Odd how after they sat they will "learn from this" they never seem to do what they say. The London Met are also a group of racketeers and have been for years. I met several police officers in the UK over many years who were extremely dodgy and little "Judge Dredds". The fact that the NI police were complicit in terrorism ought to make the government triple its efforts to bring those responsible to justice not brush it under the carpet.

Actually a lot of the former members of the Royal Irish Constabulary refused to apologise.
That was the force so sectarian it had to be abolished under the Good Friday agreement and replace with a new force it is the new Force which is apologising for the behaviour of the old one.
If you go onto certain protestant areas you see banner saying disbanded for being too loyal which yeah murdering innocent Catholics and promote and sectarian race wars.

Yes it's very easy for anyone to say who wasn't involved.
Just imagine the stress the police were under wondering when some dirty terrorist scumbag would shoot them in the back or plant a bomb under their car.
And they were supposed to fight these terrorists with one hand tied behind their back.
It's hardly surprising some police officers colluded with the loyalist terrorists scum to try and stop the nationalist terrorist scum.
Collusion or loyalist terrorists wouldn't exist if the IRA didn't start it's murder campaign.

It was the 1990s. It was a different era. The people responsible are no longer in those positions. The police service has been reformed. The Good Friday Agreement has given three North 20+ years of peace.
I know that people in Northern Ireland sometimes have a hard time letting go of the past. I understand and sympathize with why this is the case. However ultimately, there's no progress without letting the past be the past. I'm glad the historical record is being corrected and clarified. That's meaningful. So is the apology.

Not the case. The RUC was separate from the Loyalist paramilitaries and worked to stop them doing violence, infiltrating many of their cells and stopping violence. @@anthonyshardlow5108 I listen to the interviews with former Loyalist paramilitaries about the RUC. They openly talk about the issues they had with the RUC. Basically people have fallen for Irish propaganda about the RUC. Strangely enough the British intelligence in the IRA weren't 'full members of the IRA', but agents. Yet the RUC does the exact same thing and they call its collusion. The Irish and American state did the same thing in the IRA, yet some how the IRA kept murdering people. That's my point the perspective is one sided and history his been written by the ruling class to oppose the Loyalists. After all it was the Loyalist state that has been attacked and forced to change through violence, from all these outside forces from the Irish state/British state/American state.
If thousands of people took to the streets, people who represent a state which claims your nation as part of your state, how do you think the Loyalists would react? How do you think the police would react? The police in France killed hundred of foreigners and Communists in the 50's and 60's because they wanted 'rights', the American state did the same. The difference is there wasn't a foreign power Ireland threatening to invade the USA or France.
I used to be a Loyalist, I still have great affection for them and their culture, they emotions and perspectives. Maybe if other people felt the same as me, we could have an honest conversation and come to better conclusions about the conflict and make a lasting peace in Ireland. The Loyalists/RUC/British state weren't the 'bad guy's', and neither were the IRA/Americans/Irish state.

Officially acknowledging this widely known collusion is a major step for the pro-unionist/loyalist anti-republican police force in the six counties, given their majority. Not a significant enough step to be forgiven or trusted, that is still a long way off, but it's at least a start toward healing the injury of state-sanctioned sectarian violence perpetrated by the occupiers of the six occupied counties. So a cautious kudos to them for getting started, how this resolves will have a significant influence on peace in Northern Ireland moving forward. It is a volatile situation to resolve, they've simply tossed gasoline on the embers if they conclude it here with no further action taken. On the other hand if they move forward with prosecutions, the legal process might be seen as malicious targeting and spark more bonfire orange boy riots.

These are people in power over the local civilian population and any abuse of that power should be dealt with on a different level.
There should be a system in place where the policing body should be subject to a judicial system that incurs a multiplier in punishment for breaking the law. A ranking system.
For example, if a constable breaks the law, the maximum punishment should be ( 5x times ) greater than that of a civilian. If a sergeant breaks the law the maximum punishment should be ( 10x times) greater than that of a civilian. Etc, etc, etc....
I believe this would lead to an evolution within the policing system, ensuring that the people who joined up to protect and serve, would treat the job as thier life, and not just a job. Because at the end of the day, these peoples decisions affect our lives and they can go home in the evening and eat a cheeseburger with thier kids, regardless of their decisions. The main problem is the wrong type of people sit in these positions of power, and I think a system like this in place, which deals with corrupt cops on a higher scale, would make individuals with corrupt ideas in their heads, think twice.

If none then the matter surely ends there. It’s so easy to make all sorts of allegations but without substance they are useless.
