Some fabulous Junipers and Pines Peter, they don’t seem to grow or collect smaller trees in Taiwan, they are all gigantic trees. I assume you are back in the U.K. when this video is shown, getting back to reality of what is possible to achieve in our climate. Thank you for taking us along on your journeys to other cultures.

That one inside the garage like area is absolutely fantastic. It even has the large turning section that looks like a woman with a wrapped shawl. Absolutely beautiful.

I thought it was already beautiful before he turned the light on, and then they added the contrast from the light... gorgeous!

A fantastic point on competition vs art. You can't create something like these under the time constraints of a demonstration, sure, but you also can't if you're trying to match the strict stylistic/aesthetic needs of a competition. You don't make such pieces by matching expectations, you make then by striving for a point of view, that line between craft and art. Incredible works.

It's amazing what they can do with cypress trees while where I live in Scotland a very vigorous cypress the leylandii can take 25 years to grow 30 feet tall and I guess they grow a lot quicker in England. It's amazing what the right environment can do for the growth and health of trees

A climate that works. Thank you, Peter for showing us how it's done in a tropical (semi) environment. This just proves to me that we all need to kiss Mother Nature, and not to rape her.

Perhaps if Wisley could see the veneration of these trees and the quality of the stone stands they are on - the Herons Bonsai Walk might be seen as a truly beautiful art form as opposed to one which just keeps the trees high enough to view……

As an artist you must have a vision of imagination.
You can have the technology knowledge but if you can’t take and understand that knowledge then you can’t push the envelope to create something new.
I always push students to go beyond what is required of them.
Then they can really understand the problem bad create something new in finding solutions in solve the problems.
