I think what this really shows is that we really need to do a better job at telling the player what to do and offer better player feedback so that the player can understand goals and objectives and have the knowledge to complete their goal. We also are releasing two patches within the next few hours that increase optimization. Performance is high on our priority list and we are working on this now, though I believe this will be an ongoing thing that we will prioritize. Town .City Certain objects give you certain items. There is a guide on Steam to show you things such as what trees drop what etc. One of them provides sticks. One thing I think that is good to point out is even though trying to survive as long as possible is an option it's not the main goal, your main goal is to escape the islands which just means surviving until you figure out how to escape while learning the story behind what is going on.

We could have everything handed to us but then there's really no survival to it, I already feel coconuts are too common as it is, but this is obviously just my opinion. Game has a bit to go, but compared to some releases this isn't half bad and it's price is quite a bargain. I'd say hop onto their suggestions thread in the community hub and throw that suggestion out there, they seem to be responding to almost everything they can when they're online. I'm actually quite impressed they came here to comment even with him not enjoying it, handled it pretty good actually.

ConorChaos Agreed. Most of them never even get finished. The devs will sometimes even purposely continue to do minor updates instead of actually finish the game.

Just a resource collecting simulator where you take so much time to gather crap, build crap, expect to survive from crap, and better be careful in multiplayer, because hackers will hack and that makes things, crap.
Most of these people wouldn't be able to produce a runnable game if it wasn't for easy to use game engines like Unity or even Game Maker. You can barely call the game devs. They're just some guy who has Unity installed. If you know what RPG Maker is, what we're looking at is basically some guy uploading his 2nd or 3rd attempt at a game on the RPG Maker forums. Except instead of releasing it to the public with no price tag so they can share their small, sub-par creation, they're selling it for $10.

These animations are hilarious. The tree-strangling is pretty excellent, but nothing made me laugh harder than that injured walk cycle. From about 13:20 I was laughing constantly until the end of the video. Look at that walk cycle. Fucking look at it.
You need a bottle for the water pump & a knive for the leafs! The keys unlock the houses! Killer Wolfs!! continously shake trees for sticks and food to drop, hooray!
That dude has got one hell of a badonkadonk. Also, my god that swimming animation. If someone attempted to swing their legs and arms like that they would be at the bottom of the sea in seconds.
I see some... potential? A little bit maybe? If it were done by a completely different person. And maybe used different models. And a different engine too. Changing the name as well. Basically, if everything about it changed it would be pretty good.
One thing I find interesting about all these assy early access games is that the character always has the inability to grapple on to anything when jumping at it. They can't make it over a two foot rock because none of the asset cobblers can code the ability to climb into the game.

I might suggest to check out "This War of Mine" which I think could be considered a 'survival' type of game, and for me one of the best ones I've played within the last couple of years. But yeah, a lot of the 'survival' type of games do tend to just dump you off in the middle of nowhere, though if done well can still be a good game (such as a game like "The Long Dark").
"Don't Starve" kind of drops you in the middle of nowhere, but it's finished, (unlike every other survival game) it's fun, and it has a lovely aesthetic. "Realistic" wilderness survival games are all boring.
1:06 - Oh god, those first swings with the camera is the first time a game and/or video has genuinely made me feel nauseous.. I could sadly only listen to the rest of the video, because I literally couldn't watch it without wanting to evacuate the contents of my stomach. (Steak and Bearnaise if you're wondering.)
Playing Lost in Blue should be a prerequisite for anyone making one of these survival games. That game was great. All these games on Steam suck. The main difference is that Lost in Blue gave you goals. It wasn't just wander around, collect junk, craft stuff, get bored, uninstall. You were actually stranded on an island and over the course of the game got closer and closer to escaping the island. It's pretty much the only example of a survival game done right I can think of.
You should do a top 10 worst Greenlight games that you've covered this year. I think it would be an even better way to avoid them clogging up the worst games of the year than just avoiding them (although alot of these games have similar if not the same problems as many others)
Well trying to decided whether or not to buy this now on Fanatical for $1.93 with some other cheap games I want .... It will be 10% cheaper but I am beginning to think by the talk of the controls it sounds like Resident Evil games but worse in terms of movement so I think it will be a no.
