Good video, just few notes:
- regarding the reputation gained on rookie server, reputation is just safety rating, so you don't need to place well. Just drive safe, avoid incidents, reputation will increase to allow you to join other servers, even if you're slow
- the weekly "endurance" race is 60m DTM this week, but usually it's 90m+, longest was 144 minutes of Spa so far. The class is changing every week, we had GT3, DTM2020, Group C, DTM1992, WTCR etc.
- detailed stats of ranking, including the trends for rep/rank and details of each race can be found in the personal profile on the raceroom website/in the game

that's right. i'm not very fast at all, but because i have reasonably good awareness my rep is going up. i was in that 2.4hrs of Spa... tough race, many DNFs in the low ranked server.
@@EhPlusSimRacing Yeah, it was great race. I was dodging a backmarker who spun in front of me on the very last lap, hit a wall and lost 3 places:-D. I was 5th, fighting for 4th entering the final straight, and screwed everything a minute before the end. Very dramatic finish.:-D

During lockdown I've bought AC, Ams2 and raceroom. They are all amazing in own ways but I think raceroom wins for me. I've owned it for 1 day and just spent £45 and now own 5 times the contents I did on iracikng
The perfect theme for RR is the "one more lap" simulator. There's just something about the sounds and physics that pull you in. I have never played iracing but from game footage, it seems so stale compared to the feelings I get playing RR
I just call it "Swedish iRacing".
I love raceroom. What I notice is that the player base is quite low. Mainly because you have a lot of cars / tracks. So if you want a open wheeler you will find some races with 3 or 4 people. I really hope that we have more people or that acc have a similar system
I'll be honest the main reason I pay for iRacing is to listen to people shout abuse down the microphone, a feature I wish all sims had !

@@ggNotSuree I like it a lot.. specially the ffb and sounds... go and try.. you can download it on steam... it's free (it comes with 4 or 5 tracks and some cars.. to get more, you have to buy stuff)

@@ggNotSuree for me ACC is a pain in VR, always tweaking the settings, AMS2 and Raceroom run the best in VR for me and look great too
Westy, good video on RRE and I've been playing it a lot lately. But, like you stated, for us Americans we have to race at odd hours to get into ranked servers with people in them. I really believe they are on the right track with ranked system and hopefully they continue to expand it to more races and the platform will grow. It is a very good break from the toxic iRacing. - Brian
Always forget about this sim, might have to give it a go as I refuse to give iRacing any more money. Need some competitive open wheel racing back in my life.
Give it a go more people that get into it the better it will get and we can all give up our expensive iracing habit 💰
You will certainly enjoy it. Some official competitions are even free to play, and in rare case, free to own the content too
This is so much cheaper than iRacing. The graphics look good from the video. Love the comment about enjoying the racing so much the wife leaves you.
I joined last week and really don't know why I even bothered with iRacing for so long. It's about as well organized as iRacing but with a proper physics model.
The only thing I'm missing are fast regular series like LMP, DRM, F1. But that's what I have SRS for, so it's fine.
Thanks for the video. I've been meaning to try out RaceRoom for some time but currently can't due to money and time. I do a good amount of SRS racing on AC and the ranked stuff on RaceRoom seems to implement a lot of the things I like about SRS, such as organised races on the hour and more specific events once a week. This allows people to pick and choose the events they want to do, at times that suit on a day by day or week by week basis, without making them feel like they have to sign up to something like a private league where they can't miss a single event. I think every sim needs something like that to help bring people in and then maintain the player base over the coming years. Its one of the reasons I haven't put too much time into rF2, I'd like to try it out more but I don't really have a good reason or the motivation to. I think they have intentions of adding some sort of ranked multiplayer system though, same with AMS2. Hopefully its not too far into the future.
This December, there is also a daily server which switches combos each day and includes some unlikely or fan favourite combinations called 'Ranked Winter Special' :)
Ranked Racing is actually superb in terms of Racing. You always get good fights.
I like Raceroom a lot and have gotten a lot of good races. However, it's mostly Europeans. That works for me as if I get on early enough after work (I'm on the US east coast) I find some people to race with but it you wait too much longer it gets pretty empty. Weekends are good though. Would probably hence be harder for people on the West coast of US to find as many filled races in the evenings. Seems to be gaining in popularity though so I'm hopeful. I love iRacing and am on it most days but really do like some things about Raceroom more. Very fun. I agree about the handling aspects. Sometime iRacing well deserves it's "ice-rating" nickname requiring you to treat it like a "lady' as Nikki Thim once said. Raceroom in that way is more fun. You can still spin out and pay for craziness but don't get penalized by the physics for small mistakes.

I've logged 62 hours in RaceRoom over the years but I've never been able to find the multiplayer component. Every time I've looked, it's always been lap time competitions. I guess I'll have to look again.

I love RR3 But In the ranked You can have someone spin out in front or you when you have no where to go or get pitted from behind and the points still stack against you. Other then that I am one of the US drives who has to play between 8am to 3pm to get people playing.. Like I said I do love it
Definitely need to give ranked another try - R3E is one of my favourite sims, and nowhere does Touring Car racing quite as well as this sim.
Though be warned, Rookie servers are still gonna be Rookie Servers - both of the races I tried ended up with me in the gravel trap after a sizeable punt.
I got Premium on Black Friday for around 60 euros and it's one of the best buys since ages! Really fantastic!

True to the most part... extra cup of tea for that! I would also differentiate through the different cars WITHIN a specific Sim (actually would be worth a video...winkwinknotchnotch). For example: A skip barber car is far more predictable and understandable to drive in iRacing compared to their GT3 cars (they are the main reason it is called iceracing!), I assume that the tire model/parameters are just ways ahead on the Skip. Same goes for open wheeler cars in AC versus everything else in AC. Or a last example: rfactor2 911 GT3 car with overexagerrated wrong weight on braking versus otherwise very well done GT3's.
Another aspect: there are sims that simulate forces on the wheel you would not actually have in the real car, but are (or can be) extremely helpful to understand the cars behaviour, like weight on the wheel when braking, lateral g-forces or understeer effects. R3E even has a specific section in the ffb settings menu for that which has a nice touch so the user can decide if he wants to use these effects or not and to what extent! This sets apart titles like R3E, rfactor2 or AMS2 (they do it) from ACC and iRacing (they don't). Not sure what AC does though, at least they have a setting for "enhanced understeer" effect.

Same sort of thing as SRS I dont think they will change the UI , you can use WEBHUD for ingame UI if you want.

Yeah my channel now are also filled with raceroom contents since about 4 months ago..while I have rF2, PC2, assetto corsa, ACC in my library 😅
Ill give it a try👍 I only recently got into Iracing so before i start spending alot i may aswell see which sim i prefer. Tbh though im not to bothed about spending it's more about which has the better VR driving exp for me.
Raceroom has become my most driven sim lately. IRacing is up there with it, but it has just horrendous loading times, so casual practising and lapping is a no go with iR. Raceroom loads in seconds and I’m on the track. And I have to say the ”joy of driving” is strong in this one. Maybe the strongest of them all. ACC FBB isn’t up the par even though on paper it should be clearly the best of the best. And the free competitions!! It’s so amazing to just jump in with a car they’re offering and trying a new one out.
Go to 120 damping and also amplify ffb in race.
@@mark_lhr3 Thanks. Will try that. Driven a bit more of ACC lately and trying to get used to the ffb, playing around with the setting in TM panel and ACC. It’s getting a bit better with time too. It certainly is a beautiful (and resource demanding, can’t seem to get fps over 50 at race starts... Len Y540 i7 and 2060 rtx mobile) sim!
Why I can't see the mentioned hourly and half hourly ranked races? It is quite empty for me if I click to show 'Only Ranked' !
I really enjoy RRE and i think its quite in the shadow of simulators.. i should start to put some more hours on it.
I'm set with ACC at the moment, I think the online racing is mostly fair as well, sure some frustrating things happen, but still way more fair than any other online game i ever played, sim racers should experience games like CS or Dota, if they really want to experience toxic environments :) I have R3E installed and tried it out a bit, but ACC is so much easier to get into. Is it a net benefit to drive multiple sims or is switching between them regularly hard? When going from AC to ACC i had to adjust my driving quite alot.

I haven't actually been able to map my Fanatec DD1 wheel yet. Any tips? I'm using Porsche Podium wheel.
When in doubt, go Porsche. True dat. Raceroom is a pleasure, but as a single screen racer, I just can’t get the fov to feel good in this one. Don’t know what it is what it does different but by all the calc’s I’ve tried, it just doesn’t seem to set up as it should.. hmpf

In that video beside mentioning strange pchisics in iRacing (which goes for r3e) You haven't clearly said much in what r3e lacks against the other title. And yet in the end there's this pro=iricing... ;)

I like Raceroom for the AI. It's as good as humans, sometimes better. No waiting for a session, just drive and you'll get a good race.

Tbh i try R3 again a little while ago and tbh i found it absolutely horrible. The driving is fine, soound is fantastic and all. But the menus are utterly horrible and while i don't mind F2P games that have a fremium option and other content to buy, i felt this game just shouted "gimme money" at me at every opportunity. Hell, i even struggled to get out of the in-game store.
That and the fact that a lot of the content, specially cars, are just outdated and car classes have very limited field sizes and often are blown up a bit by fantasy creations. I think that are just some of the reasons as to why it has such a low population. AC (with CM) and ACC are infinetly easier to just jump into.
Now if R3 would talk to Kunos and get R3's multiplayer and ranking into ACC. Then we have something rather fabulous.
My problem with RaceRoom was that the VR picture was grainy. I couldn't get past that. Have you experienced the same thing?
Is it? I recently joined Iracing and was shocked how clear VR was through Oculus Link I probably wont bother trying raceroom then if it's grainy as ill always VR it.
@@honeybadger9425 I just installed and am using VR. Looks great and very easy to use in VR. Menus work well, world scale looks good, etc. as good as iracing VR for me.

ACC still does GT3 and GT4 better and I’m assuming those are the most populated of the ranked servers
Even the non-GT3 lobbies fire with 15-20 people at Euro peak hours.

I like raceroom a lot but it's such a pain setting triples up to use it then swapping back for iracing. I'm wondering if there's an easier way to set the resolution in the software without having to using nvidia surround ?

Agreed game and handling is indeed much better than Iracing. But Road feel from ffb is really lacking.
There are also some amazing leagues to join one that is super high quality and clean racing is RRL Leauges they do some amazing league racing at a high level but welcome everyone they are also branching out into acc

Okay, after a couple races, I am loving this sim. Runs smooth as butter, FFB feels great on my TMX. I used reshade to inject some MXAO, dont thing the game has AO and it makes the game pop. Thanks master shill :)

No problem at all with CSL Elite wheel base and pedals.
As a follow up, connecting my Fanatec pedals directly to my PC via USB and assigning the controls fixed the problem.

I've got the TMX and qualify for pro races, no problem.
Why wouldn't you? A fancier wheel won't make you faster. One of the fastest guys I know uses a T150.

wouldn't know what raceroom feels considering i have a g29 and it doesnt connect to raceroom properly it cant connect properly so i am still saying iracing is the best until they fix it
But you only have road course racing. Iracing have dirt and asphalt road and oval.

I completely dumped iracing and moved to full raceroom. i enjoy the tracks, the cars the graphics and the racers are decent.
iRacing should change its name to iSliding because all you do is slide in that game. I’m new to Race Room but it’s so much more fun to play than iSliding that it’s not even funny.

@@malikmartin ACC seems to have a lot of stuff going on. SRS is launching ACC races very soon too. There's some new platforms around too.
@@izzieb ACC has 1 or 2 competition races I can't catch. I've been in a league or 2 and those are great, but sometimes I just want to pick the game up at any given hour and race. SRS used to do that for AC, but I don't know what happened.

So a stupid question... I have allmost everything in raceroom. Had since launch of the game/sim.. But never really raced it.. But it so cheap so i cant help it. Buying racepoints at 35%off then buy cars/tracks at 50 %off. So its a steal.. Tho i raced it a bit with controllers.. Before i got wheel it was Forza and raceroom. Anyway. Question.. I allways race in vr, pimax. When i start raceroom from steam i can choose to start the game in 64bit vr. I do that. But the game dont starts. It only start when i pick regular monitor start. But that is no fun.. How tha frack do i get my vr to work. That what i like about iracing. Its easy for stupid Vikings like me. It just work... Pls my hero. Help!

I'm not sure why it would not load in vr properly maybe you can force it to load in vr with -VR in the steam properties launch option ? Best place to ask is r3E forums.

3:12 Nah you can buy straight away and it gives you the vrp discount. If you add anything into your cart, it will give you the price as if you buy them with vrp. Don't need to buy the vrp for some cheap discounts. It already applied to you.
Unless they changed it very recently, buying through steam wallet is more expensive than buying vrp first.

@@bookle5829 I don't have a way to check, but I doubt the discount similar to separate vRP purchase is applied. Especially since it's not a static discount, you get different discounts for different vRP packs. And when I was buying the premium pack couple of months ago, buying it through vRP was definitely substantially cheaper than the listed price in normal currency.
Maybe you're confusing it with the discount you're getting for already owned items from packs you're purchasing?

Edit: Also those extra contents are pretty spicy. Especially the Audi R8 GT2. I'll see if I can buy it without having to buy the vrp.
