- "Dark Shadows & Beyond The Jonathan Frid Story", is a feature length documentary about actor Jonathan Frid to be released by MPI Media Group on October 5, 2021. Frid achieved fame as the villain-turned-hero vampire Barnabas Collins on the 1960's television gothic soap opera, "Dark Shadows," a show still viewed today - fifty years after its original run ended. His story is told through his personal letters read by actor Ian Buchanan ("General Hospital", "Twin Peaks") and interviews with family, friends and colleagues including talk show legend, Dick Cavett, Marion Ross ("Happy Days") Anthony Zerbe ("Omega Man", "Harry O"), Christina Pickles ( "St. Elsewhere", "Friends") and David Selby ( "Dark Shadows", Falcon Crest). It is produced and directed by Daytime Emmy Award winning soap opera producer, Mary O'Leary, edited by Michael Giglio and the Executive Producer is Jim Pierson, who was the producer of the 2019 documentary on Dan Curtis "Master of Dark Shadows."

Jonathan FRID ...truly a superior, dramatic & Gifted actor.
Makes me smile anytime I see a picture of him, or anything Dark Shadows really. Just recently bought the entire DVD collection and watched from start to finish; what an epic experience! A lifetime favorite! I really can't wait for this, and will be buying the Blu-ray.
I wish I could afford the entire dvd set.I am getting the movies that were made from the series but wish the series were cheaper but can definitely understand why it cost what it does.I am watching the series on tubi now lol

@@dragonfly9416 I love the series but the movies kinda sucked (pun intended). The movies were a different kettle of fish. I prefer watching the videotaped TV show.
@@moorlock2003 I am watching the series now on Tubi and I have to agree the movies are not near as good because so much is left out.I want the dvd set so bad but probably won't ever get to own them...I hope one day.
Jonathan was everything ideal - he was humble, genuine, Intelligent, well bred. He was not a womanizer, he treated everyone with respect and class. He even dealt with his own challenges with grace. He was one of a kind. A true role model - n that’s what made him truly sexy. He had the right mind n soul, n it paired well with a beguiling n uniquely handsome physical personage.

Wow!! Looking forward to it. I was one of those kids racing home from school for 04:00 to see every show. Currently re-watching the series on Amazon. Mr. Frid and Grayson Hall were great together.
@jay DEMARTINO and we all know that Julia was very much in love with Barnabas but he was blind. She was always there for him and protecting him cuz she luv'd him :)

With “Dark Shadows”, Jonathan Frid cemented his name into television and film history. From 1966-1971, “Dark Shadows” and “House of Dark Shadows” challenged Frank Sinatra’s films “Assault on a Queen” in 1966, “Tony Rome” & “The Naked Runner” in 1967, “Lady In Cement” & “The Detective” in 1968, “Dirty Dingus Magee” in 1970, and his television specials “Sinatra” in 1969 and “Sinatra & Company” in 1971, and challenged Bob Barker’s (future “The Price is Right” host from 1972-2007, 2009, 2013, 2015) “Truth or Consequences” throughout the entire run of “Dark Shadows”

THE THEATERS SHOULD PUT IN THEATERS THE DOUBLE HEADER HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS AND NIGHT OF DARK SHADOWS TOGETHER ON THE BIG SCREEN.
IVE HEARD DAN HAD ANOTHER HOUR OF MATERIAL CUT FROM HOUSE OF DARK SHADOWS PUT THAT BACK IN AND YOU HAVE A 3 HOUR FILM FOR THEATERS
@spectrumlocalb191 Yes the Dan Curtis Documentary Master of Dark Shadows was publicized all over Facebook and the commercial for it was also posted on TH-cam, perhaps you just missed it. You can see it still on the video site called Tubi TV and I believe it's still available on Amazon.
