I actually brought this car and its fantastic. I paid 20k for it and I think it was a bargain, I've previously had Mercedes E63s which cost me 68k and I actually prefer the M5. I change my car as often as my socks but I might actually keep this one for longer than 6 months for once!
Great to hear from you and glad you're enjoying the car. Couldn't have bought it off a better person, Uvis is meticulous and the M5 should do you well!
I've been wanting to try a modern M car for ages, and this F10 M5 was no disappointment. Beyond the usual M refinements, the fireworks generated from that torquey turbo V8 was incredible and made for an entertaining experience in itself. The fact that the 550BHP S63 connects to such a great chassis is the cherry on top. On a cold rainy day like that, I simply didn't want to get out of it - the interior ambience and refined cabin makes for an incredible place to pass the time. It's probably a bit big for my needs, but those in the market for a full size saloon should look no further...
I bought my F10 M5 6 months ago, with just quality motor oil and a mid pipe im at the power level of the current F90 M5 if not a bit quicker since I beat a 2020 E63S AMG. Crazy this car was way ahead of its time, and competes with todays cars for half the price.
Picking up my F10 M5 in two weeks and i can not wait. Ive aleays dreampt of owning an m5. I truly is the perfect all around vehicle. Plus ill have a little stage 2 tune one top of it 😎
your description of steering feel is so thorough and helpful. ive been convincing myself on this car for a while. It will be a total shock coming from a Z3 but Im excited.
@@p00pie Thanks so much for your kind words! Turns out the F10 M5 actually has hydraulic steering however our comments RE the feel and feedback remain the same.
Good review. I’ve had mine for 8yrs and probably will just keep it.Great car fantastic all rounder. By the way, it has a fully hydraulic steering set up where the pressure in the system is varied depending on speed and what setting has been chosen (servotronic). The pressure in the system is adjusted through electronic modules but that isn’t an electronically assisted setup, which uses motors. Having said all of that, the steering feel still isn’t that great!
The problem with videos like these is that no one seems to go into the care required to keep it going and the common problems (of which this engine has every single common BMW problem from rod bearings, valve seals, coolant leaks, complex cooling system... water cooled DME's...oil leaks, turbo failures... probably the only things that aren't a huge problem are the injectors themselves - however the hpfp seal is a common failure problem). If you are patient, mechanically inclined, have the tools and diag equipment (and attention to detail) - awesome cars. First thing to make sure of before buying one is to make sure they have had the TU updates done and upto date on TSB's/recalls.
i went from that jag in my pfp to a 2016 f10 m5 C and i will say its a world of difference. I have driven a lot of crazy and exotic cars and the M5 is one of the most fun. Its a big comfy daily car with a lot of power and amazing handling. I do wish I could have gotten something as nutty as the CLS63, but when you drive that car you don't have as much confidence to toss it around. the M5 you feel confident throwing it around.
Thanks for the kind words. The M brand is broadly defined IMO and is more about the drive than the way that drive is delivered! The F10 M5 is a true M car
I’m strongly considering pulling the trigger on one this week I’m caught between f10 or the e90 , I know it 2 completely different cars but you can’t beat the M5 bang for your buck power output
Tough choice! The F10 is extremely refined compared to the E90 and has a muscular feel that any M3 will struggle to match, but the E90 is so engaging. We have a gorgeous 30 Jahre edition F10 M5 coming up for sale - stay tuned!
My F10 M5 Competition has been garaged for 4 yrs with 10,000 miles on a CTEK however last week on start up it idled at 4,000 rpm and when selecting drive it shot up to the red line (8,000) it has over 86 faults from the OBD2. I'm seriously considering a diet of Semtex and fertiliser..
It is the personal plate of Uvis, the proprietor of Ultimate Velocity. You may recognise him from the BMW scene, his business is very popular among M car owners.
I have both cars with increased power (e39 and f10 in M) and they are so different and at the same time so similar... The Steering system is hydraulic;-)
Currently have a mint 435 gc ,amazing car but for some reason i havent quite taken to it ,maybe its because mine is rental spec. Alpine white with all black interior, no hud , no harmon kardon etc maybe im nitpicking . What i really really want is an f10 m5!!!
Nice review. My only disagreement is on the suspension. It has a very unsettled up and down feeling. Not harsh but it’s not comfortable being bounced while you’re driving. Compare that to the suspension of the e92 M3 and there is no comparison. Comfortable, tight and settled. Probably the best M suspension ever for a street driven car.
Best car to hit high speeds fast then bring down close to speed limit… police never see it happen. I can’t believe they went to the torque converter auto trans on the new g series
I wouldn't say if it's really that perfect the BMW F10 M5 is great because every 50,000 km I have to replace the entire bottom of the engine, connecting rods and bearing😢s, not to mention the turbines.

I’m same as you 😂. Change them all the time but can’t see myself getting rid of the f10
20K??? UK prices are so cheap it's insane

Totally agree. The F10 provides a crazy amount of performance for its price point, as does the F82 M4
My guy Ifti once again smashed it. I really like this car. ❤

Thank you for the correction RE the steering. Yes the feel is not great, but doesn't detract from the experience tbh
Love my m5! Been 6 months and I haven't driven it with the Traction off. Below 70mph, 5k rpm above, it will wag its tail
I bought some falken stores, and lowered it on coil overs it rarely wags now, basically fixed that issue completely
Hows been reliability?

6:16 the f10 m5 actually has hydraulic steering. its the normal 5 series that has the electric one
Thank you for the correction!
Brilliant review, 1st one of yours I've ever seen, made me really want to buy an M5, my last BMW was a 1986 M535i🤣
Love the M535i! You would definitely enjoy an F10 M5 by the sounds of it

Agree. The M5 has a duality of character that is hard to find elsewhere.
Beautiful M5! The complete package! Love your review and the Frozen Blue beauty!
Thank you!
It’s a Montecarlo blue
Great video! So cool to see someone objectively reviewing a car without creating all kinds of imaginary criteria that a "proper M car" needs to have.
Thanks for the kind words. The M brand is broadly defined IMO and is more about the drive than the way that drive is delivered! The F10 M5 is a true M car
E39 owner here. The E39 engine pulls hard from idle to 7k. Not at all like the V10.
Great video! I have owned two of these f10 m5s and you have summed the car up well.
Awesome review Mr G! What a machine. Always wanted one of these...
I have the last of 2016, Monte carlo Blue, with very low miles, which I reluctantly want to sell. Let me know if you're keen.

Thank you!
Wow. Very good in depth review. Nice man

I would love try one. They seem exceptionally rare in the UK!

is that blue colour on the car a wrap? looks different to stock blue m5s ive seen. if it is a wrap it looks awseome, whats the name of it too?
It is a factory BMW colour called Frozen Blue. The Frozen range of colours was supplied on the 1 of 30 M Performance edition cars such as this.

The Servotronic steering IS hydraulic!
Our mistake! It does lack feel for a hydraulic system however.
