If your tires were not wider than the fenders, the mud guards would have worked a lot better. Even so, those will keep the mud from sitting on your running boards and inside the front of your door bottoms. Definitely worth the time to install.
Great job, very informative. You helped me decide to get a set. In Colorado, next winter, I will find out how they handle packing up with snow. Thanks again.
They work as long as your tire isnt wider than the mud guard. I put them on my f150... I also put wheel liners in to keep the mud contained in the wheel wells..
@@doug292 I bought the hard plastic ones I think from husky... I really like the wheel well liners tho.. They keep the mud and muck from getting on the underside of bed.
I liked this video for your comparison but that Raptor of yours! Very nice. I like the combo of grey with those “bronze/gold/matt” wheels!! I love those wheels you have!
You could just installed it one side and left the other without and went through the mud then added the rest after you seen what it did. Im waiting for mine idk if they will fit with my 34s tho if not theyre going back
I want some for my 2019 ford raptor but I don’t want to make the mpg worse than what it already is. Lol. Great video! Question. When I put mine in 4L, it starts at 2nd gear and I can’t drop it to 1st. I’m assuming the clunking noise is normal when switching it to 4L. I’m trying to figure out if I messed mine up. I’m going to take it to the dealer soon. Thanks.
appreciate the video... just a note, your US flag decals on door are facing the wrong way.... you wont see any flag facing in the "retreat" position. Stars should be facing forward.
Thanks! Yes I realized this shortly after I published this video. I actually made a video on how to properly install them after many comments. Thanks again
Mud guards come in many forms. Brand name husky are useless in my opinion. Sure they do some sort of help. But for those who want durability and longevity with an actual proper mud guard look to those who work in the mud all day year round for years. Husky mud guards are useless for us in those out doors out back industries , mining, oil and gas, forestry… etc… For us we use heavy duty and professional options such as a custom made stainless long john type to help cover most of the wheel well along side custom fender flares to push the body out alot more. The reason we install ours in a certain way with out screws we use a boot with big washers and do a full custom install to last and not tear and rip when they are covered with mud and snow Causing cracking if they were plastic and also snapping off in the extreme cold with the dirt road bumps etc. I can go on for days but in my opinion. Don’t go cheap you’ll end up paying cheap many times over I’d rather get custom Pay a pretty penny and put last any other option thus causing you to spend less in the long run
Yes I eventually plan on putting those on in the future. Have other mods planned first. Thanks for watching. Please make sure to hit that subscribe button for me!
Ryan Beatie yeah sorry bout that didn’t realize that until I posted this video & got a lot of comments about. I did correct them & made a video about them to hopefully help others not do the same thing. Thanks for watching & your feedback. Please make sure to subscribe.
@@JJBanuelos Glad you fixed it! Anybody in the military will correct you on it. Our flag is always "battle forward", meaning the standard is always in the direction of travel where the fight is, so when viewed on the right side of a uniform or vehicle, the flag looks reversed.
Trailblazer Films Thanks for the video and reply. I just got a 2012 3 weeks ago. I have 17x9 +12 which is 1” more to the outside than stock. I was looking at aftermarket flares but the top isn’t an issue if you look at the wheel. It’s midway which I’d need a 3.5” flare. Probably look crazy. So mud guards seem like the best option. Most appear to be 12” wide. I’d love a 14” or so would most likely cover the entire wheel. But even at 12” as per your video it made a huge difference.
Yeah a 14” would make a little more difference & help keep debris down from hitting truck sides. Thanks for watching & please make sure to hit that subscribe button for me! 👍 good luck with the truck.
@@JJBanuelos sorry to hear that considering they cost a pretty penny..might be why people are giving those falken at3 a chance..anyway great video and nice truck...
@@tyronemosley6810 I had Ko2 and Falken AT3W. Ko2 is garbage in snow and rain. They slip and slide everywhere. Falkens grip like crazy on offroad, dirt, rocks, rain, snow, sleet. Doesn't matter. Falken AT3W or Toyo Open Country > Ko2.
Thanks for the feedback! I actually removed them & installed them the right way. I have a video on this on my channel. Like always thanks for watching!
Don’t run American flags on your truck if you don’t know which way they should be applied. It’s not a fashion statement do your homework and put them on the correct way.
When flinging mud the flaps protect not just your truck, but people behind you are protected from flinging rocks and pebbles.
Your flag decal is incorrect. It is suppose to be as if it is flapping in the wind, with the union or blue field to the left of the observer.
Yes it is thanks for the feedback. I ended up fixing them in another video on my channel. 👍
It’s how the military use their flag, however it is pointing the wrong way. The stars are opposite on the uniform because we “assault forward”.
He has them on the wrong sides. Stars forward on sides vehicles. Those sets are directional specific.

What’s the difference between mud and splash guards?
The only reason I have them is to prevent the tires from shooting rocks and scratching the paint

No problem glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Howd they do?

If you cover the first set of holes in the running boards it also reduces a ton of gavel and dirt up the door and hitting the wide hips.
Excellent video! Great experiment set up and demonstration of results. Here is a thumbs up!

Thanks for the video! You helped me make my decision about mud guards on my SUV.
Are those 35” tires if so does the tires run mid flaps?
Also do you think mud guards would help with my 35” tires if have no fender flares?
Great video. Found the same results with the Ford OEM mud guards.

i think you need longer flaps, that hang closer to the ground. also wider, past edge of tire.
Yea I agree they would definitely help but the. I wouldn’t like the look. Would be too much of a trucker look.
What tire paint did you use ,I missed it , thank you.
Can mud flags ricochet rocks towards your wheels? My only concern.
What if I don’t have one of those cool screwdriver things? I know. I’m screwed.
Littlebeef2 haha no not exactly you can just turn the wheel to access the screws with a regular screw driver.
I’m at work right now watching this video about a block away from that car wash 😂
Haha that’s awesome!
Thanks from India, really informative.
Awesome appreciate it! 👍🏻

How about the mud on the tailgate?
still need to wash it at the end though..
Yeah just rinsed it off good enough for now! Thanks for watching
Just now getting some for my Kona 2020 hope they are worth it !
There nice you’ll like them!
Trailblazer Films Thank you !
I saw a 4th gen RAM 1500 with regular front mud guards but the rear mud guards were in front of the rear tires. WHY?!?! That makes no sense!
Maybe they like going in the mud in reverse. 😂
How about doing the rear husky mud flaps?

I love them . Every vehicle I buy has to have them, if not I install after
Yes I agree!
I need to hit up that coin carwash tomorrow, how much?
Shit I didn’t even look just started throwing in that silver! Your going to need about 5 dollars worth at least!
These are the smallest garbage flaps I've seen, be even better protection with a set that reaches lower to ground
They would work even better with stock rims and tires

That was some serious mud, lol. I don't think any guards are going to prevent that kind of mud from getting on the nice truck;)
