And I thought I had a lot of irons in the fire... Fun video. Looking forward to seeing how the Western's turn out. Impressive pocket dump. I have a Gerber Strongarm that I picked up on the recommendation of some of the kids that were sent to bring democracy to ... bad tangent... anyway, they like that knife. I can see how it would be effective for their needs over there. It's a brute. Not very knifey to me, I think a splitting maul would do a better job cubing up spuds. I've got another friend who EDC's a pocket sharpener and swears by it. I'm more of a "New York reload" sort of a dude - when my primary is done, I pull out a secondary... When I have needed to field sharpen my knife it usually meant I have a good problem - we have filled our tags and are helping out our pards that have filled theirs. I do know by experience that a Buck 110 will last at least an Elk and 1/2 (quartering), probably more if you keep the cross grain gritty hide cuts to a minimum. June-uary has been nice here. Not many days over 70, higher than average rain. Looks like that may be changing.

I like it because it’s a great well rounded fixed blade.
It doesn’t do any one thing great. But it does everything well!
I agree on the Buck 110! We took down 4 does and a Buck on a man drive one late December day.
I field dressed , skinned and quartered 3 of the does and the Buck with my 110! It was getting really dull at the end but I finished up the last little bit with my old 73 Sodbuster!

Just found your channel, great stuff and I’m subbed! A little tip, I lived in ky when I had my knife business, never a problem with sanding belts. I been in Florida for about 20 years and I have to keep my belts in the house, I learnt the hard way, lost huge $ when every one started separating at the seam. Called the manufacturer to see if I could send them back to get re-seamed, nope, so I have a lifetimes worth of new cut up belts! Living in the tropics 😓🥵
That sinks! The belts are not at all cheap!

I had the full size SD40 but gave it to my son.
Now he wants to trade it back to me for the 10mm.

I would love to stay cool! Problem is that even the AC in the house was running continuously so I had to put it on 75 so it could shut off and rest a few times per day.

@@Hunting4Hookers owe yeah i know what you mean bud. Ours has been doing that all week since we got that dang heat wave up here. It's not supposed to be in the mid 90's up here lol. This old fart has a very hard time with heat lol. Give me low 70's or cooler and i am a happy camper lol.

Love your videos . A while back going through your past videos …. I think somewhere you said you took a sos/Brillo pad and after soaking a knife in a hot water Dawn bath, you just went to town on the blades, back springs etc. and it comes out perfect. Was this in one of your previous videos ? I tried it on a terrible rusted and scared up Case small cigar Jack knife (ppatern #55) and it came out beautifully. If it was indeed you that suggested this method, I want to thank you immensely. Keep on keeping on you are most entertaining.
Yes, it sure was ! That’s my go too most of the time.
When I’m wanting to take a knife that needs tons of work , I go a little further with 0000 steal wool , never dull etc.

I am going to have to check out the bear and son I love the sweet on those handles. Steven not to mention the best name makes and incredible looking slip. Too many projects wow 😂 it would drive me crazy to finish all of them. Too much goodness for one video. Great looking case fix blade but really interested in seeing the process on the western handle. I have a belt sander like the bigger one and a 2 burner forge but buying removal stuff is easier 😂 God bless buddy
