman goes with them on these journeys
This is one of those moments that went from fun to tense to nerve wracking in minutes.
Amazing TV but don't ever do this again you three.
The Chaps were in some very rough waters.
You missed the best part:
„And on that terrible disappointment… for Top Gear, it’s back to the tent“.
I wonder if the guys kept their boats after this? May could NOT have made a worse choice! lol
You know it's serious when Jeremy Clarkson takes a knee to help James May.
In the traditional Top Gear fahsion: we left James behind
And the sea is not even rough.... 🙂
lol this show is awesome
These middle aged, beer drinking chain smokers are tougher than the toughest person I know.
We want more. Why dif you end the show
Truly epic
I loved the part where They Never got Lost, even though the title says They Get Lost at Sea!!!!!
lost at sea usually means Dead-
I'm worried about the European special not coming out before Christmas.
so if the camera crew were not there who was doing all the filming at the end?
"It would be the last funny moment of the day" Not for us. 😁
I remember screaming at them to turn around, Jeremy's steel hull would be fine but the other two were pushing their luck too much
It was a fiberglass hull.
And what happened to the camera crew's boat? 🤔🤔
😂 it was funny but get me on a small thumper over the sea. No!
I follow your travels like so many other people
You know how bad it was in the way that don’t bother to have their usual banter making fun of each other.
Ngl this looks kinda fun.
-Coming from someone who experienced waves twice the size of those.

Some say the film crew is still out there...
what where they thinking off?
guys,,, you have to ride with the waves, not ram against them... small sailers tip!
nah, never worried. if I can see it you guys are ok
An Epicsode
Ah, Vung Tau. Brother spent an interesting time in 1968.
Does anybody know if the film crew made it back?
There's one film crew boat in the background but they probably had three for any of them, right?
The fab three
Which season and episode is this?
This is from The Grand Tour Presents: Seamen, in Season 4 Episode 1.
Lucky they survived that ! Bad decision !
Clarkson and Hammond were doing ok... better if they actually increased their speed so their boats hulls could have done what they were made to do
Hammond ......!!!!!!
2:45 & 4:02 xD
