Thanks. Ordered a set of rear mudflaps for my MYP to protect the back and the trailer when towing. Hopefully it'll cut down on spray behind for other road users, too!
Thanks Matt. Of course, fitting mudflaps has a negative impact on range, albeit very small. Perhaps why Tesla didn't put them on the back? Appreciate you sharing though.
I suppose it will but it would be tiny as they are behind a tyre, so shouldn't be adding drag. They probably don't fit rear mudlflaps as they don't really achieve much. No metal panels behind to get damaged.
@@Markcain268 Perhaps I used the wrong word for you. Instead of range, try efficiency. Attempting to get around using the minimum energy and having the least impact on the planet. Range isn't a problem - never run out on either of our EVs.
The Model Y replaced it as Tesla were doing an offer to transfer the free lifetime supercharging to a new S/X/Y. So that made the decision as to what to do and then the Model S was written off by the insurer.
@@GoGreenAutos Shame about the S but you did a great deal there with the supercharging on the Y. It would be interesting to get your thoughts on the Y in terms of driving pleasure versus the S. My Kia e-Niro is now 5 years old and will hit 100,000 km next week, not a huge mileage but it has been faultless so far.
@@kiae-nirodiariesencore4270 I was going to do a video about the differences, but there's not much to say really. It took about a month to really appreciate the Model Y. At first it felt like I was sat on it and it wasn't particularly engaging to drive and not a patch on the Model S. But now 4 months in and I love it and don't feel the same.
Hey, am I right in saying that come the new 2025 VED changes that will add EVs to the new lists will add the Model Y to the Luxury list? So Cars that cost £40,000 or more (after options) are subject to a further £410 annual supplement (up from £380 in 2023/2024) that runs for five years. This kicks in after the first-year’s CO2-based charge, so you’ll pay the supplement from years two to six of the car’s life? So No Model Y’s escape this extra Luxury cost but base Model 3 without additions will, unless there’s a price increase.
Correct. But I feel that the media and general public haven't cottoned on to this yet, so there will be uproar and surely a new government will change the threshold. £40K is no longer "luxury". It should be double that. Tesla will probably drop the price of the Model Y RWD to £39,995 too.
@@GoGreenAutos I’ve been constantly ‘X’ ing Elin on this for UK pricing to reduce the Y by then and lobby the UK gov ministers. I totally agree that there’s no way it classes as Luxury at £40k and includes and options. So buy your cars then, if you can, add options later, which you can with Tesla’s, even tow bars. There’s no way my Electric Ioniq should pay more VED than my daughters 2010 1.33 petrol Yaris ! Makes a mockery of VED. Go back to the Miles driven scenario
My rear mudflaps are definitely helping the rear end stay a lot cleaner. Totally worth it. I followed a Model Y in heavy rain down a motorway the other day and without them you can see how the aerodynamics pushes everything straight round to the almost perfect centre of the black plastic at the back and then straight upwards. I suspect the rear mudguards help prevent this.

@go green Autos : you want to unscrew the wheel house cover, clean the area, put rust protection in there and seal it as good as possible.
Did the same on my Ioniq 5. Got a full set of 4. Bit short as OEM but every little helps (also white).

Never worried about range in a car, run low on fuel, top up your tank, simple.

I literally was looking for a video on this from a general sense...for my tesla Y, and what do you knowm love the internet
Ya, someone found this video useful!
I don’t think they add PPF on the rear doors for the Y in the US
I wonder if it is something exclusive to Model Y`s coming from China because they are adding it here in Canada, too
@@williamzu actually picked mine up yesterday and it came with mud flaps and PPF
Thanks Matt. It looks like the big green Model S is no more, just wonder what happened to it after the accident. So is the MY your daily drive now?
