My dark family secret: my mother lied to my dad about getting pregnant so they would get married. Two weeks before the wedding she tells him she got her period. They get pregnant with me on the honeymoon. Not wanting to be a mom so young, she did copious amounts of coke to try to miscarry. I was born 6 weeks early and have never had a good/healthy relationship with her.

My family used to go to reunions as this gorgeous old stone bridge with a waterfall. During one of these reunions my grandfather called me my brother and cousin over and pointed at one of the biggest oldest trees and asked do you see the rope scars on that branch up there. I didn't but my brother and cousin both said yes and since they both had better eyesight I took there word for it. He then told us the story of how his father and his friends had hung a man from that branch. Evidentially this was back in the day when child abuse was a nasty family secret instead of a crime and the man had been raping his 3 year old daughter. The mom asked one of the men for help so they took care of it and his body hung there for a few days before anyone cut it down kind of a warning that the men in that area protected their own.

Please make this into a series!? This was my favorite video so far. I have a family secret that you could use. My name is Rebecca. I've always known that I was named after my father's sister but unfortunately she passed a way when my dad was a teenager. He never would talk about her or what happened. It was very strange growing up and not knowing anything about her. My dad has four brothers so I reached out to one of them for answers. My aunt was wild, she partied alot and as she reached her 20's she started a relationship with a Mexican cocaine dealer. He'd always beat her up and one day it went too far. He killed her and then himself. My uncle told me that he won't talk about it because I look identical to her. Same hight, build, red hair, we fell down the same path of addiction. My dad has always supported me and has helped me reach long term recovery. My uncle said he couldn't save her and that's why he's tried so hard for me.

I'm keeping the secret that my mom was abusive to me. I've told anyone who I need to. But I will not tell my mom's parents or her extended family.
Also, I don't know if this is kept secret from my family, but apparently I'm the second kid my mom had. She had a miscarriage before me, which is probably a reason why she went a bit mental. I found this out when I was 15 years old. I find it strange that I've always wanted an older sibling since I was really little.😵

I grew up thinking my mother was my sister too. My grandmother even had sealed official documents about her and the date of release keeps changing so I can't find out what the evil mare did. More skeletons in my family than a bone yard
I found out that I had an ancestor of mine committed suicide and I didn't know until I read his story on a family tree app

The same situation happened to me with my dad I've literally just met him a few years ago and I 30. Its horrible growing up without a father but I had an amazing mum she was the parent and helped me with everything in life my heart goes out to all these people on this list .
I have a father but my relationship is so crappy that I haven't talked to him in so long, I can't count. He and my mom divorced when I was only four and he comes in to visit but he doesn't love me. He and I both know it.
This happened almost a month ago I think. I don't know the exact details, but I think you can find more information about it online.
There was this guy in Ruinerwold, The Netherlands who had locked his family (with 9 kids) away in a basement on a farm for like 9 years, and they were part of a cult. The father probably abused his children and sexually abused the oldest girls.

My family secret is that my mom had two miscarriages before having my older sister so she was super protective of her and spoiled her. When I came along my older sister was jealous that I was getting so much attention and my mom caught her trying to suffocate me once. Obviously she was still a young child and didn't understand the consequences of killing someone but still kinda crazy.

Number 7 specifically the mother getting mad at the daughter: that happens A LOT. Mothers get jealous bc normally men will not be as happy with the woman they r with after raping someone. So mothers get jealous of their daughters bc their husband or father is no longer happy with the mother. It happened to my family
A few years before my grandfather died he told my dad that while he was stationed in Millington, Tn when he was in the Navy in the early 1940’s, that he had not one, but TWO children from a relationship that he had with a woman while he was there. My grandmother died and never knew. My dad and I are still the only 2 in the family that know. I wish I had a way to find them.

As far as #1... I found out recently that I have a brother and sister that I knew nothing about. I'm 33. Also when I was 18 I found another brother. All together there is 7 of us that I know of and my Dad had 4 baby Moms.
My aunt is sleeping with my uncles stepson and everyone in my family knows about it.

I also used to know a girl who thought her older sister was really her mom. She was one of my friends a little sister’s friends and they were getting ready to start applying to colleges and she needed her birth certificate and other documents and information and things like that that you need once you start getting into your adult life. Her mom was always like super super super vague and would never give her copies of any of the documents. Really ambiguous And always tried to change the subject when things regarding her as a baby would come up.The family was super religious too so a teenage pregnancy out of wedlock would not have been excepted, nor would a abortion. She looks very much like her older sister and her sister is l16 years older than she. She was definitely convinced. I lost touch with them so I don’t know if she ever found out the truth. That would be such an insane situation to be in.

Then men in my family used and abuse us as we were children.. everyone knew and nothing would done too them i was molested from as far as I can remember!!!! P and to the ladies I just want to say for my upbringing what you just read about it gets better and it's worth it because we have so many more things in our life that can make us happy there's never an easy way out... The best thing you could do is get counceling and pop possibly see a psychologist

OK I watched an actually happened video on TH-cam very similar to number one on this list. She found out her dad had a secret family. He would leave to travel for ‘work’ and go seethe other family. I can’t remember what made her since suspicious but she started digging and she found out that yes he definitely had another family in another part of the country. Not only did he have another family but his daughter in the other family was named the exact same name she was, I guess that made things easier so he wouldn’t accidentally call his daughter the wrong name. But what is even more heartbreaking as if the story could get any worse it turns out the daughter that found out, she and her mom were the ‘other’ family. Her half siblings were Both a few years older than her and the other mom and the dad had been married for like a few years before he even met the narrator’s mom. The Daughter and the mom from the secret family ended up traveling to where the original family lived and just showed up at their house and he got hard-core busted.
No longer a family secret but when I was little my grandma's niece murdered her for drug related reasons. At the time me and my parents lived in the house with her and after the incident I had trouble telling which room was mine and which was my grandma's even though mine was on the top floor near the attic and hers was on the first floor near the kitchen. And apparently when we would go visit the niece she would always call me by grandma's name (Beatrice) until I was "introduced" to her, she has seen me and known me before the incident

Actually I have a similar story to the secret family. My grandpa cheated on my grandma when my dad and his siblings were teens and he had a whole other family who he abandoned and we never met or knew who they were. As far as we know he never talked to them again, but I dont know if I fully believe that.
Sure love is love but you can blame someone for not accepting it especially if they grew up in another time where this was very uncommon
After hearing the first story I actually have a story about my own name. My name is Taylor. I was supposed to be named Chloe but my dad had a change of heart when a close friend of his lost their baby named - you guessed it - Taylor. But the story doesn't stop there. Initially the death was deemed SIDS. But later on this friend went on to recount how he and his wife actually had come to the conclusion to kill their baby. So yes, they killed their baby and are in prison. And now I am a living memorial for a murdered baby. Fun.

I have been the family secret all my life. I am interested and was forced to live a lie and have always suffered. Now that my health is failing I am stuck at home rarely leave and have no one to even talk to. Be you regardless of what may come. Trust me. Regret is worse than death.

I had a secret sister. She was two years younger than me and we went to school together, quickly became best friends because we had so much in common, she developed feelings for me and at that moment in time we were each others dates to home coming, I found out she was my little sister and told her. She hid it from her mom but eventually spilled the beans and her mom flipped out, told her she cannot speak to me ever again and that none of it was true. My mother and older brother caught my dad sleeping with her mom on the couch, had solid evidence but to this day her mom denies it.
This is all two sad &scary for me 😞

My great aunt had a child her husband died so child was brought up by her mother and sister (my grandmother) as another sister. Her birth mother then left to marry someone else. Could never understand how she could just walk away.
Also found out my great grandfather on the other side of family did jail time for fraud 😲.

My mom put up my sister for adoption and never mentioned it to anyone. She hid that secret for 30 years. I was 9 when my sister was born. She was baby #3 out of 4. My mom kept #1,2, and 4. My sister found me on Facebook and then my moms secret was no longer a secret. I had always wanted a sister, but I grew up with all brothers. Needless to say, I was PISSED!

I can relate to #1, My grandpa did that to my grandma, I have an uncle that I just found out was even alive within the past 8 months. zero thanks to my grandparents for the help cuz they both took it to the graves.

My family secret: my grandpa hooked up with some other lady before my grandma and got her pregnant around 4 different times (I'm not sure exactly) then went to my grandma had my mom, moved to some other lady and disappeared for a while. Now he's with a new girl who I consider more of a grandparent then him and had 6 children. I'm not sure how many exact aunt's/uncle's I have but he would beat all the wife's/ children so I hate him more than words can express

My entire family has been hiding their joy about my great grandfather’s death for over 20 years to spare my grandma’s feelings since she loved him so much. My great grandma was essentially forced into marrying him at 17 and forced to quit school and have children, he routinely verbally abused her, cheated on her and basically used her as a servant for almost 50 years. A month after his death she finally got back together with her highschool sweetheart who she had wanted to marry, she kept that a secret for 15+ years too because she knew her daughter would be angry about it (which she was). Needless to say we were all kinda happy he was gone because he couldn’t have cared less about anyone or anything else but his own happiness and basically used everyone as much as he could without so much as a thank you
