I think what you’re all forgetting is uncle Si’s senior trip was in Vietnam. While most of us was celebrating getting out of high school and anticipating going to college, uncle Si was in the middle of hell getting shot at and shooting people just to stay alive. I think I’ve got this perspective because that’s what happened to my father. Because of that I have more respect for him than anybody I know. Don’t forget what uncle Si did for us it is way beyond giving us a better duck call.
Amen! My papa Hawkins los 2 brothers in Nam and was sent home with a purple heart. He watched his brother uncle archie get sawed in half. God bless everyone who was in that war fighting for the USA. When papa spoke you shut up and listen like with uncle Si cause you know it is important.

I highly respect & want to thank all of our veteran's along with all of the men & women who are currently serving in our armed forces. One thing that highly upsets me is the lack of respect & gratitude that is shown to those who served our country in the Vietnam War, these Heroes deserve more respect & recognition for their true bravery. Regardless of whether people support this war or not, these Veteran's stepped up and fought as Americans just as much as every other Veteran in any War that our armed forces have. They stepped up & served our Country, yet people overlook their bravery, sacrifices, heroic acts, and that they truly stepped up and selflessly served for our Country. I personally would like to say that I'm sorry that Vietnam Vet's don't get the respect that you deserve and I want to Thank You for serving our Country and I hope you know that you are Heroes.
As Americans we need to change the lack of respect & gratitude for those who have served our Country during the Vietnam War (I'm not saying that none us recognize these Veteran's), however we all need to strive to show these Vet's that they are every bit as important & respected every bit as much as every other Veteran or those currently serving in our Armed Forces.

I know right. On those few episodes where they brought up his past service you could see he was having a flashback at times. And what really sickens me is how we treat our veterans now and back then. Especially those who served in Vietnam. I don’t really like saying thank you for your service because I feel it’s been so overused and disingenuous but for all those who fought in Nam, welcome home and I wish we threw y’all a parade for coming home because god knows you got treated like crap back then.

Uncle Si talking about when his dad told him that he wasn’t giving the same attention to each child because of their specific needs at the time was some really good parenting advice. Si has some really amazing stories and thoughts, would love to see him on the podcast more

Si is "UNIQUE"! A one of kind individual! As long as his heart is in the right place, he does no harm to anyone, and he is a Christian, then he is PERFECT! I had a similar problem to his when I was going to school, only opposite. My big brother had a bad reputation as a fighter, trouble maker, argued with the teachers, you name, he did it. So when I started school, even though I was shy and quiet, no matter what it was, they would blame me and say "you are just like your brother!" I almost got swats for things I never did. My Dad had to finally go to the school and straighten out everyone. I hated school! My big brother is gone now, and he changed as he got older. He was saved and was a good man before he passed.

I was in West Monroe for work one day. This big lifted truck pull out in front of me. I had to hit the breaks fast or I was going to T-bone it. I look up at the driver it's Uncle Si and he sitting there picking his nose looking at me like it's my fault lol. Had a good laugh on the phone with my boss that day.

I’m with Si on college. Unless you want to be a doctor. My husband got 2 degrees in 3 years and was on the Dean’s list, went into his chosen field and made the same $ an hour that kids straight out of high school made. Now, a decade later he’s had 10 jobs in his field in 10 years, moving “up” each time and only making $4 more an hour than a decade ago...
A piece of paper most call a highschool diploma GED or other degree from a college just states your another willing and able slave to work in the system, ive done more things using my head and no highschool diploma or college degree that people that had those things and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to fix not get the job done until ive come along and done them correctly most are the simplest things, for example one of our cities gas stations had a bit of a flooding problem it would often back up all the way to the pumps the city spent who knows how much money putting in a drainage system but they never fixed the main problem the drainage area was being clogged by grass and dirt that had grown in this area preventing the water from flowing out instead of backing up to the pumps that is until i saw it and dealt with the problem nobody asked me to do it and i did it all with my hands i got the water to rush out the lady in the gas station saw me and came out and said i did something someone with a college degree couldn't even figure out how to do i said maybe thats why i dont have one of those.
I reckon' that sounds bout' right, what we need as a nation of individuals under God, is to Go back to the beginning, go back to God and to Jesus and live life naturally, Godly and purely, to put each individual person's individual and natural born talents to light cause' every life truly does matter, nobody is the same and we as people need to get beyond stereotypes and groupin' folks together, cause' the only thing we all share in common is our one and only, most high, almighty God, the Great Spirit and his only begotten son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, a piece of paper means absolutely nothin', no high school diploma nor any other school degree one could acquire defines any one person in the least bit, I reckon' school degrees are quite literally an exaggerated excuse to kill trees and pin people against each other with labels and groups

@@joeyjohnson4826 You may have a point and be right. What is my observation not saying its a fact. Its like you have a child that is insecure and likes or needs attention or validation all the time. He may not be intending to be harmful or mean spirited. What you are seeing and sharing can be valid. The first issue to your point I'm having is him thinking he is funny and he is not because he was never given the tools to learn how to filter himself. He is not speaking and talking privately he is on the air and other people are listening. You know we all don't grow up in the same households and everyone has rules rearing for children differently. Insulting people or making fun of others is normal to them. We have seen that it has done damage to many people. No matter that they say it doesn't bother them or they try to ignore its a bad habit that needs to be broken or do it among yourself privately. The second issue to your point is he is that dude. He may have been that dude when he was an adolescence or a teenager. You reach the age of adulthood and a man at some point maturity and sensitivity has to kick in. We don't think we can go around at any age saying what we want to anyone work, etc. We shouldn't take advantage or use the people close to you as a scapegoat for insults. Its not fair or kind to them. Im sure the Lord would be pleased that we let our words be seasoned with salt. We all make mistakes including me and fall short but we have to correct our shortcomings and faults to do better. God gave us the gift of repentance and forgiveness so my comment was done not to condemn or offend. It was done that the joking would end and mend and amend to choosing our words wisely. People are listening and watching.

I’m sure there’s a blend of mental illness and just being fed up with 7 kids. I have four and definitely feel like I’ve been close to “crazy” we even say it “these kids are driving me crazy!”. Especially if you don’t have a completely loving and supportive spouse.
I got married when I was 22. We've been married for almost 12 years. We had our first child a year before we got married and because of that, we never had time to just be the two of us, which made everything a lot harder. Honestly, the only reason we've made it this far is because we're both stubbornly committed to not getting a divorce. I've realized that the ultimate secret to making a marriage last is just refusing to accept the alternative.

Si is somewhat right about some folks having too much education. The local community college has many students who already have 4 and 6 year degrees in such things as psychology, philosophy, and political science. They had to get new skills and training to become employable.

i had a buddy named billy trant who told me stories about si robertson in vietnam they both was together he told me about him over 30 years ago ask uncly si if knows a billy trant better known as billy T he was a boxer back in the 60s and got drafted for vietnam but he is dead now but when i first seen si i was like what the hell that is the one billy t told me so much about he was from holmes county fl city of bonifay
