Interesting video. I have Netflix but u can spend most of the night flicking through the contents & then watch nothing & go on TH-cam 😅 I still have a big dvd collection & always go back to that. Plus I can stream anything online if I want. But it’s true the cost of living makes me think about cancelling these platforms. Ps 20p for DVDs now that’s a bargain have to go hunting myself 👍🏻

Yeah, I do think when times are hard, Entertainment will be the first to go for most...
I know exactly what you mean about scrolling and not finding anything to watch!

If they ban streaming sharing yes physical media comes back and that will be more bad news for streaming services

I currently only have Criterion Channel and Max. I will likely keep Criterion for a while, Max may go at some point. I will get Amazon Prime only as a limited trial when the new Invincible series is on.

I think that's smart. Use trials / only pay when there are things you want to watch 👍

I don't stream unless Amazon offer me a free month, and saying that, even though they have a vast library, there's very little that sticks out as a must watch. The Disney and Paramount channels have two or three programmes I liked that were on Sky, but I will wait for the DVD's, if that doesn't happen, I will miss out, life's to short to worry about a TV programme or two. I was around when there were just two channels, I remember the opening of BBC 2 and Channel 4. What is that song 5000 channels and nothing on! Less is more in my opinion and so many programmes I have watched, most seem like, haven't I seen that before? Truthfully I get more pleasure from You Tube these days, watching stuff like yours. If it wasn't for the Mrs. I would probably cancel the TV Licence and Sky and just keep Broadband! 🙂 Food for thought as always Luke!

I don't remember two channels but I remember channel 5 launching.
I never had sky TV growing up, so five channels was my limit.
I totally get what you mean though. So much feels the same these days.
I tend to watch more TH-cam than anything else these days too.
Appreciate you stopping by as always 🙏

I was living in Bournemouth when channel 5 opened and unless you had a special aerial or something like that, you couldn't get it. But when I moved back to London for work for a few years, Channel 5 was a normal everyone had channel.

We are at or very near the ooint whwre there is no financial benefit to streaming everything. Since every studio or network is creating their own subscription service you would have to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars a year to subscribe to all the different services ro get the dozen or so pieces of content you actually want. Alternatively you could spend a fraction of thst to buy the blu rays of the dozen or so shows or movies you actually want. And that comes wirh the benefit od being able to watch it over and over for free or to resell it and get money back.
However this is all dependent on people behaving rationally. Which we know they dont. They will continue to convince themeselves streaming is a deal because of all the "content" available. Even though most of it is tradh and they will never watch any of it.

      I 100% agree with this.
Every week I have friends tell me I'm wrong and that Streaming is the best... They just can't see it (yet).
      Hopefully their eyes open soon.
