Happy Birthday Andy. Great trip to Herons, nearly fell off my chair at the prices though 😮 That is a very handsome juniper you brought and look forward to more updates. Take care :-)

You need a big cheque book at Herons, because you get what you pay for, and Peter's trees are amazing.

Your Bday is five days after mine. I always felt that BDay was a nice end of Summer party. It is a nice feeling when you have a Bonsai, Maybe you have seedings and clones that are Pre Bonsai but to bring something home that you already like and feel that pull to take extra special care....as soon as you know what that is. My first Bonsai was my Cork Bark Oak and it was pricy and in dire need of a restyle from die back. It is starting to shape up three years latter could have been two years but i lost one year doing all the wrong stuff. (If you get something niceish make sure it is a type that will survive your bs until you learn more.) for me this was Bald Cypress . there bad ass looking even as pre Bonsai and if you can pour out water you can keep this alive for years on little more than that. Nice Show, and Happy Birthday, Andy! Cheers-P@

You handled the sticker shock on the price tag fairly well 😅
I think you've done the right thing for beginning. Get a project to work on. And a more finished tree that you can refine as you grow in the hobby.

When I first started out with bonsai I went to Herons and only brought the starter trees. After years of training and growing the are un recognisable. A big part of Bonsai for me has been learning patience. Enjoyed the video m8 👍

Happy Birthday mate! I do love going to herons! I've probably said hello to Peter 15 times (or more) and he never remembers me, 😂😂, he has so many customers. Good spot from Kevin wilson, He has styled a lot of the junipers at Herons this year. I can't afford a lot of the tree's there, I do often buy pots and starter material though, as it's fairly priced.

      We’ll expensive 😂
      My Tanuki when finished
At his prices will be worth £15,000 or more 😂

Nice buys. Cool bonsai tree. 195 was a good price. Working on the one not potted will give you some great experience and will make a great 2 part video. Pruning and then a repotting.

Keep your eyes open, Peter still travels abroad to visit other bonsai communities and talk about bonsai. He was in Canada a few months ago and last year he was in the Netherlands at Lodder Bonsai/Hoka-en bonsai studio. Check your local communities and clubs to see their programs and see if he appears as guest.
