Repeat: Big money is shared with a small number of CONNECTED boxers-promoters-managers! For example Zhilei Zhang is not a man from the street, but an Olympic fighter. It would never have been known about him if he had not accepted the fight with Hrgovich, who was rejected by 12 fighters. There is NO sport where the vast majority of fighters, 99% earn Nothing, and only 1% reap the cream of the crop. This destroys motivation because boxing is the hardest sport in the world. The goal is the human brain and KO! Oladipo is telling the truth!
Simon only ever speaks from the position of a libertarian capitalist. He never thinks about the working classes or the people that are taken advantage of by hegemonic companies and monopolists. It’s actually getting really boring listening to him speak about financial issues because he always defends the monopolists and elites that take advantage of people with no leverage.
Why should fighters who generate nothing be paid big money. And where would you suggest that money come from if they did!? I wish they could all be paid big money but it's really simple economics and the reality of life & business, sadly.

Simon is 100% right in this case. If you want a union to fight for your interests you have to pay them. If the promoters are footing the bills then that union will have a conflict of interest every time they try to resolve issues between boxers and promoters.

@@Thunderfist_McBeefcake What does it mean to do something like there is no chance? How to generate money related to UK and USA? The US makes up 3.5% of the world's population. UK 7 - 0.7%. It is important that there is faster competition from top to bottom, as in all other sports, and the fight of the really best, and not that it is a matter of agreement and that boxers, fake stars, have 1 fight in 2 years and hold the highest position while the potentials fighters wait and fail because like any sport, time works against the athlete. A minimum of 4 fights a year and fighting the best with the best (the fans know), and a very good selection down, those coming.

Maybe some of the boxers weekly/monthly gym subs go to a bank regulated pension pot, low/medium risk Portfolio Cautious Fund. How to protect all that money collected is another story when dealing with the boxing world.

Terry Lawles and Mickey Duff were notorious, as well as many, many more and forever more. Most should be so thankful when you look back at what the likes of Alan Minter, Tony Sibson, Terry Downes, the Finnegan brothers were getting in the 70's. Thankfully there is and still a decent living to be made within it.

Boxing is an individual sport where only a small percentage can make great money from it, the same as golf and tennis. Only the elite will make it. The same as every other profession out there. Boxing in all areas is based off the revenue of a show, and the small ones will not make enough to pay boxers so it’s just based on their own ticket sales and maybe the promoter might give them a 100 or so…. The mid ones are okay for the promoters but the boxers don’t make enough and have full time jobs still, and ultimately the best ones of those get fed to the bigger shows as cannon fodder for their star attractions. The big shows are making millions in revenue because they’re on TV with sponsorship deals, ad revenue and have thousands of people in attendance where tickets are hundreds, if not thousands of pounds, and then PPV shows have all of that, and then the PPV revenue as well. Just because you can be given the title of a professional sportsman doesn’t mean it’s always a living or a job. It’s a sport. You’re lucky if you’re good enough to make a living out of it and not have to find work in the traditional way.

Boxing needs a universal governing body. Not unionisation. boxers can afford high lawyer/legal fees, the average union member cant.
Not all fighters deserve money. You get what you are worth, just like in all walks of life. There are people in all forms of work who earn because they are worth it.

This is why I love the UFC model. The money is focused around the card not the main event. The main event is everything in boxing and the card only happens if they allow it to. UFC atleast every year your getting cards with fighters at all levels.

Dana has constantly invested in cards/infrastructure etc. as long as they earn a decent living and I get to see good cards that’s fine…. Being an athlete doesn’t mean you’re automatically a millionaire.
@@perryx7103 UFC fighters get paid around 14% of the revenue of the UFC...that's the lowest in most high profile sports. It's frankly pitiful. Dana can happily gamble $100k and lose it without a care in the world...then offer a fighter $12k to fight
