I did this mod years ago with my w201. A few things to consider: 1) You can remove the 2 front aux fans. I used a fan from a w203 and the amount of air that the fan moves is more than enough to cool the radiator and condenser. Plus you will increase air flow by like 90% (remove the front aux fans and front shroud which restrict flow when the car isn't moving and the fans aren't on. 2) If you don't account for engine and radiator flexing, you will definitely get some rubbing when braking and when accelerating. Especially during hard braking, the engine will move forward towards the radiator and the pulleys will grind the fan. During highway speeds, the radiator will flex back towards the engine as well.

Great work man, looking forward to that driving video. I had a 119.974 and currently have a 119.982 and do not like the noticable low end engine power draw while the fan clutch is fully engaged in summer, not to mention the noise the fan makes. I'm considering the electric fan option as well.

Thank you! I've driven it between Southern California and Phoenix already and on a 282 mile stretch, I averaged almost 26 mpg with cruise control set at 80 mph. I might have been able to squeeze some more out of it if I were doing 65 mph. I do enjoy the responsiveness of it now vs mechanical fan. Also, I don't miss the loud fan noise.

@@FriendlyMBTech I'm sure you must've noticed how much cooler the car runs as well. I'm in the desert in SoCal so the cooling is the best with the right set up.

The S600 fan would probably be better, to be honest. IF it will fit. That's the main caveat. I only used this fan because it was free. If I can find a larger fan, I'll switch to that. I almost got one from a W222 S580, but it didn't work out. Also, I'd look into upgrading the alternator. I might do that in the near future. The fan sucks a lot of current when it's on 100% and my 32 year old alternator is kind of struggling to keep up.
