It's serialized, a super rare surge foil or bust. 90% of the boxes I've seen opened get less than half back in cards. This set is for the gamblers that can afford the gamblers premium. Get used to it you will start seeing more of this I'd say at least a set like this a year maybe more who knows. This set is paying off big time for wotc and you can rest assured they ain't gonna make this a one time thing. They days of buying draft packs and pulling the most expensive card in a set are long gone. The only thing I've really seen payoff out of this set are the pre-release kits they go for 30-40 on ebay all have the one ring scene card. Off the bat there's half your money back

Thanks for the video! If I can make a suggestion - the prices flash so quickly on the left that if I am trying to look at the card you are showing by the time I look over the price has already disappeared. Maybe consider leaving the last price up on the screen until the next one shows. I had to go rewind a few times to see some values.

Can’t wait for the One Ring to be cracked so these boxes will go to 280-300 and they will actually be decent value for the money. Until then you pay 200$ premium for the lottery ticket to win 2M, but that’s really a bad ticket to buy given the abysmal chances.

People are willing this time to pay these prices because thats how massive the fanbase is for LOTR . U dont even have to buy any sealed product off this set you can just buy sum cheap singles that are amazing.

Hi Paul, you mentioned around the 3 minute mark about the value of the set being low, does this hold for Sealed boxes? Do you think the pricing would hold or fall over time?
Hey there! The value has definitely increased since we made that vid - at this current time I'd still be cautious however, because another entire reprint of the set is coming in November. It will have different art, so there are variables we don't know about that will affect pricing. So I can't say for sure, but I know people love the set making it pretty strong in my mind as a long term hold. I just don't know if it's still too soon to buy in or not.

this is fun to watch for now, you guys are my favorite pack crackers! but these cards are so good looking and the hype so big that the set boosters looks like crap by comparison and why print the same old same old basic lands at all when everyone could get nice full art flavor lands for the same printing cost - why make uglier versions of cards that don't affect game play.

Cant see spending more than $300 for a collector of this. Just no value there. Would rather buy reserve list than this. The set isn't that good and I can't understand why people are going crazy over serialized sol rings? Just not that good a serialized card.

Funny to see how much the prices drop in the American market before the European market.
Mostly its the other way around but due to Americans being rather gamble heavy people without brains and them opening boxes that have an ev of less than 180$ reflects so well on the American mindset. ( I know you guys are Canadian but I dont think the problem originates there)
It does also sort of trigger me you'd ride the wave on this product whilst you have the data proving you its not a good chance to take for your customers.
Of course everyone is responsible for what they do or buy but sometimes you just have to draw a line out of principle and to not raise a precedent to show wotc this is a success story and to raise awareness this inflated bs is actually wotc 2nd massive mistake in less than 7 months.
I ofc normally love the content and your guys video style but these boxes make me fucking hate to see 350$+ being thrown away on average.

It is important to note this is collector's boxes which is the gambling for the chase, otherwise set and singles is the way to go if you are just getting cards.

Even if you count the value of all 3 boxes, it's still around a $500 loss. But I'm all about buying the singles from the CE boxes, they are hitting lows and still have some more room to drop, I feel like a kid in a candy shop over on TCGplayer. Playable LotR reskinned copy of Deserted Temple for $3.50? Yes please!!! Etc., etc. The dumps are real!
